My Youth Began With Him

Her assistants saw what was happening and immediately left the room…

Huo Mian walked up to her and stood before the dressing table. “Thank you for today.”

“I’ve signed a contract with GK, and as a celebrity under your label, it’s my duty to appear on the red carpet. It’s my pleasure, Mrs. Qin.”

After a few exchanges, Huo Mian realized that not only was Mo Xue’er pretty and poised; most importantly, she was well educated.

The way she composed herself was no worse than that of socialites, and she sounded very elegant when she spoke.

Her expressions were controlled perfectly – she wasn’t arrogant or fake. She didn’t pretend to be modest, nor was she acting like a spoiled princess…

How is it that a woman as outstanding as she was failed to marry into the Huo family?

Huo Mian didn’t think that Huo Zhenghai was powerful enough to stop Huo Siqian from marrying the woman he loved…

So, the problem was Huo Siqian, wasn’t it?

“Let me know if you have any demands in the future, GK will treat you well. I may not be a GK employee, but I can make these decisions. You and Ni Yang signed with us at this crucial point in time, so we will make sure that you guys have a bright future. You can believe my words.”

Huo Mian spoke from the heart, making a promise to Mo Xue’er.

Mo Xue’er only smiled upon hearing this. “The truth is… I think you know why I came. I’m not doing this for money. I have more than enough fame and wealth. You also know that I was originally heading to the U.S. to further my career.”

“I know.” Huo Mian nodded.

“But after receiving a call from him, I immediately gave up on my original plans…” Mo Xue’er laughed.

“You and him… are you two…?” Huo Mian wasn’t one to pry on someone else’s private matters, but Mo Xue’er was so vague that Huo Mian wasn’t even sure if she and Huo Siqian were a couple.

“We never dated…”

“What?” Huo Mian was flabbergasted by what she heard.

Were the rumors all fake? But there were even photos of Mo Xue’er staying over at Huo Siqian’s mansion for three consecutive days.

“Don’t be surprised, what I mean is… I was never his girlfriend, and he was never my boyfriend. We’re just friends with benefits.”

Huo Mian didn’t say anything; instead, she looked at her quietly.

“But I failed as his bedmate because I fell in love with him.” Then, Mo Xue’er smiled bitterly as she took out a pack of cigarettes from her purse.

“Do you mind?” Mo Xue’er asked Huo Mian.

Huo Mian shook her head…

“Would you like one?”

Huo Mian shook her head again…

Mo Xue’er placed the cigarette in her mouth and lit it up like it was second nature.

Then, after taking a big breath in, she said, “I know that he doesn’t love me… but I am still willing to do anything for him. Haha, love is what makes women idiots.”

“You seem to have a heartbreaking story,” Huo Mian said quietly.

“Heartbreaking? No, not at all. I have him to thank for everything. Without him, Mo Xue’er wouldn’t have existed. I was born into an ordinary family and attended a rising star competition in hopes that I would get a chance to rise to fame. He was at the competition as well and asked me if I wanted to become famous. I told him ‘yes’, and he decided to go against all odds to make me famous, for seven years. I went from a nobody actress to an international superstar. A lot has happened, but if it weren’t for his help and support, I wouldn’t be where I am today. Therefore, I am still grateful towards him, no matter how he treats me.”

Huo Mian could tell that Mo Xue’er was very much in love with Huo Siqian…

“It’s good to be appreciative. You are a sensible woman.” Huo Mian looked at her.

“Haha… maybe. A while ago, he told me to leave this country, go to America and never come back… I didn’t want to, but I also didn’t want to say no to him. Today, he told me to sign with GK, so, here I am.”

“Thank you for signing with GK, we won’t let you down.” By ‘we’, Huo Mian meant her and Qin Chu.

“No, I don’t care about others, I just don’t want to disappoint him.” After finishing her cigarette, Mo Xue’er threw the butt onto the ground and quickly smeared it with her shoe.

“There’s something that I’m really curious about,” Mo Xue’er said.

“What is it?” Huo Mian looked at her.

“Why does he treat you so well?” Mo Xue’er returned Huo Mian’s gaze and asked, enunciating every word.
