Invincible Soul Emperor

Chapter 110: Chapter 110 Counterattack

The remaining four inner sect disciples grew increasingly alarmed as the battle waged on.

Not only had they failed to gain any advantage against Ye Qingchen, but he had managed to severely injure two or three of them.

Ye Qingchen’s strength seemed inexhaustible, growing more formidable as he fought. He was now actively overpowering them.

Hiding in the shadows, Li Zongrui seethed with anger. He hadn’t expected Ye Qingchen to be so strong. At this rate, the inner sect disciples’ defeat was certain.

These men had, of course, been enticed by Li Zongrui. Seeing that Ye Qingchen had secured victory at the alchemist conference, Li Zongrui had snuck away from the venue to find the yellow-faced man and his group of inner sect disciples.

Li Zongrui’s status as the Young Sect Master naturally made these disciples eager to curry his favor. Furthermore, Li Zongrui had promised that after teaching Ye Qingchen a lesson, they could keep all the low-grade spirit stones on him.

The scarcity and value of low-grade spirit stones, combined with the Young Sect Master’s status among the inner sect disciples, made them agree without the slightest hesitation.

Furthermore, the yellow-faced man had already reached the third layer of the Martial Master Realm. He was confident he could subdue Ye Qingchen even in a one-on-one fight, let alone with the help of four other disciples who were also Martial Masters.

Therefore, in the yellow-faced man’s mind, this task was nothing less than a windfall.

But he had never expected Ye Qingchen to be so formidable. Though merely at the second layer of the Martial Master Realm, he could single-handedly face five Martial Masters, one of whom was a minor realm higher than him at the third layer.

Though Li Zongrui was furious, it was not appropriate for him to personally intervene within the Qingyun Sect, so he could only shake his head and leave.

Li Zongrui knew that as the Young Sect Master of the Qingyun Sect, he had many ways to deal with Ye Qingchen. This was just a stroke of good luck for now; Li Zongrui didn’t believe his luck would last forever.

Not long after Li Zongrui left, Ye Qingchen seized an opportunity. With a swift palm strike, his Picking Leaf Hand sent the yellow-faced man flying four or five meters away. With that, all five inner sect disciples were defeated. They lay heavily injured on the ground, wailing and screaming in agony.

Within the Qingyun Sect, Ye Qingchen couldn’t kill without reason, but he still plundered their storage rings before departing gracefully.

Although Ye Qingchen disdained murder and robbery, he would not show mercy to those who dared to bully him.

As the yellow-faced man and his four companions watched Ye Qingchen stride away, their hearts bled.

They had come to extort Ye Qingchen, only to be plundered by him instead.

As Ye Qingchen left, he took a deep breath. Although he had narrowly won the fight, it was entirely due to the aid of his Double Pupils and his opponents’ initial arrogance and carelessness. This had allowed him to seize the opportunity and gain the upper hand by striking first.

Otherwise, even if he had emerged victorious, it would have been a pyrrhic victory, certainly not as effortless as this.

Sigh, my strength is still lacking. If I were at the third layer of the Martial Master Realm, I wouldn’t have had to take these people seriously at all. Ye Qingchen lamented to himself as he walked toward his courtyard.

The desire for power intensified his yearning for the Fen Tian Earth Fire. Once he obtained it, his strength would undergo an earth-shattering transformation. Only then would he truly possess the power to protect himself.

Now that he was an inner sect disciple, he was eligible to enter Redflame Mountain to search for the Fen Tian Earth Fire. He knew Li Zongrui wouldn’t miss an opportunity to oppose him. Therefore, he had to familiarize himself with the terrain of Redflame Mountain quickly and find the Fen Tian Earth Fire as soon as possible.

But before that, Ye Qingchen decided to return home first. Both Xiao Xiao and Ye Ying had already worried far too much about him.

If he didn’t return now, that little girl Xiao Xiao would probably start getting anxious again.

When Ye Qingchen returned to his small courtyard, he was surprised to find Hei Ze there. Xiao Xiao was ordering him around, acting like a little mob boss.

As soon as Ye Qingchen stepped through the door, he saw Xiao Xiao sitting in a chair in the center, constantly directing Hei Ze to wash and chop vegetables, heat the wok, and add the oil. Meanwhile, Xiao Xiao herself sat with her legs crossed, responsible only for giving orders.

Even Ye Ying had been assigned numerous tasks by Xiao Xiao. To an outsider, it would have surely looked like Xiao Xiao was the mistress of the house, while Ye Ying and Hei Ze were merely her servants.

At that moment, Hei Ze was feeling quite speechless. He was, after all, a Revered One of the Qingyun Sect, an existence on equal standing with the Sect Master.

Yet in Xiao Xiao’s presence, his status seemed to count for nothing. Not only was he expected to help her cook and clean, but now it had gone too far; Xiao Xiao wasn’t doing anything herself and was treating him like a common servant.

This wasn’t entirely Xiao Xiao’s fault. She felt her time with Ye Qingchen was growing short, and before she left, her greatest wish was to train Hei Ze to be her proper successor. That way, the Young Master would always have someone he could order around to take care of his daily life and needs.

And Xiao Xiao was not satisfied with Hei Ze. Although he was incredibly smart and could learn any menial task with ease, his biggest flaw was his lack of initiative.

He would only do exactly what he was told and never took the initiative to do anything more.

How was that acceptable?

Xiao Xiao knew Ye Qingchen had a kind heart and would never order Hei Ze around himself. If left to his own devices, wouldn’t Hei Ze just become idle, leaving Ye Qingchen to do everything himself?

If Hei Ze knew what was on Xiao Xiao’s mind, he probably would have been angry enough to spit blood.

As a Revered One of the Qingyun Sect, Hei Ze had always had others wait on him hand and foot; he had never served anyone. Now, he was diligently learning all sorts of menial tasks from Xiao Xiao, and she still wasn’t satisfied.

Ye Qingchen had just set foot in the courtyard when he witnessed this scene. He couldn’t help but feel a surge of warmth and said to Xiao Xiao, ”Xiao Xiao, you’re slacking off again, making Hei Ze do all the work.”

Upon hearing Ye Qingchen’s voice, Xiao Xiao quickly ran to greet him happily. But when she heard his reprimand, she pouted and retorted, ”What are you talking about, Young Master? This Hei Ze is always slacking off. If I don’t teach him, he’ll never learn anything!”

Xiao Xiao’s words nearly made the working Hei Ze stumble and fall. He just grinned without retorting and continued with his chores.

Ye Qingchen affectionately ruffled Xiao Xiao’s hair and said, ”Of course, I know my Xiao Xiao is the best. So, is the meal ready? I’m actually quite hungry.”

Xiao Xiao glanced at the stove and said, ”Young Master, the meal will be ready soon. Go change your clothes, quick! You smell of herbs!” She added brightly, ”We have to celebrate properly since you became the champion!”

Then she turned her sharp gaze back to the kitchen. ”Hei Ze, how can you be so clumsy? Hurry up! The chicken is about to burn. How is the Young Master supposed to eat it? From now on, don’t you dare go around telling people you’re my apprentice!”

The Revered One was left speechless.
