My Youth Began With Him

“My uncle is of course happy. All the people in our family went to the Army. So long as I agree to join the army, they’d wake up from their dreams laughing.”

“Does your father know about it?”

“Why should I tell him? He only cares about his young wife and won’t care if I die or live.”

“When will you go?”

“In a couple of days.”

“So soon?” Han Yueyao’s heart missed a beat.

“I must leave the place soon. It’ll be more painful if I stall it.”

“Does Lin Hang know it?”

“I don’t want him to know; he won’t care anyway. I won’t say goodbye to him. I’ll disappear from his world silently,” Su Xiaoxiao said slowly.

“Have you decided where you’ll go?”

“Yeah. The northwest military legion.”

“The northwest?” Han Yueyao frowned. Everyone knew the northwest had the harshest environment with constant sandstorms and inconvenient transportation.

“My family have people working in the southeast military legion and the northwest military legion, so it’s easier for me to enter these two legions. But my dad is in the southwest and I’d never go there. So I can only choose northwest. They say the army is the best place to toughen a person and can even turn a bandit into a new person. Ha. After a few years, I’ll become a heroic looking female military officer.”

Su Xiaoxiao sat up and held Han Yueyao’s neck with one hand while holding her cellphone in the other hand. “Yao, let’s take some selfies. When I miss you, I’ll just look at the pictures.”

Before Han Yueyao could pose for the camera. Su Xiaoxiao clicked on the button repeatedly.

Han Yueyao truly liked her crisp manner and bold personality and took her as a great friend.

Now that her only friend would leave soon, she felt quite lost.

“Yaoyao, it’s a good thing. I finally found my goal in life… You should be happy for me.”

“Yeah, I’m truly happy for you. Xiaoxiao… you’ll have a better life. We’ll all fare better in the future,” Han Yueyao said jokingly but she forced back her tears.

“How about you? Will you pursue your happiness bravely?”

“My happiness?” Han Yueyao was surprised.

“My uncle. He’s the famous permanent bachelor in the city. For years, he only loved Sister Huo Mian, but she’ll never be with him. Even when her husband wasn’t around, she hadn’t chosen my uncle. So, if he continues like this, he’ll grow old alone…”

Hearing the words “grow old alone”, Han Yueyao felt sad, imagining the proud and outstanding Su Yu, a powerful figure, sitting in a wheelchair alone when he was old.

“No. Su Yu will find his happiness.”

“Don’t you want to be with him?”

Su Xiaoxiao glanced at Han Yueyao.

“Me? Don’t kid with me… Haha. Who am I?” Han Yueyao said self-mockingly.

“But you’re the perfect candidate.”

“But I’ve entered show business… The Su Family will never accept a performer.” Han Yueyao knew when she entered the show business against Mrs. Su’s wishes, she had been walking further away from marrying Su Yu.

“The rules are dead but people are flexible. If you truly want it, you can get it… I think you can get pregnant first. When you have a baby with him, my great grandpa will let you marry him. At that time, all they care about is the baby and no one will mind that you’re a performer, right?”

Su Xiaoxiao’s ideas were always the lousiest ones.
