Forty Millenniums of Cultivation

“Hey hey hey. Sister Summer, what time is it right now? Don’t get distracted!”

Seeing that Princess Summer was not in a good mood, Theresa’s forehead was immediately soaked in cold sweat. She hurried to say, “That was tens of thousands of years ago. Even if your ancestors became deserters, what does it have to do with you? Let’s think about how we can get out of the impasse right now!”

“No. It does. My ancestors were deserters, and so am I. I’ve been running away since the moment I saw my father’s miserable death in my uncle’s hands.

Princess Summer smiled miserably. “I saw you stab the knife into my father’s chest with my own eyes. My father’s blood spurted out and zigzagged toward the corner where I was hiding. He seemed to be extending his helpless hands in his place, trying to ask me to help him.

“But I just didn’t have the courage to go out of my shelter and fight against my uncle, the regicide, with the proud princess of the Eagle Kingdom.

“I, the timid me, could only run away without looking back and bury the memory deep in my heart.

“I hypnotized myself time and time again. I was the most useless person in the world. I didn’t have the wisdom of Sister Hera, the valiancy of Sister Natasha, and the decisiveness of you, Theresa. I was just a phoenix whose feathers had been plucked. It was impossible for me to seek revenge on my own. My only limit was to survive.

“It was as if through such hypnosis, the guilt in my heart could be completely relieved, and I would miss my father and hate my uncle.

“Even when I gave myself to Black Jack, wasn’t it another form of escape? I always told myself that Black Jack would avenge me one day. Serving him well was my only way of revenge. Even if I knew deep down in my heart that Black Jack did not care about my revenge at all, I was still unwilling to face the truth. I was still running away. As long as there was the slightest possibility of deceiving myself, I would keep running away.

“Hehe. Hehe. Hahahaha. So that’s how it is. Since our ancestors ten thousand years ago, we have been shameless deserters. The blood of deserters and traitors flows in my veins. No wonder I was so timid.

“Look, right now, I’m making excuses for my escape and blaming my ancestors for my problems. Isn’t it another form of escape?

“However, Captain Gao Zunlong and Captain Kelly were right. Running away is not going to solve the fundamental problem. Even if my ancestors and I give up all our glory and persistence and bury our heads in the sand like ostriches, there will be a day when we can’t run away anymore. That day is now.

“I regret that I didn’t rush out and fight with my uncle at that time. Yes, I was no match for my uncle, but at the very least, I could show the regicide the pride of the princess of the Eagle Kingdom and die together with my father. The annals of history will eventually record that such a nation of eagles once had such a princess! Even if the annals of history are obliterated in the destruction of the Emerald Continent, at the very least, my name will turn into a shining spark and fly into the endless sea of stars to see the afterglow of the peak of the ancient era!”

“Sister Summer, you—you must not think that way…”

The more Theresa listened, the more she felt that there was something wrong with Princess Summer’s mood. “It’s not a problem to make a strategic transition temporarily when the enemy is stronger than us. I used to know a senior who was particularly good at circling a planet 360 degrees to stab the enemy in the back. But that did not stop him from becoming a great hero admired by thousands of people! If you had rushed out recklessly when your uncle was planning to seize the throne, you would’ve been killed a long time ago. I believe that your father did not want to see you die miserably in front of him. He would rather trade his life for yours so that you could live a good life!”

“What’s the difference between then and now?

Princess Summer smiled miserably. “Right. There is a difference. I spent a few more years being treated as a puppet, which was hilarious and humiliating!

“Live a good life. Do you think the days of being played by Black Jack and being a puppet and… a battery are the days of living a good life? Think about it carefully. What is the significance of the life that I and all the ancestors of the past ten thousand years have been living in this illusionary dream?

Princess Summer collapsed to the ground helplessly. She covered her face with her long hair and slender hands and started crying.

Theresa was having a headache.

Damn it. She hated women crying the most, especially when they were venting their emotions in this place without caring about the occasion. It was not that she did not want you to feel sorry for your family background, but let’s be clear about our priorities, shall we? If she continued crying like this, she would be upset and want to cry!

“Boohoo…”

Theresa suddenly felt that her eyes were swollen, as if she had been manipulated by a mysterious force. She hugged Princess Summer uncontrollably and cried with her.

Then, he came back to himself and slapped himself hard.

“Bastard, control your endocrine. Stop crying here. Do you really think you are a magical girl? You are the ambitious man who swore to be the king of cannons in the sea of stars!”

Theresa roared in her heart.

Forget it. He could not count on Princess Summer. He had to count on himself.

“Jade, how many resources can we mobilize right now? If I activate the ‘Witch Gene’, I will need some super weapons so that I can go out and fight Black Jack, won’t I?” asked Theresa.

“Of course, this is the list of all the weapons and resources that we can mobilize right now.”

Theresa was solemn and focused, not letting go of any usable weapons.

He had no other options except to fight Black Jack, not just for the Emerald Continent and the Blood Demon Sector, not just for the girls in front of him and outside, but also for the glory of the Pangu Universe!

Suddenly, Theresa’s eyes shone.

“Escape capsule? You are really hiding an escape capsule?”

She was so excited that her voice changed. She immediately abandoned the idea of fighting Black Jack and defending the glory of the Pangu Universe.

“There is an emergency escape capsule, but I’m afraid it will not be of much help to solve our problem.”

Jade explained, “Due to the lack of energy, the exploration of the nearby space zones has not been carried out yet. The escape capsule is like a sampan in the middle of an ocean for us. Even if we get out on it, how far can we run? Where can we run to?

“According to the resources that the escape capsule can carry, it can only support us to perform hundreds of space jumps and maintain our hibernation state for dozens of years. In the vast sea of stars, such a short distance is not even half a step. As a result, the resources will run out, and the two of you will become dry bones in the escape capsule. I will be forced to close the escape capsule, too. The escape capsule will become our grave and drift in the dark vacuum forever.

“Such an outcome is no better than falling into Black Jack’s hands, if not worse. At the very least, Black Jack might spare our lives. We can surrender for now and deal with him later. If Black Jack wants to take control of Jade, he won’t be able to destroy me immediately. I will try to protect you, and the only outcome for the Lost Star Sea is death when it runs out of energy.

“Since the odds of your escape were close to zero, I didn’t tell you about the escape capsule earlier in case you had any unrealistic fantasies.

“No, you’re wrong. You should’ve told me earlier.”

Confidence beamed out of Theresa’s eyes. “Without star maps and coordinates, hundreds of space jumps cannot solve any problem. But what if very precise star maps and coordinates are stored in this place?

She extended her slender fingers and lightly tapped her forehead.
