Possessive & Addicted: The CEO Could Never Let Her Go

Chapter 444: Chapter 444: The Fisherman Reaps the Rewards

Live TV station.

Pei Wei sat in front of the camera, bowed three times, then sat down, holding a prepared script, and offered a solemn apology.

He also promised that if there were any issues with cars that had used their oil, they would be compensated and repaired one by one.

Finally, he apologized again with deep remorse and vowed that they would never venture into the oil industry again after learning from this mistake.

He did not face any criminal penalties, while two senior executives responsible for managing oil were scapegoated.

But Pei Wei’s attempt to break into the oil industry was short-lived and ended prematurely.

Pei Wei resented Gu Xiaozhan deeply, as well as holding a grudge against Feng Ruixiang.

Things were not much better for Feng Ruixiang. Once the company was investigated, many tax evasion and approval-deficient projects were uncovered.

Adding to this was the funding rupture in his new investment projects, leaving him unable to manage funds. The taxes demanded by the state were not a small sum, with back taxes and fines amounting to billions.

Feng Ruixiang struggled to transfer his new projects and had to sell the oil project at a low price, which Gu Xiaozhan acquired.

As soon as the financial news broke, the oil industry underwent asset restructuring, with Gu Corporation as the largest shareholder reopening the market.

The people of Country A cheered because the Gu Family was synonymous with quality, and Gu Xiaozhan was revered as a god in their hearts.

Bar.

Pei Wei was somewhat drunk, holding a young and beautiful woman, indulging more in his decadent lifestyle after recent business setbacks.

”Ye Peng, have you noticed? I fought with that old bastard Feng Ruixiang, and both of us lost, while someone else won.” Pei Wei held his glass.

Qin Ye Peng naturally understood, ”Bro, this is like the fable of the sandpiper and clam fighting, and the fisherman reaping the benefits. You and old man Feng fought to mutual ruin, and Gu Xiaozhan took advantage of it.”

”No...” Pei Wei suddenly sat up, sobered up a bit, took out some money, stuffed it into the woman’s low-cut neckline, signaling for them to leave.

Once there were only the two of them in the private room, Pei Wei’s gaze turned fierce. ”Ye Peng, the last time you got the information that Feng Ruixiang was evading taxes, where did it come from?”

”From the intelligence information office,” Qin Ye Peng replied. ”Bro, are you suspecting someone deliberately leaked the information to us?”

”Exactly!” Pei Wei nodded, ”If it’s someone, it must be Gu Xiaozhan.”

Qin Ye Peng seemed incredulous, ”Is he really that capable?”

”He’s even more capable than you imagine!” Pei Wei clenched his fist. ”So I must eliminate him! He purposely leaked the information to you, knowing we’re close, and you would share it with me. We would certainly report Feng Ruixiang, he’d get caught, and his oil enterprise would plummet.”

”Feng Ruixiang is the son-in-law of the main Gu Family, why would Gu Xiaozhan do such a thing?” Qin Ye Peng was puzzled.

Pei Wei sneered, ”It’s all for personal gain; everyone acts for profit. Gu Xiaozhan had long eyed this big cake and even told my father he wouldn’t get involved! What’s more, he has another reason—his woman...”

”You mean Mu Anhan?” Qin Ye Peng frowned. ”Hasn’t Zhou Jingyi already been sent to prison? Why continue targeting the Feng Family?”
