My Youth Began With Him

After three seconds of silence, Rick nodded. “I do.”

“Then you should know what to do. You may seem indifferent, but you’re not heartless. I know you know what to do, and as your friend, I really don’t want you to let that girl through your fingers. After all, she loves you very much. Remember this, not all passionate emotions can be reciprocated, and not all affections can be requited…”

After saying all this, Huo Mian turned around to leave without saying goodbye.

Rick, on the other hand, looked gratefully as she walked away, as if he suddenly realized something. He muttered to himself. “Huo Mian, thank you…”

When she walked back into the mansion, the others were all staring at her with a smile.

This weirded her out. “What are you guys smiling about? What’s going on?”

“First, tell us how you did as a mediator. Did you convince Rick?” Tang Chuan smiled mysteriously.

“Oh… I don’t know, actually. Rick’s a little slow when it comes to relationships, he might be able to understand what I’m trying to say, but I have no idea what he’ll end up doing…”

“Damn, I thought you were going to automatically succeed.”

“I’m not omnipotent like God, okay?” Huo Mian retorted, rolling her eyes at Tang Chuan.

“How’s your impending marriage going, Young Master Tang?” Wei Liao laughed.

“Forget about it, I’m never going to marry that woman…”

“Haha, when can we expect a wedding invitation?” Wei Liao joked.

“In your wildest dreams…”

“Hey, that’s not too far away from now. I’ll see you tonight then!”

“See you my ass!”

The one-month birthday party wasn’t too grand – it was exactly what Huo Mian wanted. The twins finished their milk and fell into deep sleep, giving Huo Mian the chance to say goodbye to her friends.

After walking back into the mansion, Su Yu said gently, “You must be exhausted today.”

“I’m fine.” Huo Mian smiled.

“You should get some rest. Once they wake up, you’ll be super busy again. Pudding’s always looking for you, and cries holy hell whenever you’re not around.”

“Mhm, Pudding’s smarter, she’s one month old but already knows who’s her mommy. Bean is easier to take care of, she only eats and sleeps.” Huo Mian’s expression filled with content as she talked about her twin daughters.

“Get some rest them, I’m going to head over to the company.”

“Okay.” Huo Mian nodded.

After a few steps towards the door, Su Yu suddenly thought of something. He turned around and said, “Don’t worry, I already got my people to follow Huo Siqian in case he puts some evil plan into the works. As soon as he detects something, we’ll know as well. If Qin Chu’s really alive and he finds out, so will we. Don’t worry, I’m going to help you find him.”

Su Yu cared about Huo Mian too much, so he constantly paid attention to her expressions. Today, she seemed happy but was still a little out of it.

Su Yu felt like Huo Siqian’s words lit up a hint of hope within Huo Mian, so he immediately got his people to investigate.

“Su Yu… you really don’t have to do this, you’ve done enough for me. I’ll never be able to pay you back in this life.”

“I don’t need you to.”

“I know, but I still feel bad. I owe you too much… I can’t shoulder that weight.”

“Yes you can, because you’re Huo Mian,” Su Yu said. Then, he turned around and left the mansion, leaving Huo Mian alone and worried.

– Su Estate –

After walking upstairs, Grandpa Su called Huo Mian into his study. She smiled. “Grandpa Su, did you want to play chess with me?”

Grandpa Su’s hands were behind his back as he stared at Huo Mian in all seriousness. Then, he asked, word for word, “Mian, if I win, can you marry Yu?”

Upon hearing this, Huo Mian froze…
