Forty Millenniums of Cultivation

The air froze again.

The room was filled with an awkward and weird atmosphere.

Zhang Daniu’s gaze was as if he was looking at a mental patient. The paper cutter in his hand continued waving as he slowly moved towards the door.

“It’s true. You’ve written so many bizarre and unbelievable plots in your novels. I thought that your mind should be very open. Why can’t you accept that there are some bugs in your real life?”

Li Yao clenched his fists so hard that tears were about to fall. “Give me one minute. Just one minute. I can prove it!”

Looking at Li Yao’s cracking fists, Zhang Daniu did not dare to move. He asked cautiously, “How are you going to prove it? Try rubbing a fireball with your superpowers.”

“It’s too difficult to make a fireball. I haven’t awakened it yet.

Li Yao looked around and picked up a hardcover encyclopedia that had barely been opened and was emitting the fragrance of ink. “My current strength has already surpassed the limits of the human body. The day before yesterday, in the dormitory, I forcefully tore open a dumbbell wrapped in metal rubber. Although you don’t have a dumbbell here, this 1,000-page encyclopedia is made of very solid materials. It’s as thick as half a palm. If I can forcefully tear it from the middle, I will be able to tear it into two halves. This should be enough to prove that I am not lying, right?”

Zhang Daniu blinked his eyes and stared at the encyclopedia for a long time. He said hesitatingly, “You mean to tear it in the direction of the spine instead of tearing it into two halves along the spine?”

“Of course!”

Li Yao held the encyclopedia in his palm. His fingers were like ten burning iron chopsticks that were almost embedded into the dictionary. “If there are no questions, shall I begin?”

“You—you may begin.”

Zhang Daniu had no choice but to agree. However, his eyes were not on Li Yao, but on the door and the window.

“AHHHHHHH!”

Updates by

Li Yao screamed four times in a row. He clenched his fists so hard that his fingers turned white. The muscles all over his body bulged, and the explosive force almost tore his T-shirt apart. He didn’t die until ten seconds later.

He looked at Zhang Daniu.

Zhang Daniu looked at him.

The two of them looked at the encyclopedia in his hand—it was still intact. Even the cover of the book was intact.

“I can explain that to you.”

Li Yao said somewhat embarrassedly, “My superpower has just awakened and is still in a very unstable stage. I need to meet two conditions in order to maximize my potential. The first is sufficient high-calorie food. Right now, my appetite is comparable to that of an entire basketball team. If I don’t eat enough, I simply won’t be able to exert my strength. The second is to read your novels. Really, it’s ridiculous to say it out loud. Every time I read your novels, I would feel my blood vessels expand and my blood boil. An inexplicable impulse would surge and surge in my body. I don’t know how to describe this impulse. In short, as I read, I was suddenly filled with strength!”

“Don’t doubt me. Don’t look at me like I’m a mental patient or a maniac. I’m speaking the truth. I—I still have evidence. Just seven days ago, I was just an ordinary college student with a thin and weak body. But now, in just one short week, just because I’ve read your novels, my muscles have continuously expanded, and my bones have also expanded by quite a bit. My entire body has undergone a complete transformation. I have undergone a heaven-shaking and earth-shaking transformation. I have turned into a stocky and strong man.

“Take a look if you don’t believe me. My muscles are strong, my skin is bronze, and my body is as smooth as a leopard’s. Look, Master Niu!”

“…”

Faced with Li Yao, who was making beautiful poses, Zhang Daniu took a deep breath and screamed, “Help! Help! Help!”

“Don’t shout!”

Li Yao panicked all of a sudden. He was even more depressed as he thought, “Why don’t you believe me?” He lunged forward, wanting to cover Zhang Daniu’s mouth, but the author suddenly ducked past him and stumbled to the door. Li Yao was both anxious and scared. He punched the wall hard. “I’m telling the truth!”

“Bang! Huala!”

The punch was as loud as thunder. His fist had punched a hole in the wall!

“Well…”

Staring at his own fist, Li Yao felt no pain at all.

“What?”

Zhang Daniu turned around and looked at the hole on the wall in disbelief.

Although Li Yao did not smash the load-bearing wall but the partition wall inside the room, the strength of his punch was enough to shock everyone for a long time.

Zhang Daniu swallowed hard. He hesitated for a long time and moved closer, one step after another. He looked at Li Yao’s fist and then at the hole on the wall. He mumbled, “The quality of the building is a problem right now. Did he punch through the wall just like that?”

“As I said, this is the strange strength that I just awakened after reading your novel over the past week.”

Li Yao said helplessly, “If you still don’t want to believe it, you can check your own laptop and see how many words you wrote last night. How many words do you think an author can write in a night under normal circumstances? Ten thousand, twenty thousand, thirty thousand at most. But what about you?”

Zhang Daniu tilted his head and thought for a while. He ran over to look for his own computer and looked at the latest paragraph for a long time. Then, he used the statistical software to calculate the number of words that he had just entered last night. After that, he let out an incomprehensible mutter from the depths of his throat. He sat down on the pile of books and held the computer in a daze.

“You noticed that something was wrong, too, didn’t you? Maybe you wrote something in the past, but it can’t be as crazy as writing thirty to fifty thousand words a night, can it?”

Li Yao said very sincerely, “You know very well that you were really drunk last night. You couldn’t even walk stably. You only vomited three times on the way back. How could you have regained your consciousness in just one to two hours and write so many new chapters? Even if it was just a running account, it was a running account with regulations and logic. Is it possible for someone who is almost intoxicated?”

Looking at his red and swollen fingers, Zhang Daniu narrowed his eyes and recalled everything that had happened last night. A minute later, he gave up and shook his head hard, sighing in confusion.

“If you insist that this is your unique writing method and you can only think about it in your dreams, then I have nothing to say.”

Li Yao said, “Otherwise, can’t we calm down and talk rationally?”

“…Alright.”

Holding the computer, Zhang Daniu stared at the hole that Li Yao had made and said, “What do you want to talk about? I really don’t know anything, except that I wrote a damn novel!”

“It’s hard for me to explain everything. The truth is still hidden in the fog. Therefore, we might as well tell you what we know and what we know. Maybe we can piece together the whole story, or at least one step closer to the answer.

Li Yao didn’t wait for Zhang Daniu’s rejection and told him everything.

He started from the strange dream that had been haunting him—the T-rex that had been smeared with lipstick. He talked about the accident of the Heavenly Horse Lake International Anime Festival and the accident that had happened to the creator of the famous fantasy world. Then, he watched under the recommendation of his fellow students. The strange dream became more and more vivid and real, and his body underwent various mutations.

Then, there was the shooting at T3, the ‘Apocalyptic Organization’, last night’s incident, the series of answers and speculations on the Q&A website of ‘Dream Traveler’, as well as the latest news about the super earthquake in the Western Pacific Ocean. Li Yao had just learned that Class 9.2 of the Richter Scale was already a terrifying natural disaster. It was the second strongest earthquake ever recorded by mankind. If the epicenter of the earthquake was close to land, it was entirely possible to destroy an entire city.

If such an earthquake was just a sign of a larger earthquake, there was no telling what kind of terrible destruction the Western Pacific would suffer when the real earthquake arrived.

Zhang Daniu seemed to be listening carefully. He browsed through the webpage that Li Yao opened and the answers of ‘Dream Traveler’ one by one. It took him half an hour before he understood everything. Then, he crossed his arms and pondered for five minutes before he asked, “Then, what’s your conclusion?”

“I don’t have a conclusion, but I do have a guess. A very crazy and absurd feeling. Over the past few days, the feeling has been lingering in my head, but I couldn’t figure it out at all. It was not until I read ‘Dream Traveler’s’ answer and the epiphany just now that I grasped the most crucial clue.

Li Yao stared at Zhang Daniu and said, one word after another, “I feel that I am Li Yao—not just this ‘Earth’s Li Yao’, but also the ‘Cultivator Li Yao’ that you wrote. I transmigrated to Earth from the magnificent, mysterious universe of ‘Forty Thousand Years of Cultivators’!”

“…” Zhang Daniu.

“…” Li Yao.

“…” Zhang Daniu.

“Master Niu, if you have anything to say, just say it. If you have any opinions or suggestions about my theories, just give them to me. My ideas are still immature, immature, and in desperate need of your enlightenment.”

“I wouldn’t dare to give you pointers, but if you really want me to, then I will.”

Zhang Daniu pondered for a long time and said earnestly, “Well, Student Li Yao, it’s good that your imagination is abundant and you like reading. Yes, it’s good. If you have nothing to do, you can read a novel for entertainment. It’s not a problem at all!”

“However, although we are reading, we must be clear in our hearts that the novels are all false and that the authors are making up stories. I’m making up stories to feed my family, and you’re reading novels for fun. Isn’t that great?”

“Haha, I’m done laughing. We still have to study hard. We still have to work hard when we need to work hard. Really. Although there is Yan Ruyu and the House of Gold in the book, this book is not the other book. You understand what I mean, right?

“In short, it can be seen from the fact that you can train your body to be so well-built that you are a young man who is very determined and has self-control. As long as you can withdraw from the fantasy world and focus your willpower and self-control on your studies and work, I believe that you will definitely have a bright future. In short, is a lie. I made it up to make a living, and things like the are even more nonsense. You can’t have transmigrated from the , do you understand?”
