Chapter 2764: Chapter 2767: Great Emperor Light Screen

As he followed Mu Youlan out of the city, Jiang Chen learned what this place was, and a solemn respect rose in his heart!

This was an extension space of the Extraterritorial Battlefield, slowly expanded within a spatial rift.

This stretch of space was originally a fragment of the void surface shattered by the grand formation in those years, but back then it lay within the spatial rift and was not discovered.

Later, when the Extraterritorial Battlefield opened, the Extraterritorial Alien Race launched a battle Above Saint outside the Extraterritorial Battlefield. In that battle, this space was discovered by the Extraterritorial Alien Race, and thus they began to open it up.

The Necro Spirits here were all formed from the elite personnel of the Extraterritorial Alien Race who had died on the Extraterritorial Battlefield. The Extraterritorial Alien Race opened up a spatial node between this place and the Extraterritorial Battlefield, so that after their elites died, they could transform into Necro Spirits here and continue fighting.

The Extraterritorial Alien Race was different from the people of the Void Nether Domain. All Void Nether people could use Death Qi to transform into Necro Spirits, whereas only elite members of the Extraterritorial Alien Race could succeed. Therefore, all the Necro Spirits of the Extraterritorial Alien Race here were elite existences.

Fifty thousand years ago, in yet another battle Above Saint, several controllers of the Void Nether Domain discovered this place. In shock and fury, they dispatched the most elite legions of the Five Continents to garrison here and annihilate the Necro Spirits of the Extraterritorial Alien Race.

If they could not annihilate or block them, once the Necro Spirits here completely transformed this stretch of space into a Necro Spirit Domain, then every member of the Extraterritorial Alien Race might gain the chance to become a Necro Spirit.

By then, the Void Nether Domain would be facing twice the number of enemies, and moreover, a great host of Necro Spirit foes that felt no pain.

If that were to happen, the Void Nether Domain would truly be in peril.

And these five most elite legions of the Five Continents had been stationed here for a full fifty thousand years.

For fifty thousand years, these people had been almost constantly at war. Each of the five great legions guarded a Teleportation Array, constructed when they first arrived. It was also their only hope; they prayed that one day they could return to the Void Nether Domain through this Teleportation Array.

The five great legions had built cities here, borne children, and countless generations fought side by side on the battlefield.

It seemed their motivation for living was simply to slaughter all the Necro Spirits here.

However, if the Extraterritorial Battlefield did not collapse, or rather did not fuse into one, they could not leave, because only when the Extraterritorial Battlefield merged into a whole would this space connect to it.

At that time, they would no longer need to stand guard here alone, and these five Teleportation Arrays could be completely abandoned.

The reason they were not abandoned now was to give the people of the five great legions hope, so that they would not mentally collapse!

After fifty thousand years of continuous warfare, far too many people no longer knew what the Void Nether Domain was like. In this space, of the first batch of people from the five great legions who had come here, almost none remained. The vast majority had been born here; from the moment they were born, they were destined to garrison, to fight.

Throughout the entire space, only the current commanders-in-chief of the five great legions could travel back and forth between here and the Void Nether Domain, because only a Supreme could pierce this space. In those days, the five great legions had no Supremes; the five commanders were assigned here later.

As for the personnel left to garrison in the five great legions, over all these years, quite a number of existences Above Saint had appeared, but never had anyone reached the transcendent realm of Supreme.

When the five commanders arrived, they once launched a battle akin to Destruction Power, hoping to rely on the mighty strength of the five Supremes to completely wipe out the Necro Spirit army of the Extraterritorial Alien Race.

However, the Extraterritorial Alien Race noticed in time and, at all costs, launched Supreme assaults against Saints outside the Extraterritorial Battlefield, in order to contain the situation here.

Thus, after both sides paid a certain price, they reached a consensus that even in this space, combatants must strictly partition battle zones according to cultivation realm. Only then did the layers of standoffs in this space come to be.

”Commander Mu, who set up that light curtain in the Central Region?”

Jiang Chen looked at Mu Youlan in puzzlement.

Mu Youlan glanced ahead; from where they stood, they could see the sky-reaching light curtain in the distance.

”That light curtain was jointly laid down by the rulers of the Five Continents, the five Great Emperors!”

Reverence appeared in Mu Youlan’s eyes:

”The Extraterritorial Alien Race also has existences at the Great Emperor level. All along, the five Great Emperors have had Avatars patrolling the void of the Extraterritorial Battlefield, while here, it was the five Great Emperors’ true bodies that stealthily descended to set it up.

That time could truly be called a tremendous gamble. As soon as their presence was discovered, hundreds of Supremes of the Extraterritorial Alien Race surrounded them, seeking to assassinate the Great Emperors.

If even one of the five Great Emperors had fallen, my Void Nether Domain would have found it very difficult to hold the Extraterritorial Battlefield. That time, with the help of many powerhouses, the five Great Emperors returned to the Void Nether Domain.

From then on, the true bodies of the five Great Emperors vanished. No one knows where they are, and they have never come here again.”

Jiang Chen’s heart gave a sudden thump, and a trace of horror flashed in his eyes.

Although Mu Youlan spoke simply, he could imagine how terrifying it had been back then.

The five Great Emperors were the pillars of the Void Nether Domain, the strongest existences in the entire Void Nether Domain since Lord Ancestral Dragon’s departure. If even one of them fell, it would directly cause a huge gap at the peak of the Void Nether Domain’s power; in that case, the Void Nether Domain would absolutely be finished!

Fortunately, back then Lord Ancestral Dragon and many other powerhouses had sealed the spatial rifts of the Void Nether Domain and garrisoned within some of the rifts.

In this way, not only was the possibility of the Extraterritorial Alien Race descending upon the Void Nether Domain through the spatial rifts completely cut off, but it also added an extra layer of insurance for the Void Nether Domain, letting the Extraterritorial Alien Race understand that the Void Nether Domain was not without powerhouses—it was just that they could not leave the Void Nether Domain.

The Extraterritorial Alien Race had indeed attempted to assault the Void Nether Domain by force, but they were unable to break through the defensive layer of those garrisoned powerhouses and had no choice but to first seize victory on the Extraterritorial Battlefield. As for what benefits victory on the Extraterritorial Battlefield would bring them, likely very few people knew.

After understanding the circumstances of this space, Jiang Chen swept his gaze left and right, his expression complicated.

By this time they had already left the city and arrived outside the city gates.

Here, there were no roads, no mountain peaks or forests. Beyond the gate stretched an endless plain. Even separated by a hundred li, Jiang Chen could still see the blood-colored torrent beneath the colorful light curtain up ahead.

Closer by lay stretches of encampments. Those living within the city were all the families of the soldiers, as well as some powerhouses Above Saint who were recuperating or teaching children; those belonging to the legions generally lived outside the city.

Outside the city lay a vast encampment spanning dozens of li, filled entirely with tents, an expanse of dark green as far as the eye could see.

Among these tents, blood-colored figures moved back and forth.

”Are all the people of the five great legions here?”

Jiang Chen asked Mu Youlan softly.

”No, this is only our Blood Fiend Army!”

Mu Youlan spoke in a low voice: ”The encampments of the five great legions are built encircling the city. All five Great Teleportation Arrays are in the city center, but the other four arrays have all been sealed, leaving only one, so that everyone can see hope.”
