Lin Da shook his head wildly. ”We were confused, okay? We were scared from the zombies, we were not thinking right. Miss Yan, you saved us, just look at how we are begging you now. We will do anything. Anything.”

Yan Cijin tilted her head a little, looking at them like they were making a very poor performance.

”Anything?” she repeated softly.

They all nodded immediately.

”Yes,” one of them said fast, almost crying now. ”Anything, anything you want.”

Yan Cijin looked at the blood pouring from Wang Bo’s chest and then back at the rest of them.

”You wanted to use a rope on me,” she said. ”You wanted to tie me up. You wanted to dirty me, then call it a joke?”

Their faces turned even uglier with fear.

”No, no, that is not what we meant,” Zhang Fan cried out. ”We were just confused, we were desperate, we had no choice.”

”No choice?” Yan Cijin asked. Her voice was still quiet, but the temperature in the room seemed to drop with every word. ”You had a choice. You chose this.”

She moved one step forward.

Just one step.

And all of them flinched like beaten dogs.

The man nearest the wall tried to run. He turned too fast, but Yan Cijin was faster. She grabbed the broken wooden chair beside her and slammed it into his back with enough force to throw him forward. He crashed into the wall and fell screaming. Before he could even turn around, she was already there. Her hand caught him by the throat and lifted him up just enough to stop his breath. His feet kicked helplessly against the floor.

”Please,” he choked out, his eyes bulging. ”Please, I do not want to die.”

Yan Cijin’s expression did not change.

”You should have thought of that earlier.”

Then she tightened her grip and threw him across the room.

His body smashed into the floor with a hard crack, and before he could crawl away, she took the steel pipe from Wang Bo’s chest and drove it down into him without hesitation. Blood spread fast. His cries stopped almost at once.

The others screamed.

One of them rushed at her in panic, maybe thinking numbers would help, maybe thinking he could grab her arm. He did not even get close. Yan Cijin kicked him in the stomach so hard that he doubled over and crashed into the table behind him. She stepped forward, caught his hair, and slammed his face against the table edge again and again until he stopped moving.

”Help me! Help me!” Zhang Fan screamed now, crawling backward on the floor like his life depended on speed alone. ”Yan Cijin, stop, stop, we were wrong, please, we were wrong!”

Yan Cijin turned toward him slowly.

”Wrong?” she said. ”No. You were disgusting.”

She walked toward him while he kept moving back, his palms slipping on the dusty floor, his mouth trembling. Lin Da tried to rush past her from the side, but she caught him by the wrist and twisted his arm so hard he screamed. The sound echoed in the room, sharp and ugly. He dropped to his knees, crying and begging, but she did not even blink. She used the broken end of the steel pipe and struck him once across the side of the head. The blow was brutal enough to make his body collapse sideways, and when he tried to crawl away, she finished him with another hard strike.

The room was now soaked with fear and blood.

The last two men were shaking so badly that neither of them could even stand properly.

One of them dropped to the floor and started bowing over and over again, crying and saying he was sorry, saying he had a mother, saying he had a wife, saying he did not want to die. The other tried to act brave for half a second, then saw Yan Cijin turn toward him and immediately lost all courage. He started backing away with both hands out, begging like his life had become the most precious thing in the world.

Yan Cijin did not rush.

She let them feel every second.

”Now you are afraid,” she said.

”We are sorry!” the man cried. ”We really are sorry! Please, Miss Yan, please spare us! We will never do it again, never, never again!”

She looked at him coldly. ”That is the problem. You only feel sorry because you got caught.”

He shook his head violently. ”No, no, it is not like that!”

Yan Cijin took one more step.

He immediately fell flat on the floor and covered his head with both hands.

”Please, please, please!”

Yan Cijin brought the steel pipe down beside him with a loud smash. The pipe shattered part of the floor, and the man screamed so hard his voice cracked. Before he could even finish screaming, she dragged him up by the collar and looked him straight in the eye.

”You were going to touch me while I slept,” she said. ”Did you think I would let that pass?”

He was crying so hard now that he could barely answer. ”We did not do it, we did not, we did not get the chance, so please, please, let us live.”

Yan Cijin stared at him for a moment, then gave a small, cold smile.

”That is not mercy. That is luck.”

Then she slammed his head into the wall.

The sound was dull and heavy.

He went limp right away.

The last one was already trying to crawl under the bed, as if hiding would save him. Yan Cijin saw him instantly. She walked over, bent down slightly, and pulled him out by the ankle. He shouted like a child, kicking wildly, but she dragged him back into the open. His face was covered in tears and dust. He was begging so fast that his words tangled together.

”I am sorry, I am sorry, I was forced, I was just following them, I did not want to do it, please, I beg you, I beg you!”

Yan Cijin looked down at him.

”You are lying.”

He froze.

Because he was.

That was what made her expression even colder.

She raised the steel pipe and held it there for one second, giving him time to understand what was about to happen. He stared up at her, shaking all over, and then his hands pressed together in a desperate plea.

”Please.”

Yan Cijin’s answer was quiet.

”No.”

Then she brought the pipe down.

After that, the room was finally silent.

Yan Cijin stood in the middle of the blood and broken bodies, breathing a little heavier now, but her hands were steady. She looked at Wang Bo’s corpse first, then at the others, one by one, as if checking whether any of them deserved even a second more of her attention. None did. Not one face in that room showed regret in a way that mattered. Only fear, only shame, only pain now that it was already too late. She felt no pity. Not even a little.

If anything, she felt cleaner.

Because people like them did not deserve to live by hiding behind her kindness.

She let out a slow breath and then spoke into the empty room, her voice calm again.

”This is what you get.”

No one answered.

Of course they could not.

Yan Cijin turned away from the bodies and wiped the blood off her hand with a piece of cloth from the floor. Her face was still cold, but now there was something more in it too. Not fear. Not sadness. Just a hard, sharpened understanding. She had helped them. She had protected them. She had used her own energy to bring them down the stairs. And they had answered that with lust, betrayal, and filth. That kind of lesson did not need to be learned twice.

She was done being naive.

And the next person who tried to use her kindness against her would not get the chance to beg at all.

Seeing that Yan Cijin did not speak and seemed to be lost in her own thoughts, Wang Bo immediately felt his face going hot with embarrassment. He had already put himself in a position where he wanted to sound important, and now that no one was paying him the response he wanted, he felt even more annoyed. He coughed lightly and straightened his back, then looked at Yan Cijin with a serious face as he said, ”There are still zombies outside. We’re all from the same hospital. I am your director, and I am responsible for the safety of all of you. Only by working together can we get out of here alive. So later, you all must follow orders...”

He was still speaking in that same self important tone, as if this terrifying situation was not an apocalypse but a normal meeting in the hospital. He really thought that by putting on the title of director, he could make everyone listen to him. His voice was full of authority, but the more he spoke, the more awkward he looked. The building was surrounded by zombies, people were scared, and yet he still wanted to act like the biggest person here.

Before he could finish,

Bai Li cut him off without even trying to be polite.

”Are you finished?” Bai Li interrupted Wang Bo’s long winded speech. She looked at Wang Bo and sneered, ”Even at a time like this, you still can’t resist putting on airs. It’s ridiculous.”

Her tone was sharp and full of mockery, and it made Wang Bo’s face turn even darker. Bai Li’s voice also pulled Yan Cijin back from her own thoughts. She raised her eyes and looked at Wang Bo coldly, as if she was looking at a dead piece of meat instead of a living person. The look in her eyes was quiet, but it was colder than any direct insult. Wang Bo had wanted to use his position to control the situation, but now it was obvious that no one here respected him.

Wang Bo, having lost face, became even more embarrassed. His expression stiffened for a moment, and then he pointed at Bai Li and said, ”Young woman, how can you talk like that? Even if you are not from our hospital, judging from your relationship with Dr. Yan, you must be her girlfriend, right? Hey, isn’t that family? Since you’re family, of course you have to cooperate with what the hospital leaders say, right?”

He tried to sound reasonable, but the way he spoke made him look even more shameless. He was not saying this because he truly cared about order or safety. He was saying it because he wanted to use whatever small connection she had to pressure Bai Li and Yan Cijin. He wanted to grab control with words since he clearly had no real power over them.

Bai Li did not even bother to look at him. In this apocalypse, he was still acting like some big shot. That kind of person deserved to die. Bai Li had no patience for people who only knew how to use rank and title to step on others. She already disliked Wang Bo, and now that Wang Bo had tried to use Yan Cijin against her, the dislike only got worse.

Bai Li had just sweated a lot while dealing with the zombies, and her throat felt dry. She reached into her backpack and pulled out a bottle of water. Just as she was about to unscrew the cap, Yan Cijin reached out and grabbed the bottle from her hand.

”Your hand is injured, let me do it.”

Her voice was calm and natural, like this was something she had always done. Bai Li was slightly stunned for a moment, but she let go right away. Yan Cijin took the bottle, twisted the cap open for her, and then handed it back.

”You drink first.”
