I Have the Alchemy Emperor in My Head

Chapter 316: The Ancestor Worship Ceremony of the Chus

?

Although Jiang Pengfei did not have time to find trouble with him, another person came to find Chu Yunfan.

This person was none other than Chu Yuntian.

Chu Yunfan was talking to Tang Siyu and the others when he suddenly saw Chu Yuntian approach. His expression immediately became serious.

“I have something to discuss with you,” Chu Yuntian said indifferently.

Tang Siyu and the others glanced at Chu Yunfan. Then, they stood up and left one after another, leaving the two to talk in private.

“You want to defeat me?” Chu Yuntian asked.

“That’s a ridiculous question,” Chu Yunfan said indifferently. He was bothered to hide his thoughts.

In the past, Chu Yuntian had not cared about this in the slightest. In Chu Yuntian’s eyes, Chu Yunfan posed no threat, so he was not bothered.

“I’ll give you a chance,” Chu Yuntian said.

“Now?” Chu Yunfan said.

“Of course, not now.” Chu Yuntian said as he shook his head, “A month from now, at the ancestor worship ceremony, I’ll give you a chance to defeat me.”

“Ancestor worship ceremony? What ancestor worship ceremony?” Chu Yuntian asked.

Chu Yuntian was a little puzzled that Chu Yunfan did not know about the ancestor worship ceremony.

Seeing that Chu Yunfan was oblivious, Chu Yuntian said, “That’s true. You’ve never experienced this before. So of course, you don’t know. Our family is only one branch of the Chu family. Besides us, our family has a huge main family. You should know about this, right?”

“Of course.” Chu Yunfan nodded. He knew about this. His grandfather’s wish was to one day return to the main branch of the Chu family. He placed his hopes on Chu Yuntian, the eldest son of the eldest son of the eldest son. All the resources the family had was given to Chu Yuntian.

This was the root and beginning of Chu Yunfan’s resentment!

Though Chu Yunfan was young, and though no one had mentioned this matter to him, he knew a little bit about it. But he only knew that even though his family had some connection with the main family, that person was not him. In addition, his talent was really ordinary, and he had never interacted with them before.

“The main branch of our family is huge. Our influence is spread throughout society, and it’s no smaller than the Jiangs. People like us can’t even be considered branches,” Chu Yuntian said. “Grandfather was actually a branch of the main family back then, so he had always wished to return. That’s why he placed his hopes on me. As the eldest son of the eldest son, I must bring our family back to the main branch. When that time comes, not only my family, but even your family will gain benefits. This is what grandfather had thought. One person will attain enlightenment, and the chickens and dogs will ascend to Heaven.”

“And we’re the chickens and dogs that are to ascend to Heaven?” Chu Yunfan asked as his mouth twitched.

“Whether you’re willing to accept it or not is of little consequence. This is the truth. You’ve never shown any talent, so what’s the point of telling you these things? If I can lead our family back, then you will be listed in the Chu family’s genealogy. When the time comes, you can enjoy far better treatment than this,” Chu Yuntian said offhandedly.

Although Chu Yunfan knew that what Chu Yuntian said was the truth, it was cruel. He could understand it, but he could not accept it.

“I’m not saying this because I want to complain. I’m just telling you the essence of the matter. Second Uncle hasn’t said much all these years. Do you think he’s a coward? This is the only option for a small family like ours. Only by concentrating resources on one person can there be hope,” Chu Yuntian continued, “On the other hand, if you were the one who had displayed such talent, you would be the one to enjoy all the resources in our family. Don’t be so naive to think that the only reason I’m able to reach this stage is because of the power of the Meridians Cleansing Pill back then.”

Chu Yunfan remained silent. Back then, he did not know anything. He felt that it was exactly because of the Meridians Cleansing Pill that the gap between him and Chu Yuntian had become so wide. Of course, Chu Yunfan harbored resentment in his heart. Now, he had more understanding. He understood how naive and ridiculous it was to think that Chu Yuntian had gotten to where he was today just by relying on the Meridians Cleansing Pill.

If the Meridians Cleansing Pill alone could decide everything, then the current lower-class humans would truly have no hope. In fact, the children of a truly large family would be able to enjoy far more resources than Chu Yuntian. The Meridians Cleansing Pill was only the most basic treatment for the children of large families. It was nothing.

Jiang Lei had received at least ten times more resources during his growth than Chu Yuntian, but he was surpassed by Chu Yuntian in the end.

Chu Yuntian’s talent was indeed outstanding. Back then, their grandfather had spent a lot of money to obtain the Meridians Cleansing Pill not just because Chu Yuntian was the eldest grandson. This factor was only a part of it.

But later on, the situation became more and more biased. Slowly, it developed into the situation that Chu Yunfan was currently faced with.

“You’re right. In the past, I was too narrow-minded. However, it doesn’t mean that I’ll accept this,” Chu Yunfan said, “At most, I’ll just forget about it. However, what’s this ancestor worship ceremony?”

“The ceremony I speak of is the Chus’ ancestor worship ceremony. There are so many people in the Chu family. Of course, it’s impossible for everyone to attend. Only the most outstanding figures in the Chu family are qualified to attend,” Chu Yuntian said, “Originally, only I was invited to participate in the ceremony. But now that you should be able to enter Federation University and become the future elite and pillar of humanity, you have the right to be invited.”

“The chance to defeat you that you mentioned is at this ceremony?” Chu Yuntian asked.

“That’s right. At the yearly ancestor worship ceremony, in addition to the fixed rituals, there will be competitions between the descents of the Chu family who participate in the college entrance examinations that year. The purpose is to announce to the ancestors that the descendants of the Chu family are endless and talented,” Chu Yuntian said, “If we perform well enough at the ceremony, our family will definitely be re-absorbed into the main family. According to the past, there’s even precedent for the descendants of the branch families to be absorbed into the main family. Fulfilling Grandfather’s wish and having our family returned to the main family is a matter of absolute certainty.”

“Haven’t you always wanted to beat me? Then there’s nothing better than beating me at such a high-profile ceremony. If you can do it, that is,” said Chu Yuntian.
