Chapter 957: Chapter 953: Speaking Out Boldly for Justice

”Uncle is advanced in years; it’s perfectly normal if he can’t hear clearly!” replied Sugai Yasuaki mercilessly.

”Sugai Yasuaki, what do you mean by that?!” The young man who spoke earlier with a sarcastic tone suddenly stood up, slamming the table in anger, and said, ”My father is your uncle, and speaking to him like this is a blatant disregard for seniority!”

At that moment, Xiao Tian accurately sensed a wave of pressure coming from the surroundings, aimed directly at Sugai Yasuaki. Being a temporary bodyguard, he naturally couldn’t just sit idly by!

Slowly gathering his True Qi to form an invisible shield, Xiao Tian then resumed his stance as a cold observer. Meanwhile, those pressuring Sugai Yasuaki directed their gazes toward him in unison.

Moments later, Sugai Yasuaki took a sip of his tea and replied, ”According to your logic, as your cousin, when you slam the table in front of me, do you consider my presence?”

Seeing Sugai Yasuaki’s nonchalant demeanor, the young man shot Xiao Tian an angry glance, then snorted coldly and said, ”Who is the person behind my cousin? I’ve never seen him before.”

Sugai Yasuaki pondered and couldn’t bring himself to say the word ’bodyguard’, so he had to answer, ”A new friend I’ve recently made.”

”I see!” The young man looked at Xiao Tian and then said, ”Since you’re a friend of my cousin, that makes you a friend of mine. If there’s time, we should get to know each other better.”

Xiao Tian remained silent, but internally he found it peculiar. Logically, at such a banquet, there should be an equal number of people from both the Mizuno Clan and the Japanese royal family, so how could there be such a disparity?

Moreover, this was one thing, but the crucial point was that Sugai Yasuaki didn’t seem to hold much prestige within the Mizuno Clan, to the extent of being openly targeted.

Additionally, the most important aspect was that, at this moment, Sugai Yasuaki’s cunning seemed completely absent. He was no longer adept at navigating situations but instead prickly like a porcupine, aggressive and confrontational!

But this wasn’t something he should worry about, he thought; it’s better to revisit it after the banquet concludes.

At that moment, Ozawa Miwa slowly raised her head and said, ”Sorry, I’m not feeling well.”

With that, she stood up and headed towards the door of the room, leaving behind a woman who appeared anxious but couldn’t stop her, trying hard to smooth things over.

However, Sugai Kifumi once again challenged, ”We all came here for Her Highness the Princess, but now she leaves us like this. Is it because you have no manners, or do you simply not regard our Mizuno Clan?”

The woman rushed to Ozawa Miwa’s side to explain, ”Please don’t misunderstand, Sugai Kifumi. Her Highness truly isn’t feeling well.”

While saying this, she couldn’t help but curse internally. From the beginning, they’d come here to witness infighting, and now they were nitpicking and twisting things around.

But she could only voice these thoughts internally, understanding the royal family’s concern with this engagement, leaving no room for impulsiveness.

”Since that’s the case, let me make myself clear: Her Highness the Princess is about to become part of our Mizuno Clan, so I believe we have the right to voice our objections to her behavior.”

Sugai Kifumi declared righteously, ”Otherwise, the one being judged by outsiders wouldn’t be the royal family, but our Mizuno Clan.”

Xiao Tian looked at Ozawa Miwa, surprised to see that the little princess still wore an indifferent expression, seemingly unaffected by Sugai Kifumi’s harsh words.

This scenario evoked a sympathy within Xiao Tian, as he wondered how much Ozawa Miwa had endured over these days.

Thinking this, Xiao Tian stepped forward and asked Sugai Yasuaki, ”This gentleman must be the head of the Mizuno Clan?”

Sugai Yasuaki was momentarily stunned by an ominous feeling but truthfully replied, ”He is my father’s brother, like my father, an elder.”

”So if he isn’t the head, does your Mizuno Clan allow elders to represent the entire organization?” Xiao Tian asked, puzzled.

”Well, unless there’s special authorization, no one other than the actual head can represent the entire organization,” Sugai Yasuaki replied.

He could roughly guess what Xiao Tian intended to do. However, having been on poor terms with Sugai Kifumi, Sugai Yasuaki had enough self-awareness to know he probably couldn’t stop Xiao Tian, so he chose to cooperate.

After hearing Sugai Yasuaki’s answer, Xiao Tian looked even more puzzled and said, ”If you can’t represent the Mizuno Clan, how does this Sugai Kifumi keep bringing it up?”

”Kansuke, is your person lacking discipline?” Sugai Kifumi ignored Xiao Tian’s taunts and questioned Sugai Yasuaki instead.

Sugai Yasuaki sighed internally; now that the old man had directed his attack towards him, it seemed he couldn’t remain uninvolved.

After some thought, Sugai Yasuaki resolutely said, ”This gentleman is my friend, not my subordinate, so his words and actions don’t represent my stance.”

Xiao Tian smirked internally. It seemed Sugai Yasuaki hadn’t completely lost his mind, as he still knew to distance himself at this point.

But that was fine. He never planned for Sugai Yasuaki to assist him anyway.

With that in mind, Xiao Tian looked at Sugai Kifumi and mocked, ”Seeing you jumping about like this, I suspect you have ulterior motives, intentionally stirring tensions between the royal family and the Mizuno Clan.”

”Nonsense!”

Sugai Kifumi snapped loudly, ”This is a matter between our Mizuno Clan and the royal family. As an outsider, what rights do you have to interfere?”

Xiao Tian chuckled, ”It’s true I’m an outsider. But are you directly involved? Your enthusiasm makes it seem the princess is marrying you.”

”Moreover, from the start, you’ve been intentionally causing trouble, seemingly eager to ruin this engagement. What’s your hidden agenda?!”

This series of inquiries left everyone speechless and wide-eyed, unsure of what to do.

Perhaps if Xiao Tian belonged to either the Mizuno Clan or the royal family, it would be understandable, but he belonged to neither. Thus, his words carried an enigmatic quality.

At this moment, others wondered about Xiao Tian’s intent and purpose with these statements.

However, just as Sugai Kifumi was about to react, Sugai Yasuaki’s father, the middle-aged man who had remained mostly silent after toasting, aptly intervened to halt the argument.

”Enough!”

The sudden outburst from the middle-aged man jolted everyone to attention as he continued, ”Since Her Highness the Princess isn’t feeling well, she should first return to rest. Kansuke, escort her.”
