Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Nighttime, approaching midnight.

Lin Yu carried a basin of warm water from the kitchen into his room. After locking the door from the inside, he used the [Seeking Enemy Dagger] to cut his own wrist, then soaked it in the water basin.

Blood spread out, like a gorgeous Chinese flowering crabapple slowly blooming.

Lin Yu soaked his left hand in the basin. The wound submerged in hot water turned the originally sharp pain into something dull and lingering, throbbing continuously with the flow of blood.

So, Lin Yu simply started playing with his phone to distract himself.

He had been so busy dealing with the ’May May’ matter this week that he hadn’t really checked messages from others.

Regarding the ’Zhu Ming’ identity, it seemed he had missed some offline gathering of the ’Psychological Society’—this made Lin Yu feel a bit regretful, as it was originally a good opportunity to gather information or even make some moves.

At the same time, Li Nian sent a message saying that since Chen Zhuo couldn’t reach him, the ”payment” meant for him was temporarily stored with her, and he should pick it up when he had time.

Regarding the ’Old Yao’ identity, the ’Tycoon’ also wanted him to make an appearance when possible, as he was preparing to formally let him start contacting the core circle of ’Jiang’an Hall’.

As for the ’Heavenly Artisan’ side... with the failure of ’Almond’s’ operation, he was already barely remembered within the ’Marauders’, and now he was practically a non-entity.

However, Lin Yu did see some discussions about the Haicheng incident—within the ’Marauders’, there seemed to be different views on the temporary leaderless state of the ’Player Mutual Aid Association’: many ’Marauders’ members believed this might be an opportunity.

This actually indirectly confirmed that Li Hua’s judgment was correct.

Lin Yu originally wanted to see what movements the ’Diviner’ had, but unfortunately, there was no news at all within the ’Marauders’.

It seemed the ’Heavenly Artisan’s’ level was still not high enough;only being able to see ”public messages” indeed meant he couldn’t hear any truly core rumors.

Before Lin Yu came into contact with these high-level players, the ’Heavenly Artisan’s’ information was sufficient.

But now it seemed...

”Not just Old Yao, but the identity on the ’Marauders’ side also needs to be elevated...”

Lin Yu pursed his lips, simultaneously feeling a bit regretful.

He hadn’t had time to collect the payment from Chen Zhuo’s side, and there should have been some benefits to reap from the Tycoon’s side too.

If he hadn’t gone to Haicheng this week, he could have probably acquired some more [items] or similar things.

But fortunately, it was still sufficient now—although Lin Yu previously lacked some direct combat methods, now with the [Prayer Water Necklace] and the earlier [Item Integration Set] obtained from ’Order’, Lin Yu temporarily had no obvious weaknesses.

His [item] reserves were indeed very abundant compared to ordinary players—Lin Yu felt that many seasoned Second Tier players probably didn’t have as many [items] as he did!

Looking at his [item space] and doing a quick inventory, even Lin Yu couldn’t help but sigh.

”In a sense, I’m really quite well-off!”

Currently, the regular [items] Lin Yu possessed were: [One-Shot Revolver], [One-Statement Lie Detector], [Fear Torch], [Chate’s Supplies], [Fear Lens], [Active Map], [Ancient Notebook], [Employee ID Card (Vale Valetti)], [BBE-300], [Safety Helmet (White)], [Bone Crusher], [Bliss Immortal Pot (Miserly Wealthy One, Ice Blessing, Closed Mind)], [Reusable Flavor Papers], [Banquet Pendant], [Rage Spray], [Corner of the Gloomy], [Mind-Peeping Eyepiece], [Grumpy Little Fish], [Asylum Patient Gown], [Repaired Fog Pocket Watch], [Cyber Ghost’s Electronic Coffin], [Item Integration Set (Intermediate Protective Suit, Seeking Enemy Dagger, Reusable Universal Healing Potion, Reusable Universal Buff Potion)], [Prayer Water Necklace].

Plus the [Class Item·False Face], [Class Item·Counterfeit], and the one-use-remaining [Teeth of Prophecy] and [Tongue of Deceit], as well as the three ”summons” [Tiny Chef Apprentice], [Truth Corporation Security Department Delta Team Leader], [Wise One’s Active Brain]...

Lin Yu possessed a full 30 [items]!

Looking at this abundant item reserve, Lin Yu suddenly felt he wasn’t particularly panicked anymore.

Especially since he was now carrying three freshly generated BUFFs.

[Moonshine Affinity (144 hours)] which increased night vision and recovery speed, [Rock Climbing Proficiency (24 hours)] which enhanced wrist strength, endurance, and granted outdoor cross-country proficiency, and [Hound-Type Enhancement (48 hours)] which increased smell and hearing.

This was thanks to Lin Yu estimating that it was almost time to enter the game starting from the evening. Taking advantage of Lin Zhao not being back yet, he went downstairs to buy many snacks, cooked food, and ingredients, and began using the [Banquet Pendant] to gorge himself in his room.

He ate the snacks and cooked food directly, and asked Hannah to simply process the ingredients before hurriedly eating them too.

Although the BUFFs in the [Bliss Immortal Pot] didn’t need to be changed for now, it was still good to generate some to carry on his person into the dungeon.

After consuming nearly 20,000 calories worth of food, Lin Yu successfully generated three useful long-term beneficial BUFFs.

These three buffs, combined with the already permanent class abilities of ’Soldier’ and ’Doctor’, meant Lin Yu could have relatively strong direct combat power even without relying on items.

Even if he couldn’t actually trick any NPC, Lin Yu now felt that at least ensuring his own clearance shouldn’t be a problem.

”I hope the [Banquet Pendant] only increases appetite and doesn’t make my digestion and absorption also increase, causing me to get too fat. I have to go perform out of town in a few days... It would be too unfair to the audience if I got fat.”

”Senior would absolutely tease me about it too.”

Lin Yu sighed.

The time reached 11:57 PM. He was now experiencing slight dizziness due to blood loss.

And right at this moment, Lin Yu’s phone rang—a message from Shen Bingmiao popped up.

”Someone used a [Dungeon Chain Card] to send a player into the same [dungeon] as you, and it succeeded.”

”[Dungeon Chain Card] can only be used by players with ’Fourth Tier’ privileges. It has a probability of forcibly merging one player into another player’s [dungeon]. The usage conditions are very strict.”

”First, the tier and strength assessment gap between the two players cannot be too far apart. Second, the [dungeons] the two players are about to enter must originally be within the ’same realm’. Finally... the user must have had contact with both players and know both players’ IDs.”

”Even if all conditions are met, there is still a probability of failure.”

Looking at the message from his senior, Lin Yu felt surprised and quickly replied.

”Who is it? Which of my identities is targeted?”

”I don’t know who used it, but the invader is ’Twenty’. You should have had contact with him.”

”The targeted identity is naturally your ’May May’ identity!”

Seeing Shen Bingmiao’s message, Lin Yu let out a breath.

”Not even letting me rest during the ’[Promotion Trial]’... and the efficiency is quite high.”

But fortunately, Shen Bingmiao informed him in advance, which gave Lin Yu a lot of room to maneuver.

Even...

Lin Yu had already started thinking about how to use this point.

Although he hadn’t reached a conclusion yet, in the final few minutes before entering the game, Lin Yu could still figure out the first step he should take.

Lin Yu’s hand pressed against his face. He felt his consciousness beginning to blur!

The bloody text appeared before him as usual.

[Entering game shortly—]

Looking at this line of bloody text and feeling the customary dizziness before entering the game, Lin Yu murmured.

”Coming for ’May May’, is it?”

”Then get ready to come up empty!”

[False Face] activated, and Lin Yu’s facial features began to twist and change!
