His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 2279: Chapter 660: One Year Later (37)_2

”You really are heartless. They say women become more gentle with age, but I can’t see that in you at all.”

His voice remained gentle, but his bony fingers slid along her collarbone, down to her chest, slowly untying her robe.

Qin Mu felt a cold chill spread across her chest wherever his fingers touched, like ice gliding over her skin.

She looked at him, realizing that this was the only thing he was interested in doing.

For some reason, her heart stubbornly refused to be conquered by him, wanting to push him away. So, as he was lost in the love for her body, she suddenly raised her hand and pushed hard against his strong chest.

But...

He didn’t budge an inch!

He pressed down on her so firmly, and Qin Mu’s tearful eyes widened even more. She cried out in frustration because he suddenly pierced her eyes with a look of hate. Caught off guard, she immediately closed her eyes as tears welled up, hiding her face in the crook of his neck, and took a deep breath.

Mu Yichen, however, raised his hand to cradle the back of her head, comforting her sorrow.

”Are you saying I’m old?”

Qin Mu asked him, her voice tinged with sobs.

”Silly, who said you’re old? You’re just as beautiful as ever!”

”You’re saying I’m old! You said I’m not gentle despite my age.”

Qin Mu decided she might as well cry herself to death; she couldn’t push him away or escape him, and now she was being called old.

”Mrs. Mu, you are being very childish!”

Mu Yichen suddenly laughed, speaking to her in a tone full of indulgence.

Qin Mu cried even harder, thinking, What do you mean ’Mrs. Mu’?

”Let me see!”

Mu Yichen said softly, raising his hand to move hers away from her eyes, but Qin Mu refused, squirming a bit before turning her back to him while he was unprepared.

Mu Yichen found himself at a loss, sighing helplessly, then moving in close behind her, wrapping her gradually in his arms.

Just holding her like this was good; it had been a long time since he had embraced her properly.

Her body was still warm, but she was too thin. Holding her felt uncomfortable, and it seemed he needed to take her out less often and feed her more to make hugging her pleasant again.

”What do you want for breakfast tomorrow?”

The room dimmed, and he whispered into her ear before sleep.

”Hmm? Steamed dumplings? Millet porridge?”

”Whatever you make is fine,” Qin Mu mumbled, still a bit groggy but with some sense remaining, responding in a half-asleep state.

”Okay!”

Mu Yichen agreed softly, while Qin Mu drifted into a dizzy sleep.

——

In the morning, as soon as Mu Yichen went downstairs to prepare breakfast, the two little ones ran out of their room and to their door. Huanhuan, holding a key, asked, ”How do you open this door?”

Chengcheng took the key and before opening the door, turned to Huanhuan, ”What time did Dad say to open the door?”

”Uh! Right! What time did Dad say?”

The siblings completely forgot. Huanhuan was stunned, thinking they couldn’t open it too early and disturb their parents’ reconciliation time.

”Ugh! You’re several years older than me, how come you can’t remember? How can I trust you with tasks in the future?”

Chengcheng expressed his disappointment towards Huanhuan with a good-natured attitude.

”Dad said too much! Didn’t you forget too?”

Huanhuan was even more dissatisfied. Her brother blaming her, wasn’t it all Dad’s fault for saying too much? How could her genius girl memory not remember such a thing?

The siblings stood at the door for a while, growing more anxious. Chengcheng sulked and asked, ”So should we open the door or not?”

”Let’s just open it quietly and not disturb them.”

Huanhuan thought for a while and said to her brother.

Chengcheng nodded, then inserted the key into the lock. It was a bit difficult, so Huanhuan reached over to help.

With their combined effort, it was still a bit challenging, but eventually, they managed to open the door. The siblings, hearing the sound of the door opening, looked at each other in surprise and quietly pushed it open a crack.

The siblings eagerly looked through the crack, but it seemed like there was only one person on the big bed inside. They exchanged glances again and then went to step inside.

”Hmm!”

But a soft, familiar voice from behind made them turn around quickly, their big beautiful eyes nearly popping out, with their jaws almost dropping to the floor.
