A 10,000-fold Increase System, Picking Up Garbage and Becoming a Technology Giant

105: Chapter 105 Killing the Mutant Wolf!Chen Fan did not hesitate. He threw away the entrenching shovel and jumped into the driver’s seat. The diesel engine of the mengshi off-road vehicle roared, its wheels digging deep pits into the sandy ground as the vehicle charged toward the sound of gunfire like an arrow leaving a bowstring.

Nine kilometers, advancing at full speed across the Gobi Desert, was only a matter of seven or eight minutes.

But when Chen Fan was halfway there, the gunfire had already become sparse, while the howling of wild beasts grew more dense and frenzied.

”Xiao Zhi, full speed!”

The speedometer needle of the mengshi off-road vehicle pressed against the far right of the dial, and the chassis nearly took flight amidst the bumps. Chen Fan gripped the steering wheel tightly, his eyes fixed forward—after passing a stretch of low earthen mounds, he finally saw the battlefield.

Three modified off-road vehicles were arranged in a triangular formation, their bodies covered in scratches and dents from impacts. Three or four people lay on the ground, their status unknown. Those still standing were backed against the vehicles, firing their guns, but the bullets had minimal effect on those ”wolves.”

Those were no ordinary Gobi wolves.

They were a size larger than normal wolves, nearly a meter tall at the shoulder, with muscles bulging to an unnatural degree. Large patches of fur had fallen off, revealing dark red, festering skin beneath; in some places, pale white bones were even visible. Their eyes were a murky yellow, pupils shrunk to the size of pinheads, and saliva mixed with blood foam dripped from their mouths.

The most eerie thing was their movement—extremely fast, unreasonably so, covering seven or eight meters in a single leap. When their claws scraped the ground, the hard earth and stones of the Gobi Desert were easily torn apart. After being hit, they didn’t stop at all unless struck in the head or spine; bullets became embedded in their muscles, and what flowed from their wounds wasn’t blood, but a thick, foul-smelling, dark green liquid.

”Long Zaifei’s omega virus biochemical infection...” Chen Fan gritted his teeth.

He saw Fu Dong. The materials scientist was leaning against the hood of the middle vehicle, holding a shotgun. His face was deathly pale, and there was a deep, bone-deep claw wound on his left arm, with blood soaking half his sleeve. Two team members lay beside him; one’s chest had been torn open and was no longer moving, while the other clutched a broken leg, screaming in agony.

Seven others were still resisting, but they were almost out of ammunition.

An infected wolf pounced at Fu Dong from the side. It was so fast that Fu Dong had no time to turn his gun—

Chen Fan jerked the steering wheel, and the mengshi off-road vehicle slammed violently into the wolf from the side!

”Bang!”

Amidst the heavy impact, the wolf was sent flying five or six meters. It rolled a few times on the ground but actually managed to stagger back up—its ribs were clearly broken, and internal organs spilled from its ruptured abdomen, yet it still moved, letting out a distorted howl.

Chen Fan slammed on the brakes and pushed the door open to get out.

”Chen Fan?!” Fu Dong’s eyes widened. ”How did you—”

”Get down!”

Chen Fan had no time to explain. Three infected wolves had already switched targets and were lunging toward this new threat.

Chen Fan did not dodge.

He charged toward the first wolf. At the moment its claws were about to strike his face, he sidestepped. His right hand shot out like lightning, his fingers clamping onto the wolf’s cervical spine like iron pincers—his enhanced strength erupted, and he gave a violent twist!

”Crack!”

The crisp sound of the cervical spine snapping was exceptionally clear in the gaps between gunfire. The wolf’s body went limp, but Chen Fan’s brow furrowed—he felt that the tactile sensation under his hand was wrong. The wolf’s bone density was abnormally high, and its muscle fibers were as tough as rubber; if not for his current strength being far beyond an ordinary person’s, he wouldn’t have been able to snap it at all.

The other two wolves had already pounced.

Chen Fan released the dead wolf and, instead of retreating, advanced. He ducked between the two wolves and struck out with both fists, hitting their ribs.

”Thump! Thump!”

The dull thuds sounded as if he were hitting solid rubber tires. The two wolves were sent flying, their ribs caving in, but after struggling a couple of times upon landing, they stood up again—their pain receptors had clearly failed.

”Aim for the head! Only a headshot can kill them for good!” Fu Dong roared from behind.

”Xiao Zhi, attack their heads,” Chen Fan said.

The droplet-shaped Xiao Zhi moved with lightning speed, using the simplest and most brutal method—pop, pop, pop—like firecrackers going off, it blew off the heads of all the wolves.

Then another wolf pounced. Chen Fan stepped to the side and used the tip of his entrenching shovel to precisely pierce its left eye, penetrating the skull and driving straight into the frontal lobe of the brain. The wolf’s howling stopped abruptly, its body twitched twice, and it fell to the ground.

The second and third wolves attacked simultaneously from both sides. Chen Fan ducked low and swung the entrenching shovel horizontally.

Pop, pop, pop, pop. Xiao Zhi entered firecracker mode again.

Two seconds.

Eight infected wolves, wiped out.

Finally, the largest alpha wolf—which had been hiding in the back and had not participated in the siege—let out an extremely sharp howl, turned, and fled.

Trying to run?

”Xiao Zhi, leave this one to me.” Chen Fan was afraid Xiao Zhi would kill it too, so he warned it in advance. Chen Fan bent down and picked up a fist-sized Gobi stone from the ground.

Amplification!

[Amplification Triggered: 100x Density + ”Auto-Tracking” Effect]

The stone became as heavy as iron in his hand, and fine guiding patterns appeared on its surface. Chen Fan aimed at the fleeing back of the alpha wolf and threw it with all his might—

The stone cut through the air, tracing an arc that actually adjusted its direction automatically, precisely striking the back of the alpha wolf’s head.

”Thwack!”

The sound of a skull shattering. The alpha wolf tumbled forward, its limbs twitching a few times before it stopped moving.

The battle ended, and the battlefield fell into a deathly silence.

Only the sound of the wind remained, along with the suppressed groans of the wounded.

Fu Dong slumped by the vehicle, staring at Chen Fan, his lips trembling, unable to speak for a long time. The other surviving team members were also dumbfounded, watching the back of the man who had slaughtered the wolf pack as if a divine warrior had descended.

Chen Fan walked over to Fu Dong and knelt down to check his wound.

Fortunately, he was wearing the vest Chen Fan had given him; otherwise, he might have lost his life here.

However, the wound on his arm was still very deep, its edges already beginning to turn black, and the blood seeping out was mixed with dark green filaments. The infection had already begun.

”Bear with it.” Chen Fan pulled a bottle of water from his backpack.

This was ”Purified Super Disinfectant” that had undergone Amplification, possessing both healing and powerful disinfecting effects.

He washed the wound with the water. Fu Dong’s forehead broke out in sweat from the pain, but he gritted his teeth and didn’t make a sound.

”These wolves... are they products leaked from the Long Corporation laboratory?” Chen Fan asked in a low voice.

Fu Dong nodded with difficulty. ”We were originally going to... the meteorite crater to collect samples... these wolves suddenly rushed out...”

Chen Fan treated all the other wounded members with the disinfectant.

Fu Dong panted and said, ”We brought shotguns... but we couldn’t kill them at all... bullets hitting their bodies were like tickling them... Little Li, Old Zhao, they...”

Fu Dong’s eyes turned red.

Chen Fan silently helped him bandage the wound, stood up, and looked at the corpses of the wolves.

”Chen Fan...” Fu Dong struggled to stand up. ”You have to leave this place... the military has already blockaded the main areas of this Gobi Desert. It’s not safe here...”

”I know. I’ll take you to the hospital first.” Chen Fan looked at the surviving team members. ”Can you still drive?”

A team member with an injured arm nodded. ”Yes... but two of the tires were bitten through. We need to change to spares...”

”Hurry up.” Chen Fan glanced at the sky; it was almost noon. ”This area isn’t safe. Those wolves might have companions.”

He helped change the tires and lifted the wounded into the vehicles. The research team originally had twelve people, but now only ten were alive, three of whom were seriously injured.

Chen Fan helped Fu Dong into his own vehicle. ”I’ll take you to the medical base.”

”Thanks to you today, otherwise we would have all died here. How did you get here so quickly?” Fu Dong was still shaken after his narrow escape.

”It was a coincidence. I was nearby looking for meteorites, then I heard gunfire and came over to find you being attacked by vicious wolves,” Chen Fan explained as reasonably as possible.

”That iron lump of yours is great—fast, accurate, and ruthless.” Fu Dong was still shocked when he saw Xiao Zhi killing the vicious wolves.

”It’s called Xiao Zhi. It’s a small toy I developed,” Chen Fan smiled.

The three off-road vehicles wobbled away, disappearing into the Gobi Desert horizon.
