I Can See Experience Points

Chapter 66: Chapter 65: [Secret Dream Observation Achievement Method]

Early the next morning, He Xiaotian opened his laptop and contacted the owner of the online store.

[Once Dreamed of Roaming the World with a Sword]: ”You there? Hey! I need a secret manual to cultivate my Spirit, preferably one that can see through an Illusion Technique. I almost fell for a trick last night—a ghost nearly gouged my eyes out.”

On the other end, the seller stared at the message that popped up on his screen, completely dumbfounded.

’Why is this guy back to mess with me again?’

’Have you even finished practicing the *Thirteen Grand Protectors’ Cross Training*?’

’A Spirit manual? Aren’t you already a little unhinged?!’

’What the hell would you need one for!’

’And what the hell is this about a ghost gouging your eyes out?’

’You claiming you mastered the *Fire-refined Golden Body* to the stage of Great Perfection is already crazy enough to make me see ghosts!!’

’Right now, I kind of want to gouge my own eyes out and mail them to you, just to show my ”profound respect” for your eminence.’

Still, the shop owner suppressed the urge to cough up blood and typed a reply.

After all, business had come knocking on his door. It would be foolish not to take the money.

Forget that this guy showed signs of being unhinged—he’d sell to a clinically insane person if he had to.

[I Don’t Sell Fake Manuals, I Sell Antiques]: ”Hey there, message received. Please wait a moment while I go check.”

Seeing this, He Xiaotian went downstairs to eat breakfast.

A short while later, he returned to his apartment complex, leaving the breakfast stall owner staring after him, completely dumbfounded.

[I Don’t Sell Fake Manuals, I Sell Antiques]: ”Hey there, I found the manual you wanted. It’s called the *Secret Dream Observation Achievement Method*. Legend has it that it’s a supreme yoga Secret Technique that develops a person’s latent paranormal abilities through dreams.

The price is one hundred thousand, but since you’re a regular, how about I give it to you for eighty thousand? I should also mention that this isn’t the complete manual. If it were, it would probably cost over a million, easy.

However, after verification by our shop’s professional staff, we’ve determined that this incomplete version is enough to cultivate the Dharma Eye. Seeing through an Illusion Technique will be a piece of cake. Cultivated to its peak, it’s said you could even liberate all sentient beings and perceive the entirety of existence.”

He Xiaotian thought to himself, ’The Dharma Eye?’

The *Infinite Life Sutra* says: ”With the Dharma Eye, one observes and comprehends all paths. With the Wisdom Eye, one sees the truth and can cross to the farther shore.”

The poem *Praise to the Eighteen Great Arhats: Venerable Ajita* says: ”Each refines their heart, and attains the true Dharma Eye.”

The *Three Notes from the Tea Fragrance Room: The Buddha’s Physical Eye Sees Forty Li* states: ”Buddhism has five eyes: first, the physical eye; second, the celestial eye; third, the wisdom eye; fourth, the Dharma Eye; and fifth, the Buddha’s Eye.”

In Buddhist lore, the Dharma Eye is the fourth level, second only to the Buddha’s Eye.

This eye is also known as the Eye of a Bodhisattva.

[Once Dreamed of Roaming the World with a Sword]: ”Alright, I’ll take it. If it really lets me see through an Illusion Technique, I’ll leave you a five-star review.”

The online shop owner read this and rolled his eyes. ’Oh, please don’t!’

’What if your five-star review is something like, ”The seller’s cultivation manuals are amazing! I already developed the Dharma Eye. I can see through any Illusion Technique and perceive all illusions.”’

’Then I’d be in deep trouble!!’

He Xiaotian happily purchased the *Secret Dream Observation Achievement Method*, only to discover that the seller was also in Shanghai. It could be delivered by the afternoon.

[Once Dreamed of Roaming the World with a Sword]: ”Why don’t I just come pick it up from you?”

’Oh god, please don’t!’

The seller was convinced the guy had scrambled his brains from his training; how could he possibly let He Xiaotian come to his place?

People who are mentally ill aren’t held criminally liable for assault.

At most, they get arrested and sent to a psychiatric hospital for treatment.

[I Don’t Sell Fake Manuals, I Sell Antiques]: ”Oh, that’s too much trouble for you! How about this? I’ll expedite the delivery and have them get it to you by noon.”

He Xiaotian paused. ’Will hassling the courier even work?’

’It’s not like the delivery company will listen to you!’

The seller’s will to survive was clearly very strong, as another message quickly followed.

[I Don’t Sell Fake Manuals, I Sell Antiques]: ”The courier is my brother-in-law, so he’ll listen to me. Don’t worry, I guarantee it. If not, I’ll deliver it to you myself.”

He said it with such finality, it was almost like he was swearing a deadly oath.

’Well, since he’s put it that way... if I refuse, it’ll make future dealings awkward.’

He Xiaotian closed his laptop, feeling bored.

With no ghosts to hammer and school not yet in session, it seemed there was nothing for him to do but stay in his rented apartment and watch TV.

’Look for a job?’

’Come on, he wasn’t that greenhorn anymore.’

Besides, he’d just wandered around for a few days, hammered some kind of blood-freak to death, and raked in sixty million.

With his current standards, He Xiaotian really couldn’t be bothered with a normal job.

The morning passed quickly.

At noon, the doorbell rang.

Shirtless, he opened the security door.

”GULP!”

The delivery guy outside saw He Xiaotian’s ten-pack abs and arms thicker than his own thighs, and immediately gulped.

’This is the unhinged patient my brother-in-law was talking about?’

’Since when do mentally ill people get this jacked?!’

’And he even told me to be careful.’

”Is that my secret manual?”

”Please sign for it.”

After taking the ballpoint pen and signing his name with a flourish, he grabbed the package and slammed the door shut. BANG.

’Don’t tell me... my brother-in-law’s secret manuals aren’t actually fake?’

The delivery guy was momentarily lost in thought.

He made up his mind: after his shift tonight, he was definitely going to go over, grab a couple of manuals, and try practicing them himself.

[DING! A complete volume has been discovered. Would you like to scan it?]

’A complete volume? I thought this was an incomplete manual? Wait... the *Secret Dream Observation Achievement Method* must contain many different martial Secret Techniques. The seller said this volume could cultivate the Dharma Eye. From his perspective, since it doesn’t contain everything, it is indeed incomplete.’

’But from the Experience Points system’s perspective, it’s a complete volume that can be mastered, so it doesn’t need to be supplemented. Scan it. I can’t let myself be bewildered by some evil spirit again.’

[*Secret Dream Observation Achievement Method - Dharma Eye Chapter* - 0/500+ (Uninitiated)]

’Five hundred just for the first level? As expected of a manual that can cultivate the Dharma Eye. It’s so expensive!’

[*Secret Dream Observation Achievement Method - Dharma Eye Chapter* - 500/500+ (Uninitiated) -> *Secret Dream Observation Achievement Method - Dharma Eye Chapter* - 0/1500+ (Initiate)]

[*Secret Dream Observation Achievement Method - Dharma Eye Chapter* - 1500/1500+ (Initiate) -> *Secret Dream Observation Achievement Method - Dharma Eye Chapter* - 0/3000+ (Novice)]

[*Secret Dream Observation Achievement Method - Dharma Eye Chapter* - 3000/3000+ (Novice) -> *Secret Dream Observation Achievement Method - Dharma Eye Chapter* - 0/6000+ (Minor Accomplishment)]

The five thousand Experience Points he had gained from eliminating the Mirror Spirit last night were now completely gone.

He Xiaotian was broke once again.

He had only a hundred Experience Points left, just enough to save face and not have a big fat zero after the colon.

[*Secret Dream Observation Achievement Method - Dharma Eye Chapter* - 0/6000+ (Minor Accomplishment: Spirit +5, Illusion Technique Resistance +5, Perception +5, Insight +5)]

Four attribute bonuses appeared. The only shame was that the Dharma Eye itself hadn’t manifested.

But then again, if the Dharma Eye—the Eye of a Bodhisattva—could be obtained at the mere stage of Minor Accomplishment, it would be far too underwhelming.

Still, the Experience Point cost was just too high.

Five thousand Experience Points had only raised it three levels.

’Sigh... I need to work even harder at hammering ghosts.’
