Reborn in the 90s with a Space: Winning Back My Husband

”Yes, coming!”

Gu Yaohui didn’t even need to ask. Nanny Xu had gone to prepare refreshments the moment she welcomed Shen Nian inside. Just as he finished speaking, Nanny Xu appeared with a tray of tea and snacks.

”Miss Shen, I wasn’t sure what you like, so I prepared a little bit of everything. Please, have a taste.”

”Thank you, Nanny Xu.”

Shen Nian could feel the sincerity in Nanny Xu’s voice and didn’t want to disappoint her. She sampled all the snacks Nanny Xu served, and even took a few extra bites of the ones she particularly enjoyed.

Nanny Xu was delighted to see Shen Nian enjoying her homemade snacks and silently made a mental note of her favorites.

’The next time Shen Nian visits, I’ll make these for her.’

Shen Nian had no idea that Nanny Xu was already looking forward to her next visit. Before arriving, she had assumed the Gu family would be eager for her to start the treatment immediately. She never expected them to let her rest for a good while first.

Of course, Shen Nian didn’t think the Gu family was unconcerned about treating their sick relatives. ’This can only mean they hold me in high regard!’

A warmth spread through Shen Nian’s heart. Her already favorable impression of the Gu family had just improved even more.

However, Gu Hengzhi had personally driven her here, so she wasn’t tired in the slightest. Besides, she was actually quite curious about the Gu family’s two patients.

”Uncle Gu, Brother Gu already explained the situation to me before I arrived. Shall we check on Aunt Gu first, or Grandpa Gu?”

Shen Nian figured the Gu family was probably too embarrassed to bring it up themselves. ’In that case,’ she thought, ’it makes no difference if I’m the one to start the conversation.’

”Let’s see your Aunt Gu first. However, her situation is a bit unusual. Please, try not to let it bother you.”

Gu Yaohui said to Shen Nian, a look of embarrassment on his face.

Huh? Shen Nian was a little puzzled. She only knew that the lady of the Gu house had been chronically ill and bedridden for years, but she didn’t know any specific or unusual details about her condition.

”Grandpa Gu is currently recovering at a sanatorium, while my aunt is here at home. She was severely traumatized by Ke’er’s disappearance, so her illness isn’t just physical; it has had a profound psychological impact. Sometimes, when she sees people, she can have some... unexpected reactions.”

Gu Hengzhi stepped in to explain on Gu Yaohui’s behalf. He was, in fact, also worried. He was worried his aunt might react to Shen Nian the same way she had with Gu Shuxin.

If that were to happen, he was afraid it would frighten or upset Shen Nian.

”Oh, I see. It’s alright, I understand. So, no matter how Aunt Gu reacts, I won’t take it personally. Please, don’t worry.”

”Alright, then let’s head upstairs now.”

”Okay.”

Gu Yaohui and Gong Shiya’s bedroom was upstairs. For all these years, Gu Yaohui had been the one taking care of her. Even Gu Hengzhi only ever saw Gong Shiya leave her room on the rare occasions when she seemed normal.

As for Gu Zifan, even though he was Gu Yaohui and Gong Shiya’s biological son, he rarely had the chance to be near his mother because of her condition. In fact, the few memories he did have of her were not pleasant ones.

Therefore, knowing he was about to see Gong Shiya, Gu Zifan was quite nervous.

He was so nervous that Shen Nian, who was holding his hand, could feel his anxiety.
