The Alpha's Regret: Return Of The Betrayed Luna

Chapter 545: Chapter 545 Siege 12

At the same time, she pulled out the same dagger that was still tied to the rope she had used during her previous fight with the three ogres. The sword remained firmly gripped in her right hand while the dagger rested in her left.

With a swift motion, she threw the dagger like a dart.

It struck the shoulder of the ogre on the left.

The creature roared in pain, but the wound barely slowed its charge.

Addison didn’t wait for it to reach her.

Instead, she tugged sharply on the rope attached to the dagger, quickly testing if it could hold her weight without being ripped free.

When she felt it hold—

She accelerated forward.

With another strong pull on the rope, her body was yanked into the air as her feet left the ground.

At that exact moment, the ogre on the left swung its massive club in a sweeping strike at the spot where Addison had been standing just a second earlier.

Addison stepped directly onto the moving club.

Using it as leverage, she pushed off with explosive force, launching herself higher into the air while pulling on the rope again to close the distance between her and the ogre.

Now she was within reach.

As the ogre’s right arm came into range, Addison gripped her sword tightly and spun her body in midair, ensuring the blade wouldn’t slip from her grasp.

The spinning strike carved several crisscrossing wounds across the ogre’s arm.

At the same time, she used the momentum of her body and the tension of the rope to pull herself even closer to the towering creature.

The ogre roared in pain as Addison’s blade carved into its arm.

In retaliation, it lashed out with its other hand, trying to grab her.

But Addison was faster.

Her sword flashed again, clean and precise, severing several of its fingers. The ogre bellowed even louder, staggering backward as blood sprayed from the wound.

At the same time, the second ogre, on the right, halted its charge.

Then it swung its massive club straight toward Addison.

She saw it coming.

But instead of retreating, a plan formed in her mind.

With a sharp pull, she yanked her dagger free from the first ogre’s shoulder and flipped backward into the air, narrowly evading the incoming strike.

The second ogre, acting purely on instinct, didn’t stop its attack.

Its club came crashing down—

Straight into the jaw of the first ogre.

Already disoriented and screaming in pain from its severed fingers, the first ogre never even saw the blow coming.

The impact echoed loudly as its massive body was sent crashing to the ground.

Addison landed lightly a moment later, a faint smirk forming on her lips.

She felt incredibly light and free, like a swallow gliding through the sky without restraint.

Her plan had worked perfectly.

A thunderous boom followed as the fallen ogre slammed into the ground, kicking up a thick cloud of dust.

But the second ogre didn’t hesitate.

As if it didn’t care that it had just struck its own ally, it charged again, swinging its club wildly toward Addison.

Noticing that the first ogre was still breathing, Addison dashed toward its fallen body, weaving past the incoming attack.

Then, as the second ogre struck again—

She guided its attack.

With precise movement, she redirected the trajectory, causing the blow to slam directly into the fallen ogre.

Addison intended to use the creature’s own strength against its kind.

She stepped onto the chest of the fallen ogre, standing firmly atop it as she faced the other charging brute.

Then, with a flick of her wrist, she threw her dagger once more, like a dart, aiming straight for its eye.

The enraged ogre, acting purely on instinct and fury, didn’t even try to dodge.

The dagger struck true.

It buried itself into its eye.

The ogre let out a deafening roar, pain and madness consuming it as it raised its club once more—

This time, swinging with full force, driven entirely by blind rage.

The ogre gathered all its strength and brought its club down in a brutal, overhead smash, aiming to crush Addison into the ground.

But instead of retreating, Addison moved closer, right beside the fallen ogre’s head.

At the very last moment—

She dove away.

Her body hit the ground and rolled just as the club came crashing down.

BOOM!

The impact shook the earth, and the sheer force of the strike unleashed a violent blast of wind that pushed her even farther away.

Rather than hindering her, it worked in her favor. The momentum widened the distance between her and the two ogres in an instant.

And a massive cloud of dust erupted from the impact, quickly engulfing the battlefield.

For a moment, visibility dropped to near zero—

Even the warriors, along with the surrounding monsters and wild animals, struggled to see through the thick haze.

”Princess!” the Alpha roared, whipping his head back.

But all he saw was a thick cloud of dust surging through the air. It stung his eyes and filled his mouth as he inhaled, forcing him into a violent coughing fit.

Then, everything stopped.

As if someone had pressed pause on the battlefield... or perhaps because none of them could see through the blinding haze, even the monsters and wild animals halted their assault.

For a brief, eerie moment, the chaos vanished.

No feral roars.

No savage growls.

No snarling.

Just silence.

Addison stiffened, unease creeping into her chest as the sudden stillness wrapped around her, but then, like a spark igniting in the dark, an idea flashed through her mind.

’Wait... is the cloud of dust interfering with their sense of smell? Is that why their frenzy suddenly stopped?’ Addison’s thoughts raced.

If that was the case, then whatever had drawn them here wasn’t sight or sound; it was a scent.

And now, with the air choked by dust, that scent had been smothered. All they could perceive was the grit clogging their noses.

Which meant...

Something had been continuously luring them to the camp, something they could track through the air.

And if she could find it... and destroy it...

Then the madness would end.

The realization struck her like a sudden flare of light in the dark, a fragile, desperate hope she refused to let slip through her fingers.

’Then... could she use the cloud of dust to disrupt their sense of smell?’

If it worked, it might stop the monsters and wild animals from tracking whatever was driving them into this frenzy.

But the idea faltered almost as quickly as it formed.

The dust wouldn’t just affect the enemy; it would blind and choke her people, too.

And worse...

If something had been planted to lure the creatures here, then it wasn’t a coincidence. It meant an enemy spy had already infiltrated their perimeter.

And it just confirmed their suspicion that they were being watched.

If she spread the dust across every section of the wall to suppress the creatures, she might win a moment of calm, but she would also hand the enemy the perfect opportunity.

Under the cover of that same dust, they could strike.

They could slip through the chaos, assassinate the warriors defending the camp, and let the monsters take the blame.
