His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 2261: Chapter 656: One Year Later (33) Refusing to Buy Clothes for Elders_5

”But my brother is pretty impressive this time. He really came with the kids on his own. Seems like he was really angered by my mom. Though, we did make Mom quite angry back in the day too!”

Mu Qingxin said as she turned to look at Jiang Yan, who said nothing and showed little expression. Mu Qingxin suddenly got annoyed: ”Why aren’t you saying anything? It’s no fun when I’m the only one talking!”

”If I do say something, you’ll tell me I’m meddling. Wasn’t it you who said I shouldn’t talk about your family?”

Jiang Yan helplessly reminded her.

Mu Qingxin subconsciously licked her dry lips. There was a time he said a couple of things about her family, which earned him a couple of kicks from her.

”It’s still early. Why don’t you think about where we should go? Didn’t you want to see your alma mater? How about a trip to the school?”

Jiang Yan casually changed the topic.

”School? Sure! I haven’t been back in years!”

Mu Qingxin, excited, pushed aside thoughts about the family issues.

”However, I don’t remember the way to the school anymore!”

”That’s what navigation is for!”

Jiang Yan was used to Mu Qingxin’s forgetful nature and immediately activated the GPS.

By the time they met up in the evening, they had already visited the school. They were led by the staff to the private room’s entrance, and when they pushed the door open, they saw the family of four inside. The little one was drinking juice, and the adults were chatting about something. The atmosphere felt rather tense and dull.

”Aunt!”

”Aunt! Uncle!”

Chengcheng and Huanhuan heard the door and looked up to see familiar faces, excitedly coming to life.

”My little darlings! Aunt missed you so much! Huanhuan, why aren’t you calling him uncle?”

Mu Qingxin and Jiang Yan walked over. Mu Qingxin sat with Huanhuan and petted her little face.

”Hehe!”

Huanhuan suddenly turned shy, avoiding eye contact and sipping her orange juice.

Mu Qingxin looked puzzled at Qin Mu and Mu Yichen, softly asking: ”What’s wrong with her?”

”She’s grown up!”

Qin Mu casually said, then took a serious glance at Mu Qingxin. Having not seen her for a year, Mu Qingxin had put on a bit of weight, suggesting Jiang Yan was taking good care of her.

Mu Qingxin felt flustered under Qin Mu’s gaze, her hair standing on end.

”My main task for coming back for New Year is to persuade Mom to accept you again. Please don’t blame me!”

Mu Qingxin said, blinking at Qin Mu with a hint of grievance.

Jiang Yan looked at Mu Qingxin and shook his head helplessly: ”She’s constantly feeling guilty!”

Mu Qingxin nodded repeatedly, agreeing with Jiang Yan’s statement.

”Why should you feel guilty? Your mom didn’t do anything wrong; it was just what any mother would do!”

Qin Mu softly said, aware of Mu Qingxin’s feelings but knew deep down that mothers always act in their children’s best interest.

”Uh... but you two have reconciled now, haven’t you? I really ought to talk to Mom. We’re a family, after all, and should live together, don’t you think? Before I came, Mom told me to bring these two back to play with Zifeng. I reckon she misses them.”

Mu Qingxin said while looking at Chengcheng and Huanhuan. These two of the Mu family’s little treasures were indeed treasures, not only beautiful but also smart, and she saw traces of herself in their faces, making her feel proud.

”How long are you planning to stay?”

Mu Yichen asked, pouring a cup of wine for Jiang Yan.

”Qingxin plans to return after the fifteenth.”

Jiang Yan responded to Mu Yichen with respect for his brother-in-law.

Mu Yichen said nothing further and handed the menu over, letting Mu Qingxin choose the dishes.

Mu Qingxin’s taste has changed from before, but Qin Mu and Mu Yichen felt she was accommodating Jiang Yan’s preferences.

Women!

”Do you still remember what your brother likes to eat?”

Qin Mu asked Mu Qingxin sharply, causing Mu Qingxin to lower her head and mutter while glancing at the menu: ”Why should I remember when you’re here, aren’t you?”

Qin Mu had nothing else to say, though she vividly remembered it all.

She couldn’t help but glance at him, and Mu Yichen was looking at her too. Her heart skipped a beat, making her lower her eyes instinctively.

”You’re a celebrity now. Before I go back, get me some photos with your autograph so I can show them off to those clueless ladies.”

Mu Qingxin remarked while eating.

”Aunt, I can sign an autograph for you too.”

Chengcheng butted in suddenly.

”You want to sign an autograph for Aunt? Sure, sure, but finish your meal first.”

Mu Qingxin didn’t expect Chengcheng to be so enthusiastic but prioritized talking to Qin Mu.

”I didn’t bring any photos.”

Qin Mu softly declined to sign autographs.

”Uh! What do you mean by that? You’re not going back to Paris again, are you? Have you truly made it your second hometown? Even if you have, you shouldn’t leave my brother and nieces here, should you? No wonder Mom resents you; it is indeed infuriating!”

Mu Qingxin rambled on and on.

”Ahem!”

Jiang Yan coughed twice, unable to bear listening any longer, signaling her.

Mu Qingxin knew she hadn’t been a good sister-in-law recently and remained silent after Jiang Yan’s cue.

”Mom won’t leave, Aunt, don’t worry.”

Huanhuan suddenly chimed in, initially cheerful, but moments after spoke with concern: ”But what about Grandma?”

”Let’s eat!”

Mu Yichen, intent on not discussing these topics, was relieved when the waiter began serving dishes, thus ending the conversation.

After dinner, Mu Yichen arranged for Mu Qingxin and Jiang Yan to take the kids to the Mu Family residence, while he drove Qin Mu back to the apartment.

Upon returning, Qin Mu wanted to head upstairs to shower and sleep, but Mu Yichen grabbed her wrist: ”Qin Mu!”

Qin Mu turned to look at him; it was rare for him to call her like this.

”Is there something?”

”Let’s talk!”

Mu Yichen seriously said.

Qin Mu slightly moved her eyes and followed him to the couch.

”About what?”

Qin Mu curiously asked him, with a hint of emptiness in her eyes.

”Don’t take Qingxin’s words to heart!”

Mu Yichen said, still holding her hand.

Qin Mu instinctively nodded, not intending to argue or explain further.

Many suspected she returned for reconciliation, but she saw no reason to dwell on it.

”I mean, about Mom’s attitude.”

Mu Yichen, noticing her thoughts, altered his approach.

Qin Mu instinctively gazed at him, wondering amidst the depths of his eyes what she was actually doing here, so she nodded again.

Mu Yichen relaxed a bit, and then Qin Mu asked: ”Can I go upstairs now?”

”Sleeping on the couch, aren’t you?”

Mu Yichen couldn’t help but chuckle.

”They’re not here tonight. I have plenty of rooms to sleep in!”

Qin Mu said as she pulled her hand out from his grasp and stood up to leave.
