Venerated Venomous Consort

No, it did not make sense. She loved her daughter; she would have returned if she was not dead. At least, she should come back to visit her daughter or even bring her away from the Gu family.

The real Gu Xijiu used to stay alone in the broken courtyard, it was very easy to bring her away.

There must be a hidden reason behind the story.

She pondered as she knocked on the bed frame lightly.

...

The moon was shining brightly onto the quiet courtyard on a breezy night.

Gu Xietian came to Luo Xinglan’s courtyard again. Tonight, he had insomnia too.

He paid a visit to Leng Xiangyu earlier; she had become so much thinner only after three days.

Leng Xiangyu was agitated when she saw Gu Xietian. She kept pulling his sleeve and begged him to stay. She did not want to stay there alone, lest Luo Xinglan comes back for revenge. She was crying pitifully, and that made Gu Xietian feel annoyed. He then told the servant to get a doctor to prescribe some medicine for her.

Gu Xietian did not stay with any of his mistresses - only in that courtyard.

Perhaps, that was the only place he could find the memories between him and Luo Xinglan.

”Dear, is it you? Why don’t you come to see me? I’ve been waiting for you for so many years and I was hoping just to see you once. It’s fine even if I could only see you in my dreams. But you didn’t even come, not even once…”

He sighed and was anxious. He pondered before leaving the house...

As Gu Xijiu was just about to fall asleep, the servant outside reported, ”Miss, the General is here to see you…”

Initially, Gu Xijiu did not want to see him. However, she decided to entertain him for a while.

Gu Xietian had drank a few cups of tea since he entered the house. Gu Xijiu suspected that he was too thirsty earlier, so that could be the reason he paid a visit. Gu Xietian suddenly spoke, ”Xijiu, don’t you even want to know what happened between your mom and I?”

Gu Xijiu remained silent.

Now she knew the General did not drop by for the tea but instead, was seeking for a listener...

Initially, Gu Xijiu was not really keen to lend him an ear. However, she could not deny that she was actually curious about their story. She poured a cup of tea and put it into his hand, ”Yes, I do. Go ahead.”

Gu Xietian had finally found a listener and he just carried on retelling his entire history.

Gu Xietian grew up in a poor family. He liked to play with weapons and eventually, he became a gangster. One day, he was involved in a fight and was almost killed. Luckily, a female knight had saved him and that was Gu Xijiu’s mother, Luo Xinglan.

Luo Xinglan came from a family with good Kung Fu. She was naive and hot-tempered; Gu Xietian fell in love with her at first sight and she finally accepted his proposal. Luo Xinglan even ran away from home to marry him and that was the fairytale since then.

Luo Xinglan had disclosed all her family’s secret methods of martial arts to Gu Xietian. Indeed, he was a talented one and his martial arts were even much better than hers.

He was really good at it and was willing to learn. Coupled with the effort Luo Xinglan put in by building their network, Gu Xietian became a military general from a gangster in ten years...
