Chapter 152: Chapter 5: The Nine Demon Lords (Subscribe Please)

Inside the stronghold, hundreds of demon chiefs had murderous intentions reaching for the skies.

Yet, they found themselves involuntarily kneeling and kowtowing the instant they saw Lin Yuan.

This was an incomparable suppression, emanating from the depths of the soul, as if all demon chiefs who practiced demonic cultivation in the world were under its ‘jurisdiction’.

“How is this possible…”

The sinister young man Bian Mao knelt on the ground, unable to move, waves of shock flooding his heart.

With his strength, even if he encountered a peak existence of the Ninth Realm, he might not be able to fight or escape, but he wouldn’t just kneel directly.

Yet now, not only had he, Bian Mao, knelt down, but all the demonic arts and forbidden techniques inside him had fallen eerily silent.

...
This was simply unthinkable.

“This Xiahou Yuan…”

A chill ran down the spine of the sinister young man Bian Mao.

He finally understood why the seasoned demon chiefs, who had lived through the era thirty years ago, were panicked upon hearing that Xiahou Yuan had emerged from the Great Abyss,

They were not considering hunting him down, not even entertaining a thought of hostility.

At that time, he, Bian Mao, had been somewhat contemptuous,

even mocking those seasoned demon chiefs for being so terrified by Xiahou Yuan that they hadn’t emerged for decades.

However, facing Xiahou Yuan directly, the sinister young man Bian Mao deeply realized

just how terrifying Xiahou Yuan, who once dominated the demons of the Five Domains and was known as ‘Demon Lord’, truly was….

His own grand ambitions to replace Xiahou Yuan and become the next legendary figure now seemed ludicrous.

If Xiahou Yuan were so easy to deal with, then upon learning he had emerged from the Great Abyss, the Nine Great Demon Lords of the Five Domains would have come to hunt him down already.

How could a ‘lesser Demon Lord’ like himself possibly get a head start?

“It turns out, we were being used…”

Yin Shiliu, also kneeling on the ground, suddenly realized something.

Their operation was not exactly clandestine; a few of the Nine Great Demon Lords were aware of it.

Yet from the beginning to the end, they had encountered no hindrances; instead, everything went unusually smoothly, easily pinpointing Xiahou Yuan’s location.

Before this, Yin Shiliu had merely thought it was Providence aiding him.

But now, they, the young generation, had clearly become the ‘knife’ in the hands of those seasoned demon chiefs.

Those seasoned demon chiefs, including the Nine Great Demon Lords, having experienced the era of Xiahou Yuan, knew too well the terror he wielded.

That’s why, even upon learning that Xiahou Yuan had just stepped out of the Great Abyss and couldn’t possibly be in peak condition, they still dared not make a move.

To those seasoned demon chiefs, the rise of this younger generation was an unexpected delight.

With the tacit agreement of several Demon Lords, they gathered together and discussed the hunting of the legendary demon chief, Xiahou Yuan.

Little did they know, all of their actions were under the scrutiny of those seasoned demon chiefs.

With great caution, they used them to test Xiahou Yuan.

If they managed to kill Xiahou Yuan, it would be tantamount to helping those seasoned demon chiefs eliminate a major worry.

If not… it had nothing to do with those seasoned demon chiefs; from beginning to end, this young generation of demon chiefs had never collaborated with them on anything; all actions were of their own volition.

“Master… why hasn’t Master come…”

“Xiahou Yuan is too terrifying…wah wah wah wah…”

The girl in a light green dress crushed the jade amulet in her hand; according to the plan she had with her master, as soon as she crushed the amulet, her Ninth Realm master would come at the fastest speed and end everything.

At that time, whether it was the lesser Demon Lord Bian Mao or Yin Shiliu, both could only kneel under her skirt.

But she had ground the jade amulet into dust, and her master still hadn’t arrived.

…

In front of the wooden hut,

Lin Yuan looked at all the demon chiefs kneeling on the ground.

His expression showed no surprise.

As soon as he had arrived in this world, Lin Yuan knew that Xiahou Yuan had a near-terrifying suppressive power over all demon chiefs.

Of course, this suppressive power was not without limit.

It had to be within the same realm.

For example, when Xiahou Yuan was in the Seventh Realm, all demon chiefs of the Seventh Realm and below

would be suppressed in his presence; even those at the peak of the Seventh Realm could not escape this suppression and would have no choice but to kneel and kowtow upon encountering Xiahou Yuan.

If it were a demon chief of the Eighth Realm, they might mitigate the suppression, but they would only ensure they would not have to kneel and kowtow; attacking Xiahou Yuan was something they would not dare to contemplate.

Decades ago, how did Xiahou Yuan gain dominance over the demon chiefs of the Five Domains? Was it simply by force? By strength?

The Tianjian Sect and other righteous forces had not dominated the Demonic Dao for so many years, so how could Xiahou Yuan have managed it?

Even if one’s strength were great, for those demon chiefs and Demon Lords, they could simply choose to stay far away.

If they couldn’t defeat him, couldn’t they just hide?

Even against the righteous forces, when faced with a Tenth Realm powerhouse of righteousness, demon chiefs could indeed hide.

For tens of thousands of years, three Tenth Realm powerhouses had emerged from the Tianjian Sect.

Even so, at most, they made the demon chiefs of the Five Domains fall silent and disappear for a few hundred years; once the Tenth Realm powerhouse died, the demon chiefs would emerge again.

But Xiahou Yuan managed to make all the demon chiefs of the Five Domains submit, and strength alone was definitely not enough to explain it.

Lin Yuan, suppressed on the eighteenth layer beneath the Great Abyss Ground, chose the most torturous method to recover his strength instead of simply letting his Primordial Spirit exit the body and seek a new vessel.

He was concerned that if he changed bodies, he would lose this suppressive power.

He knew that even without this natural means to suppress demons, Lin Yuan was destined to be invincible in the world.

But having it in advance could definitely help him avoid some detours.

Moreover, Lin Yuan was also quite curious: what was the principle behind this ‘suppression’?
