Get Stronger by Pleasing Pokémon? Who Needs to Be a Trainer!

Having made up his mind, Takeo gathered his courage again and turned toward Lin Feng.

”It’s like this, big brother! Do you know about the legend of the earth vein?”

[Oh? Go on.] Lin Feng replied with interest.

Of course, Lin Feng knew the story of the earth vein.

After all, Zoroark, the Pokémon of its former guardian, was still sitting behind him.

But he wanted to hear the story directly from this child.

Takeo gathered his thoughts and began explaining.

[In our Bailin Village... no, no, in the entire Earth God Mountain Range, there is a...]

He became increasingly absorbed in his own story.

Perhaps because he was excited, he even waved his arms around while talking, despite the fact that they were flying through the sky.

The story itself was not much different from what Lin Feng already knew.

What surprised Lin Feng was that the child actually knew about the former guardian of the earth vein.

”That’s right. That’s how the earth vein came to be.”

”And its guardian supposedly had a very powerful Pokémon.”

”Unfortunately, no one can find it anymore...”

[But so much time has passed now, and nobody in the village believes in the legend of the earth vein anymore. Someone spent a huge amount of money building roads through the village. Then they claimed they had discovered an evolution stone deposit underground and wanted to start digging into the earth vein again!]

[I had no choice. I started spreading the legend of the earth vein everywhere and used Alliance regulations to stop them!]

When he said this, a trace of pride appeared on the boy’s face.

According to Alliance regulations, if an ancient legend had not been disproven, or if it was recognized and respected by a significant portion of the local population, construction that might damage the site was strictly prohibited.

Because of this regulation, the road construction and excavation projects had been suspended for the past few days.

If they wanted to resume construction, they first had to stop these two children from spreading the legend.

”I see.”

Lin Feng nodded.

His Aura had already spread downward.

He could sense a large number of heavy excavation machines parked below.

No wonder they had stopped outside the mountain.

There was even an Officer Jenny standing nearby to keep watch.

Everything made sense now.

Come to think of it, this kid had actually done something good.

However, the information he had just received also made Lin Feng realize something important.

The effects of Mega Evolution Stones might already have been discovered.

And now, someone wanted to enter the mountains specifically to mine them.

That was going to be troublesome.

An item capable of giving a Pokémon an enormous surge of power in an instant...

To be honest...

It would have been fine if the news never got out.

But once the information was made public, countless people would come rushing after them.

Behind Lin Feng, Zoroark listened to the child’s explanation.

It was filled with mixed emotions.

At the same time, a faintly mocking smile appeared on its face.

How long had it been?

The previous disaster had happened only a little over a decade ago.

And already, people were trying to interfere with the earth vein again.

Zoroark shook its head.

It wanted to say something.

But there was nothing it could say.

At present, it had no other thoughts.

It only wanted to accomplish what it had come here to do.

”Those people are bad guys!”

The little girl, who had been sitting quietly behind Lin Feng, seemed to realize that he was easy to talk to.

She timidly spoke up.

”And you’re a really powerful Trainer, aren’t you, big brother?”

[Well... technically speaking, I’m not a Trainer. That’s not my main profession. But I can pass as one when necessary. And I’m pretty strong.]

Lin Feng scratched his head and smiled.

Takeo immediately seized the opportunity.

”Then can you help us?”

”The earth vein really can’t be damaged anymore!”

”If it’s destroyed, the earth will become angry again!”

”The disaster from more than ten years ago will happen all over again!”

The moment those words left the boy’s mouth, however, Lin Feng’s expression beneath his mask froze.

He glanced backward.

Takeo’s face was filled with sincerity.

Lin Feng remained silent.

Then he looked at Zoroark behind him.

Even through its illusion, Lin Feng could still clearly see its expression.

It looked completely unconcerned.

As if none of this had anything to do with it.

Lin Feng found that strange.

After thinking for a moment, he reached over and patted the boy’s head.

A smile appeared on his face.

”Okay, okay.”

”Leave it to me.”

”Your big brother here is pretty strong!”

”And I happen to have quite a few connections too...”

With that, Lin Feng had Dragonite descend toward the village.

.....

At the edge of the town, Lin Feng landed with Zoroark and the two children.

The very first thing he did was make a phone call.

”Beep... beep...”

The call connected.

A familiar voice immediately came from the other end.

[You brat! What did you do?! And what was the deal with Dialga, the God of Time?!]

Yep.

The person Lin Feng had called was Feng Yang.

If anyone in the entire Alliance had the greatest authority when it came to dealing with matters like this, it was probably Feng Yang.

But the moment Lin Feng heard the question, he froze.

Then he felt a little embarrassed.

Sure enough...

Anime had lied to him.

Apparently, putting on a mask wasn’t enough to fool everyone.

The battle between Lugia and Dialga, along with Giratina’s appearance, had ultimately allowed Feng Yang to figure out that it was him.

[Ahem...]

Lin Feng felt awkward.

After all, Dialga really had been drawn there because of him.

Immediately after the battle, Lin Feng had watched the evening news.

When he saw that the only reported incidents were some minor disturbances in coastal cities, he finally breathed a sigh of relief.

The news report had described it as:

”Typhoon passing through the region. Fishing vessels advised to remain in port. Emergency evacuation drills conducted...”

”God of Time, Dialga.”

”God of the Sea, Lugia.”

”And Latias...”

”There were also two others...”

Feng Yang fell silent for a moment.

”We don’t know what those two Pokémon were.”

Feng Yang, who was currently far away in Jinghua City, felt a massive headache coming on.

Judging by what they had seen, all of those Pokémon were probably Legendary Pokémon.

Lugia was relatively easy to identify.

As for Dialga, the Alliance’s information department had obtained records about it from the Sinnoh Region.

According to the information they had gathered, Dialga was the deity said to govern time and possessed unimaginable power.

As for the enormous Pokémon that had emerged from the shadows beneath the sea like some ancient dragon...

Even the Sinnoh Region had no information about it.

That mysterious Pokémon had instead attracted the attention of several mythologists in Sinnoh.

But there was one thing Feng Yang simply could not understand.

Why did all these Legendary Pokémon seem to have some kind of connection with Lin Feng?

The kid barely even left home.

And yet, one Legendary Pokémon after another kept appearing around him!

Wasn’t he just good at cooking?

[Ahem. Let’s not talk about that for now.]

Lin Feng tried to change the subject.

”No.”

”We’re talking about this first.”

”But I actually called you about something related to Regigigas from more than ten years ago.”

”If we don’t handle it properly, there’s a chance that incident could happen again...”

”Then we’ll talk about that after you tell me about this.”

”Go on. What happened?”

The moment he heard another Legendary Pokémon being mentioned, Feng Yang felt his eyelids twitch.

His expression immediately became serious.

This was no longer something he could afford to treat casually.
