Supreme Lord of Towers

”Ye Chen, this is Duanmu Jie’s treacherous scheme. Don’t fall for it. Once you step onto the Life and Death Battle Platform, there’s no turning back.” Ouyang Xue’s delicate body suddenly trembled, her face turning extremely grim, and she hurriedly spoke to dissuade Ye Chen.

The Life and Death Battle Platform was built by the order of the four founders of the Celestial Flame Academy, designed to resolve irreconcilable conflicts among the students.

Once someone steps onto the Life and Death Battle Platform, a decision of life and death must be made.

Until life and death are resolved, not even the Palace Master of the Celestial Flame Academy can intervene.

This ironclad rule has been upheld for five hundred years at the Celestial Flame Academy, and no one has dared to break it.

No matter how talented a genius may be, if they are killed atop the Life and Death Battle Platform, they can only blame themselves for their inadequate strength.

Therefore, unless absolutely necessary, students of the Celestial Flame Academy would not casually set foot on the Life and Death Battle Platform, as the risk is simply too great.

Only when the conflict between two individuals reaches an irreconcilable point do they sign a Life and Death Contract and head to the Life and Death Battle Platform for a showdown to the death.

”Ye Chen, you mustn’t agree to him. He’s provoking you to anger so you’ll go to the Life and Death Battle Platform. At that point, even I can’t save you.” Ouyang Zhong’s brows furrowed tightly, his expression anxious to the extreme.

Even though Ye Chen displayed astonishing potential in the freshman competition, given enough time, he absolutely has the hope to surpass Duanmu Jie.

However, Duanmu Jie is too despicable, giving Ye Chen only a month.

No matter how quickly Ye Chen grows, it is absolutely impossible for him to surpass Duanmu Jie in a month.

So if Ye Chen truly agrees to Duanmu Jie, it would be akin to a moth flying into the flame.

Duanmu Jie’s aim is clearly to eliminate Ye Chen in the cradle, giving him no time to grow.

”Duanmu Jie, I agree. A month from now, I’ll ensure you die with no place for burial.” Ye Chen’s facial features twisted together, looking particularly menacing, and he gritted his teeth at Duanmu Jie.

As for Ouyang Zhong and Ouyang Xue’s advice, he acted as though he hadn’t heard it.

At this moment, his eyes were blinded by hatred, only wanting to dismember Duanmu Jie to avenge his foster father and mother, caring for nothing else.

”Heh, haha, I never expected a waste like you to have such backbone. In that case, a month from now, I’ll personally send you to reunite with your foster parents in the underworld.” Duanmu Jie’s lips slightly curled into a sinister smile, looking at Ye Chen as if he were already a dead man.

Whoosh.

Immediately afterwards, he retrieved a Life and Death Contract from his sleeve, dripped a drop of blood on it, and then tossed it towards Ye Chen.

”Damn it, this despicable scum even prepared the Life and Death Contract. Ye Chen, do not sign it, or there will truly be no turning back.” Ouyang Xue’s teeth clenched tightly, eyes blazing with fury, and she spoke with extreme urgency.

Duanmu Jie had even prepared the Life and Death Contract for the Life and Death Battle Platform. Only a fool couldn’t see it was a trap set specifically for Ye Chen.

Once Ye Chen agrees, he truly falls into a pit of no return.

”Get lost.” At this moment, a surge of Celestial Spirits erupted from Ouyang Zhong’s body, directly knocking the Life and Death Contract away.

He had waited a long time for a Body Refining genius like Ye Chen, hoping that Ye Chen would pass the Hall Master’s test of the War King Hall and become the new Hall Master.

So how could he watch Ye Chen fall into Duanmu Jie’s trap?

He knew Ye Chen was presently blinded by hatred, losing reason and agreeing to Duanmu Jie’s challenge.

If he truly signed the Life and Death Contract, there would be no way to reverse the situation.

Even if he regrets it after coming to his senses, it would be too late.

”Ye Chen, you waste, you’re really a coward, aren’t you? Actually, your foster parents didn’t commit suicide out of fear of guilt; they were killed by people I sent. They must have been in immense pain and despair before they died. Don’t you want to avenge them?” Duanmu Jie held the Life and Death Contract with a playful look on his face, secretly transmitting to Ye Chen.

He was just one step away from ensnaring Ye Chen and wouldn’t let that old dog Ouyang Zhong ruin his scheme.

”Elder Ouyang, please don’t stop me. I won’t live as a man until I kill that beast.” Stimulated by Duanmu Jie, Ye Chen became even more frenzied, letting out an incomparably angry roar, as if possessed.

”Hmph! Ouyang Zhong, our Celestial Flame Academy has had a clear regulation since ancient times: no one can stop students from signing a Life and Death Contract. Are you trying to break our academy’s rules?” In the majestic hall, Duanmu Ying spoke with an icy tone, her body exuding an extremely terrifying power that made one’s soul tremble uncontrollably.

If Ouyang Zhong dared to continue interfering with Ye Chen and Duanmu Jie signing the Life and Death Contract, she would definitely act against Ouyang Zhong without hesitation.

”Alas, Ye Chen, why won’t you heed my advice?” Ouyang Zhong sighed helplessly, eyes filled with deep disappointment.

Buzz.

The next moment, he withdrew the Celestial Spirits surrounding Ye Chen back into his body, no longer stopping Ye Chen.

He understood that no matter what he said today, Ye Chen wouldn’t listen.

This, perhaps, is Ye Chen’s fate.

”Ye Chen, just sign it quickly, and you can take revenge for your foster father and mother.” Duanmu Jie said with a mocking tone, throwing the Life and Death Contract towards Ye Chen once again.

Ye Chen expressionlessly grabbed the Life and Death Contract and squeezed a drop of blood from his fingertip, letting it fall onto the contract.

”Hahaha! Useless, you’re doomed. In a month, I want to see who can save you. Cherish your remaining time.” Duanmu Jie couldn’t help but laugh, looking as if his scheme had succeeded.

”Oh my god! Ye Chen actually signed the Life and Death Contract with Senior Brother Duanmu. Has he gone mad?”

”With his strength, even if given a year’s time, he couldn’t possibly surpass Senior Brother Duanmu. What he’s doing is basically seeking his own death.” The new students watching exclaimed, looking at Ye Chen as if he were crazy.

”Heh! If you want to blame someone, blame him for being too foolish. Such a useless person with no self-awareness truly deserves death.” Duanmu Jie’s followers snickered, with schadenfreude expressions.

”Ye Chen, why are you so stupid?” Ouyang Xue’s body trembled violently, her face losing all its color.

If Ye Chen hadn’t dripped blood on the contract, there might still be a chance to turn things around.

But now, even if Ye Chen regrets it, it’s too late.

Once the Life and Death Contract is signed, a month later he must face Duanmu Jie on the Life and Death Battle Platform to decide life and death.

Even if he hides to the ends of the earth, the elders of the Celestial Flame Academy’s Law Enforcement Hall will surely capture him.

”Alas! The tide has turned. Too bad Ye Chen’s great talent will die at Duanmu Jie’s hands.” Ouyang Zhong sighed with deep regret in his eyes.

He truly wanted to cultivate Ye Chen as the new Hall Master of their War King Hall, leading them to a resurgence.

However, Ye Chen chose to stubbornly sign the Life and Death Contract with Duanmu Jie.

A month later, unless a miracle happens, Ye Chen will undoubtedly die at Duanmu Jie’s hands, without any suspense.

Even Ouyang Zhong has no way to save him.

”Hmph! Ye Chen, your death is imminent. No matter how remarkable your potential, it’s absolutely impossible for you to surpass Duanmu Jie in a month. Just go peacefully to your death.” Ye Lin’Er stared at Ye Chen with indifference, filled with mockery, as if looking at a man doomed to die.

She had waited for this day for a long time.

As long as Ye Chen remained alive, there was always a thorn in her heart, making her extremely uncomfortable.

But now, that thorn would soon be removed.

This time, no one can save Ye Chen, no matter where he flees.

”Senior Brother Duanmu, something’s happened.” At this moment, a middle-aged cultivator in a golden battle robe suddenly appeared next to Duanmu Jie, looking extremely grim.

This middle-aged cultivator turned out to be one of the Golden Dragon Guards of the Duanmu Family.

He was among those who captured Ye Chen’s foster father and mother.

”What happened?” Duanmu Jie’s brow furrowed slightly, a sense of foreboding rising in his heart.

”Someone broke into our Duanmu Jie’s Celestial Prison and rescued Ye Ming and Xiao Hui. Even our Golden Dragon Guards suffered heavy casualties.” The middle-aged cultivator spoke with a trembling voice.

”What? How is this possible?” Duanmu Jie’s pupils suddenly contracted, full of disbelief.

Duanmu Family is one of the six great families of the Royal Capital. In the Celestial Flame Dynasty, there’s hardly any power that dares to provoke them.

But now, someone broke into their family’s Celestial Prison, rescuing Ye Chen’s foster father and mother, heavily damaging the Golden Dragon Guards.

Who could possibly have such courage?

”My foster father and mother were rescued? Am I dreaming?” Ye Chen stood frozen, eyes filled with immense joy, akin to a journey from hell to heaven.

Never in this lifetime has he been so happy and excited as he is now.

”That’s great, Ye Chen’s foster father and mother are alive.” Ouyang Xue was overjoyed.

However, in the next moment, her brow furrowed tightly, deeply worried.

Even though Ye Chen’s foster father and mother weren’t dead, Ye Chen had already signed the Life and Death Contract with Duanmu Jie, leaving no path of retreat.

In a month, he still has to duel with Duanmu Jie to the death.
