Invincible Soul Emperor

Chapter 43: Chapter 43: Surrounded by the Pack of Azure Wolves

Ye Family.

The Supreme Elder and Ye Changyun accompanied the Heavenly Profound Sect’s special envoy, who had come to investigate Wang Hu’s disappearance, by his side, their hearts filled with anxiety!

The envoy from Heavenly Profound Sect had already been here for nearly a month!

And showed no intention of leaving!

He even threatened that before the investigation was complete, no one from Ye Family—including the Supreme Elder and Ye Changyun—was allowed to leave Ye Family even half a step, or they’d be put to death without mercy!

Now, the two of them finally understood that the envoy was probably in cahoots with the Li Family, sent here specifically just to hold them back!

And the purpose was to give Li Zhe a chance to kill Ye Qingchen!

They couldn’t protect Ye Qingchen, and didn’t know whether he and Xiao Xiao could avoid Li Zhe’s pursuit.

Right now, all they could do was pray for the safety of Ye Qingchen and Xiao Xiao...

...

Deep inside Qingyun Mountain Range.

Within a hidden cave.

After more than twenty days of crazed cultivation, Ye Qingchen broke through two realms consecutively, from Martial Warrior Third Layer up to Martial Warrior Fifth Layer!

The speed of progress was actually much faster than even with dedicated training back in the clan!

Ye Qingchen figured it was because after just entering Qingyun Mountain Range, he fought monster beasts, then went all out evading Li Zhe’s pursuit—this completely awakened his body’s potential and his craving for power, letting his cultivation speed soar.

No wonder so many martial artists are obsessed with training through battle!

The improvement that real combat brings to cultivation is simply incomparable to just closing doors and cultivating painstakingly.

What amazed Ye Qingchen even more was that, in just over twenty days, Xiao Xiao’s cultivation had improved by another five layers, going straight from Martial Apprentice Fifth Layer to Martial Warrior Realm!

Such a frenzied pace of cultivation—Ye Qingchen had truly never seen anything like it!

And this made Ye Qingchen even more determined not to let Xiao Xiao stay in Northern Desolate Country and waste her talent!

”Young master, judging by the time, there’s only two or three days left until the end of this trial competition!”

During a break in their cultivation, the two began to chat. Xiao Xiao’s delicate face was full of guilt.

In her opinion, Ye Qingchen was forced to hide in this cave because he was taking care of her, unable to go out and kill monster beasts for points.

With Ye Qingchen’s current points, he simply couldn’t succeed in joining the six major sects.

Ye Qingchen smiled and patted Xiao Xiao on the head:

”Dummy! Even without you here, while being chased by Li Zhe, I wouldn’t be able to kill monster beasts smoothly like the others. Just means the six great sects and I aren’t meant to be.”

All along, Ye Qingchen’s dream had been to join the Northern Desolate Country’s number one sect, Qingyun Sect.

But now, it looked like that dream was going to be shattered!

As the two were talking—

”Whoosh!”

Suddenly, a figure burst in from outside. Seeing Ye Qingchen and Xiao Xiao hiding inside, he instantly recognized them, like grabbing onto a life-saving straw, and immediately yelled out:

”Ye Qingchen, help me!”

Seeing that figure, Ye Qingchen was stunned!

This person was someone he actually knew!

It was Huang Family’s Huang Yiwen, who had challenged him when trying to join the Rising Sun Pavilion’s herb-gathering caravan!

Right now, Huang Yiwen was covered in wounds, blood streaming from the cuts, his whole self almost a bloody man—looking utterly wretched!

Before Ye Qingchen could even speak, a beastly shadow darted in after Huang Yiwen!

Clearly, Huang Yiwen was being hunted by a monster beast, and by sheer luck had escaped into the cave where Ye Qingchen and Xiao Xiao were hiding.

”Ah!”

Seeing the monster beast, Huang Yiwen let out a scream and hurriedly hid behind Ye Qingchen.

He’d already been scared witless by this monster beast!

Ye Qingchen frowned—this was a Second Rank Blue Wolf. Its attack power matched a Human Martial Warrior, formidable indeed. No wonder Huang Yiwen was so desperately chased.

The Second Rank Blue Wolf saw Ye Qingchen and Xiao Xiao hiding in the cave, but didn’t hesitate—raising its claws, it slashed straight at Ye Qingchen’s throat!

Clearly, it didn’t think anything of Ye Qingchen at all!

Ye Qingchen’s gaze turned cold as he used Mystifying Steps to dodge the swinging claws, then punched directly at the Second Rank Blue Wolf!

Through-Back Binding Fist!

His fist smashed viciously into the Blue Wolf’s belly!

Precisely the weakest spot of its defenses!

”Bang bang bang bang bang bang bang bang bang!”

Nine detonations rang out in quick succession—the wolf’s belly burst open, guts and blood splattering everywhere as it died on the spot!

”Ding!”

Upon detecting Ye Qingchen had killed a Second Rank Blue Wolf, his wristband trembled, and Ye Qingchen’s points changed instantly from twenty up to seventy-four!

One Second Rank Blue Wolf added a whopping fifty-four points for Ye Qingchen!

”Killed with one punch!”

Seeing Ye Qingchen so fierce, Huang Yiwen was directly dumbstruck!

This was a Second Rank Blue Wolf—comparable to a human Martial Warrior!

It had chased him in utter misery!

Ye Qingchen killed it with just one move!

Which meant Ye Qingchen’s cultivation was at least at Martial Warrior Realm now!

Since their last meeting, in barely three months, Ye Qingchen had gone from Martial Apprentice Realm to Martial Warrior Realm!

This speed was just insane!

After being beaten up by Ye Qingchen last time, Huang Yiwen had harbored resentment, working hard to improve his cultivation to Martial Apprentice Ninth Layer, determined to someday get revenge and beat up Ye Qingchen for payback!

Now he realized that Ye Qingchen was only pulling further and further ahead!

They weren’t even on the same level anymore!

”Ye Qingchen, thank you for saving my life!”

Having lost all thoughts of revenge, Huang Yiwen now admired Ye Qingchen to the bone. As he tended his wounds, he offered heartfelt thanks.

But Ye Qingchen didn’t have time for Huang Yiwen, and immediately grabbed Xiao Xiao, saying sternly:

”We can’t stay here! Move!”

Blue Wolves are pack animals; they’d never act alone!

The appearance of this Second Rank Blue Wolf meant there’d be more nearby!

If other wolves tracked them here, they’d be trapped—a whole pack attacking at once, and they’d be dead for sure!

Watching the two rapidly flee, Huang Yiwen was totally confused, but the next moment, hearing several mournful howls outside, his expression changed dramatically and he rushed out of the cave!

”Whoosh!”

A wolf’s shadow pounced, directly knocking Huang Yiwen down, sinking its teeth into his throat—a shrill scream erupted instantly throughout the dense forest!

After killing Huang Yiwen, the Second Rank Blue Wolf didn’t linger, but immediately chased after Ye Qingchen and Xiao Xiao as they fled ahead!

It could sense the scent of its dead packmate lingering on Ye Qingchen!

”Awoo——”

As it gave chase, the Second Rank Blue Wolf howled madly to summon its pack, calling for them to surround and kill Ye Qingchen and Xiao Xiao.

”Shit!”

Feeling the Second Rank Blue Wolf closing in behind them, Ye Qingchen’s face changed drastically!

He’d already taken Xiao Xiao and escaped at the first chance, but hadn’t expected to still get locked onto by the Blue Wolf!

And now it was calling for its pack—this was really bad!

Right now, Ye Qingchen had only two choices!

Either quickly kill this Second Rank Blue Wolf to end the pursuit!

Or break away from its tracking at speed!

The Second Rank Blue Wolf was just too fast. With Xiao Xiao in tow and this thing locked onto them, escape was impossible!

The only option now was to kill it!

Making up his mind, Ye Qingchen let go of Xiao Xiao’s hand, whirled around, and charged straight at the sprinting Second Rank Blue Wolf!

The Blue Wolf bared its fangs, leapt at Ye Qingchen, jaws wide, bloody razor-sharp teeth aiming for Ye Qingchen’s neck!

It wanted to tear apart the hateful human who’d killed its packmate!

At the instant before they collided, Ye Qingchen sidestepped, dodging its bite, and drove his fist out hard!

”Bang bang bang bang bang bang bang bang bang!”

His fist smashed into the Blue Wolf’s belly, nine explosions sounded, and the wolf howled, dying on the spot!

One strike kill!

”Ding!”

The wristband chimed softly, and the number on it changed again—in an instant, seventy-four points jumped to a hundred and thirty!

Without pause, Ye Qingchen rushed to Xiao Xiao, grabbed her, and they fled fast into the distance!

With no wolf on their tail, as long as they fled far enough and wiped away the wolf’s scent, they’d be safe!

Yet after only a mile, Ye Qingchen and Xiao Xiao had to stop!

Because just ahead of them, a whole dozen-odd Second Rank Blue Wolves blocked their path!

And when Ye Qingchen tried to turn back and escape, there were yet another dozen Second Rank Blue Wolves—eyes gleaming with bloodlust—closing in behind!

Ye Qingchen’s face went ashen in an instant!

After all, they hadn’t escaped!

They were surrounded by a wolf pack!

Meanwhile, at the VIP seats at Qingyun Mountain Range’s entrance, Du Pengcheng stared at the bottom of the leaderboard, eyes suddenly lighting up!

He noticed that Ye Qingchen’s score at the bottom had changed!

And it was a dramatic jump!
