Help! The Villainess Trapped in the Beast World's Drama!

Chapter 170: Chapter 164: Offering the Loyalty of a Follower

The highly anticipated coronation ceremony, which Shen Tang meticulously prepared for, was disrupted by this small incident.

Such an event has never occurred in the history of the Empire!

Shen Tang is currently in the limelight, with various media carrying long guns and cameras, broadcasting the entire event live.

The citizens of the Empire all witnessed this unexpected turn of events.

Some took the opportunity to fan the flames online.

[Could this be the will of the heavens, that Shen Tang is not worthy of her position and should not be re-crowned...]

[I agree with the one above, when Shen Tang was previously a princess, she brought so many disasters to the Empire. It was only during her exile that the people enjoyed a rare period of peace. Now she is to assume her position again, yet the ceremony was interrupted. Perhaps this is a warning from the heavens to us!]

[I recall a divination blogger once saying that Shen Tang symbolizes disaster and that if she becomes princess, she will once again bring disaster to the entire Empire!]

[Ha, serves her right! I never regarded this fake princess; she got what she deserved!]

[The one above is wrong; the coronation ceremony isn’t over yet, so she’s not considered a princess!]

[I propose canceling Shen Tang’s coronation eligibility.]

[Yes, cancel it. The Empire only has one princess!]

[The heavens have opened their eyes, Shen Tang is unworthy!]

Public opinion on the internet fermented rapidly.

In just this short time, many Beastmen present saw the occurrences, feeling conflicted and uncertain about what to do.

Jia Lan angrily cursed in a cold voice, ”A bunch of ignorant people! Is their brain filled with mush? If they don’t want their eyes, they can dig them out and feed them to the dogs. Can’t they see you’ve been kidnapped? It’s obvious someone has tampered, aiming to destroy the ceremony site!”

Shen Tang also saw the online comments, furrowing her brows as she spoke lightly, ”People are not interested in the truth; they only want to believe what they see.”

In such an important coronation ceremony, there must be people Shen Qingli arranged on-site, even if they couldn’t kill her this time, it was a good opportunity for rumor-mongering. How could they let it slip?

”Ignore them, let’s go.” Xiao Jin protected Shen Tang’s shoulder, pushing through the crowd.

With the coronation ceremony in such chaos, and with her being frightened and accompanied by an injured person, the ceremony couldn’t continue.

To avoid further unexpected incidents amidst the chaos, leaving the site promptly was the best course of action.

However, they were unexpectedly surrounded by troops at the hall’s entrance, unable to leave.

Jia Lan looked ahead with a grim face, ”What does the Empire mean by this?”

Lu Family Head, Lu Shen, slowly stepped out from the troops, a tall and imposing figure. Having reached middle age, his presence was even more cold and domineering.

He scanned the area with a cold gaze, disappointment in his eyes when looking at his son, before finally settling on Shen Tang.

His authoritative face carried a look of disdain as he spoke indifferently, ”I kindly ask Your Grace to cooperate with the investigation.”

Shen Tang said sternly, ”It doesn’t seem like the Family Head is here to investigate, rather to abuse authority and settle scores.”

Lu Shen sneered, ”Your Grace, you misunderstand. I am considering Your Grace’s safety; the site needs sealing. I kindly ask for Your Grace’s understanding.”

His refusal to mention the ”Your Highness” likely indicated ill intentions.

Lu Shen glanced at Lu Xiao, suppressing his anger, speaking coldly, ”However, I indeed have a request this time.”

Before Shen Tang could ask, he directly presented a divorce agreement.

”I kindly ask Your Grace to divorce my son.”

”As long as you sign this divorce agreement today, I will let you leave and will certainly strive to uncover the truth and clear Your Grace’s name!”

Lu Shen, having held a high position for many years, was no ignorant citizen, thinking this was divine wrath. He considered deeper interests.

In such a pivotal coronation site, the Emperor and Empress both declined to attend, indicating the weight of this princess in the eyes of Your Majesty.

To the Emperor, officially restoring Shen Tang to a princess title was merely nominal, unworthy of Lu Xiao, let alone support from their family.

Today, whether or not she signed the divorce agreement wasn’t her choice!

Shen Tang looked at the troops behind Lu Shen, feeling cold inside; this was coercion and temptation!

”The last time I returned home, I made it very clear. Does Father need me to repeat it publicly?”

Lu Xiao strode out, confronting Lu Shen, his voice low and cold, with a commanding aura no less than the current Lu Family Head.

Lu Shen’s face turned livid, ”Rebellious son, stop messing around here! I command you to step back; this matter doesn’t concern you today!”

This child was obedient since childhood, but grew rebellious because of this matter!

His decision was, he thought, for his own good and for the family!

Lu Xiao replied appropriately, ”I am also considering the family; a male Beastman marrying a Female Master doesn’t make sense for a unilateral divorce.”

”If I set a precedent, how would the aristocratic families privately discuss our Lu Family?”

Lu Shen roared angrily, ”Are you the Family Head, or am I the Family Head? I command you to return! There’s no need for you to consider other matters!”

The crowd watched wide-eyed, taken aback by the spectacle.

The Lu Family actually came with an army to block someone?!

The young master of the Lu Family, groomed with high expectations, confronting his father for the Female Master—what a drama of the century!

Many present nobility could see that the current Emperor did not value this non-blood-related princess, the title given was merely nominal, and Shen Tang indeed was not worthy of Lu Xiao.

This Lu Family’s young master was the heir, and these noble descendants were astute, savvy in power and interests, naturally believing they should break the engagement swiftly.

But reality contradicted assumptions.

Many excited onlookers were eager to record with their Light Computers, but no one dared.

Lu Xiao, tall and straight with a cold, resolute face, merely standing there with inaction exerted significant pressure.

He stared directly at the livid Lu Shen, his voice steady and unhurried, ”Father, the Lu Family isn’t your personal domain; the family has a strict ancestral rule which even the Family Head cannot override.”

”The Lu Family heir holds the right to choose the Monarch to support. If you insist on violating family ancestral rules, I have the standing to question Father.”

A chill went through his deep voice,

”... if necessary, one can act beyond one’s authority and seize the family emblem.”

Upon these words, the crowd erupted.

This young master was openly attempting to dethrone his own father.

Lu Shen, overwhelmed with anger, couldn’t catch his breath.

He heaved heavily, ”You! You rebellious son, after all these years raising you, now you’re trying to anger me to death!”

Lu Xiao, his expression cold and indifferent, didn’t concern himself with others’ comments.

In front of everyone, he walked over to Shen Tang, took her hand, and leaned down to place a kiss.

The final step of the coronation ceremony—offering the devotee’s loyalty.

A soft, glancing kiss, without overstepping bounds, devoid of passion and love, only the loyalty of a subject to the princess.

With a final kiss.

He respectfully released her hand, his sharp eagle-eyes scanning the crowd, his voice firm and resonant,

”The coronation ceremony is complete; Shen Tang is officially the princess of the Night Glow Empire. I swear by the honor of the Lu Family sons, to wholeheartedly support this new sovereign.”

”No regrets in this life.”
