Get Stronger by Pleasing Pokémon? Who Needs to Be a Trainer!

On the other side, Lin Feng, busy frying eggs, caught sight of the scene and smiled with quiet satisfaction.

Just as he’d imagined, the Dragonite’s temperament was wonderfully gentle.

He finished another ten eggs, plated them, then noticed the heat from the griddle shifting. Glancing to the side, he saw the Combusken breathing fire while drooling.

Maybe it was because of the drool, but the temperature of the flames had started to rise.

After a moment’s thought, Lin Feng said earnestly, ”Control the intensity of your flames. If you can keep your fire steady even while distracted by temptation, your skill control will improve dramatically in the future!”

Combusken didn’t reply it was still breathing fire but deep down, it had the nagging feeling that its Trainer was pulling one of his motivational tricks again.

”In fact,” Lin Feng added slyly, ”let’s put it another way. If you can’t keep the heat under control, these eggs won’t turn out tasty. And if they’re not tasty, you’re the one who’ll have to eat them all.”

Combusken: ”???”

That got its full attention. It immediately became hyper-focused on keeping its flames steady, terrified that Lin Feng might actually ruin the flavor.

”Heh…”

Seeing Combusken so easily manipulated, Lin Feng let out a quiet chuckle.

On the griddle, an egg was sizzling away, its edges crisping in the oil. While the yolk was still soft, he drizzled in a little honey and seasoning, then flipped it.

He also turned over the ribs he had been grilling to one side.

Given the number of Pokémon in his care these days, making a hundred eggs wouldn’t be unusual.

After all, besides Combusken, there were also twenty Pidgey and Pidgeotto…

Thinking of the Pidgeotto made him recall Mew. Quickly, he glanced up at the pine tree.

He counted still twenty-one Pidgey and Pidgeotto.

Good. Mew hadn’t left yet.

When the ten eggs were done, Lin Feng quickly checked their info:

A+ Grade Honey Omelet – Fried using Sweet Honey, creating a comforting sweetness that boosts happiness.

Effect 1: After eating, the Pokémon will experience a short burst of intense happiness.

Effect 2: Long-term consumption speeds up energy absorption.

Faster digestion, huh?

Lin Feng nodded. Not bad especially for Combusken.

It ate a lot, so faster digestion meant quicker progress toward its next evolution.

Then, as if a thought struck him, Lin Feng walked into the garden under Combusken’s puzzled gaze. He picked a handful of leaves, crushed them into a pulp, and set the bowl aside.

He resumed cooking, occasionally adding a pinch of the leaf mixture into the eggs.

At his current pace, it took barely ten minutes to finish a hundred eggs, each releasing a mouthwatering sweet aroma.

He checked the updated info on this special batch:

A+ Grade Honey Omelet – Fried using Sweet Honey and Mint, this dish offers the same comforting sweetness but has an even greater effect on feline Pokémon. It emits a scent they find irresistible.

Effect 1: After eating, the Pokémon will experience a short burst of intense happiness.

Effect 2: Long-term consumption speeds up energy absorption.

”Tsk, tsk…”

Lin Feng grinned. This mint was planted by a drunken Snivy a while back, and to make sure it matured before Mew left, he had even used high-grade Miracle Fertilizer. It grew fast.

He called out to the Pokémon still playing nearby, telling them to come eat. Then he looked up at the Pidgey and Pidgeotto in the sky.

”Come on down, you too.”

”Pi-gey…”

Up in the pine tree, the ”Pidgeotto” that had gone sightseeing with Lin Feng earlier wasn’t overly impressed with the trip. But it had noticed that a Dragonite with a familiar aura had returned to the ranch with him.

That gave it an idea.

It had to find that Pokémon with its same ”scent” and see what was going on.

So, Pidgeotto decided: after tonight’s meal, it would leave. Before that, it’d reveal its true identity to Lin Feng just to give him a shock.

It could already imagine his reaction.

”Pi-gey~”

The thought alone amused it.

But then… something in the air smelled better and better so good it made its head spin.

It twitched restlessly on the branch, unable to resist the scent coming from the eggs below.

Finally…

Just as it was about to give in, Lin Feng called them down.

And it, too, received a few eggs ones with that extra intoxicating smell.

Pidgeotto looked at its portion, then glanced at the others’. The only difference was a faint green tint so why did it smell this good?

”Meow Pi-gey?” (So good?)

It almost slipped back into its real voice. Picking up the egg in its beak, it refused to take a bite, savoring the moment instead. Its whole body trembled with excitement.

The sensation made it start wriggling in place.

Before long, among all the Pidgey and Pidgeotto eating quietly, it was the only one squirming and flapping awkwardly.

The others stared.

One Pidgey even tapped it with a wing. ”Pi-gey?” (What are you doing? That’s… weird.)

”Pi-gey?” (If you don’t like it, I’ll eat it for you.)

That jolted it back to its senses. It clutched its egg protectively. ”Pi-gey!” (No way, mine!)

It tore into the omelet with its talons, savoring every bite with a blissful expression.

But once the excitement faded, it began to feel conflicted again.

Tomorrow… should it still leave?

Maybe… the day after?

Meanwhile, Lin Feng watched from the corner of his eye, suppressing a smirk until the system notification sounded, and his expression froze.

System: Congratulations! You’ve raised Mew’s happiness from 10% to 70%. Reward: Ten bags of Premium Miracle Fertilizer, three pieces of Supreme Rare Candy, and one of Mew’s eyelashes (contains Mew’s genetic material, may be used in cooking?).
