My Youth Began With Him

“I drew this, please don’t laugh at me.” Song Yishi smiled sincerely.

Mayor Song mentioned to Qin Chu that Song Yishi had been learning art all these years in Italy and was obsessed.

He carefully unrolled the scroll and was truly shocked by what he saw…

Unlike other people who came back from abroad, Song Yishi’s painting wasn’t of a western style that imitated Van Gogh and other famous artists.

It was a pure Chinese-style black and white ink wash painting…

There were black branches, fallen leaves, heaving hills, tall mountains, and a bright moon on the painting.

The lake sparkled, and a ship sailed alone. There was also a man toasting to the moon.

It was very artistic…

“You… painted this?” Qin Chu was slightly surprised.

“Yeah, I love paintings with the Chinese-style element, and I’ve been obsessed with it these past few years. My dad said that I’m going crazy.”

“You’re very accomplished in ink wash painting, and it doesn’t suit your age. If I didn’t know any better, I would’ve thought that it was the masterpiece of an ink master.”

“Can I take that as a compliment?” Song Yishi smiled sweetly.

“I was complimenting you.”

“I’m glad you like it.”

“Thank you for the present and allow me to thank you on behalf of my wife as well.” Qin Chu always had Huo Mian on his mind.

Song Yishi bit down on her lips and fell silent…

“How long are you planning to stay here?” Qin Chu asked casually.

“I’m not leaving.”

“You’re not leaving?”

“Yeah, I’m permanently settling here. My parents are old now, and I’m their only daughter… My dad said… he wants to see his grandchild before he dies.” Song Yishi smiled shyly.

”

“That’s good, you’re a woman and have to get married anyway. Find a good man, and Uncle Song will have no regrets.”

“By the way, you came back to China all of a sudden… and got married all of a sudden…” Song Yishi smiled bitterly at Qin Chu.

“Is it sudden? I’ve been planning it for 7 years,” Qin Chu said faintly.

“You planned it for 7 years?” Song Yishi was flabbergasted.

Then, she proceeded to say, “Then you must really love her.”

“Yes, I do. I love her very much. She’s the best thing that has happened in my life.” Qin Chu openly admitted.

Song Yishi envied the woman Qin Chu loved, from the bottom of her heart…

“That was fast… you’re already married, but I haven’t even started looking.”

“Didn’t you date in Italy?”

“I dated a local noble who loved partying and freedom… he was a typical Sagittarius. He often went out to party and hung out with a lot of girls. In the end, I couldn’t take it anymore and broke up with him. You should know, no matter how long we’re abroad, in the end, we’re still Chinese and can never shake off our old habits and traditions. We’re fundamentally different from foreigners.”

“That’s true.”

“How’s Mrs. and Mr. Qin? Are they healthy?”

“They’re not bad.”

“I plan on visiting them tonight.”

“My dad went to visit my uncle in the States and my mom’s home alone.”

“Oh, okay, are you going home tonight? Can I maybe get a ride?” Song Yishi playfully stuck out her tongue…

“No, I’m going back to South Hill Manor tonight to be with my wife. She doesn’t like to be alone.”

“Okay.”

Song Yishi only smiled elegantly upon hearing Qin Chu’s refusal…

Huo Mian spent her afternoon fixing up the flowers and grass at South Hill Manor. She had a lot of fun.

Uncle Li and the other gardeners followed her, afraid that she would injure herself.

Then, she went upstairs to shower and changed into loungewear. She took the flowers she cut from the garden and began arranging them in the living room.

Then, Zhu Lingling called.

“Liu Siying sent a WeChat message in our class group, and she especially mentioned you.”

“Oh? What did she say?” Huo Mian asked calmly as she arranged the flowers.
