In response to Sheyan’s questioning, Sanzi blushed. ”No, it’s because I received a notification which said that I can’t tell this secret to ordinary people. If I do, the person I told will be killed. What if you’re only in the process of studying the damn realm? If I told you, you might be hurt.

Sheyan smiled meaningfully as he said, ”Okay, I believe you; I believe that this is the main reason. But I also believe that you made that decision because you were afraid I would never let you in again. This fucking realm. If I were to leak the secret, I would be the one punished, but in your case they would only punish the person you told. It seems that the damn realm really favours you.”

When it came to the question of realm privileges, Sanzi had a lot to say. ”Of course. I’ve managed to find out that the average person who enters the realm is called a contestant. Those that the realm considers to have some potential are called Seeded Contestants. Those with even more potential are called Candidates. Finally, elites like me are called the Chosen. Normal contestants can only request for help from the realm, but for Chosen like us, the realm thinks that our power will be of great help to them after we grow.

Sheyan’s eyes squinted slightly. He suddenly thought of Hakeem, whom he had killed. That woman also held the title of a Seeded Contestant. They should be those recognised by a realm as ”geniuses” and they were further categorised according to their potential.

These geniuses were definitely very scarce. After he killed Hakeem, a Seeded Contestant who had passed the test of the G Realm, it angered the G realm so much that he was instantly made a target by that realm. It was evident how much importance the realms placed on their Seeded Contestants. If that’s the case, Sanzi would probably get even more attention! Sheyan asked again, ”Is there an even higher category of talent above yours?”

”There is,” Sanzi nodded. ”The most powerful geniuses are called the Apostles.”

”Apostles....”When Sheyan heard the name of the category, the image of the Cardinal emerged in his mind. It was hard to believe that someone as powerful as that was only a duplicate!

Sheyan only took 4 out of the Cardinal’s seven deadly sins and he was already on the verge of death! If the Cardinal he faced was the real thing and not just a duplicate, Sheyan would never have escaped. That guy was probably one of the so called Apostles!

Sheyan asked Sanzi to sit down. He looked around and smiled. ”I’ve checked this place out just now. I’m guessing that you’re a summoner adept in summoning living creatures?”

Sanzi scratched his head and laughed as he said, ”Well, brother, you know that I’ve liked feeding stray dogs and cats since I was a kid. Sometimes, they would even do what I tell them to.”

Sheyan nodded. He recalled that when Sanzi was still a kid, he could tame a sparrow to become even more obedient than a reared chicken. He could even use the sparrow as a carrier pigeon to send love notes to girls in other classes.

Sanzi continued, ”When I went through the Titanic world, I got the legendary Heart of the Ocean, and somehow it fused with my innate ability.... so I have some confidence in my summoning skills. It’s a pity that I only had a lucky encounter like that in my first world.”

Sanzi had complete trust in Sheyan so he showed Sheyan his personal innate ability without the slightest hesitation.

[Chosen contestant No. XP’s Outstanding Innate Ability: Heart of the Pack (Passive) - When you use your recruitment ability on a creature for the first time, the creature’s affection for you immediately increases by 50 points, and even if the recruitment fails, you won’t anger the creature (limited to the first recruitment attempt in 12 hours).]

[If any of the creatures you recruited die, it can be resurrected after twelve hours. This will apply even to some special creatures that are specified as unable to be resurrected. Of course, the cost of resurrecting such creatures will increase correspondingly.]

[Hint: This innate ability has been fused with the light green upgradeable equipment: Heart of the Ocean Lvl 3 (371/1000), which is evaluated as grade S]

[’Heart of the Ocean’ current additional bonus: a permanent 10% increase in the owner’s chance of success in recruitment. This effect has domain precedence.]

(TL: No precedence < slight precedence < Authoritative (crushing damage belongs here) < Domain precedence < Domain authority)

[’Heart of the Ocean’ current additional bonus: a permanent 10-point increase in the owner’s Intelligence, Spirit, Charm, and Perceptive Sense, plus an additional 5-point increase in Charm. (Admittedly, this brilliant gem can make the owner appear more elegant and attract the attention of others)]

[’Heart of the Ocean’ current additional bonus: Getting this precious gem requires not only Strength, but also Luck. The absolute drop rate of the target attacked by you or the creatures you control increases by 3%.]

[Hint: With the growth of the Heart of the Ocean, the additional bonuses will also increase.]

[Hint: Outstanding Innate Ability can choose a piece of equipment as the carrier of the ability. The enhancement provided by the Heart of the Ocean that has fused with this ability will not be factored into difficulty calculation.]

[Innate Ability Evaluation: A]

Sheyan felt like laughing and crying at the same time. The realm sure did favour the Chosen quite a bit. In order to prevent them from dying early on, they were given so much preferential treatment!

And Sanzi’s innate ability was crazy strong. He wouldn’t be attacked in his first attempt at recruiting a creature even if he failed, which means he had an extra chance to recruit compared to the other summoners.

More crucially, some of the more powerful creatures usually couldn’t be resurrected after they died. Often, when a powerful creature that a summoner worked hard to cultivate was killed, they would lose almost everything. Sanzi could break this limitation.

The latter descriptions further introduced Sheyan to the formidability of the Chosen. For example, Sanzi’s outstanding innate ability which was equivalent to an additional equipment slot compared to the rest of the contestants. Also, it seemed that the realm pretty much handed him an equipment that was compatible with his innate ability as soon as he started his adventure in the nightmare worlds! And it was a unique equipment which had no duplicates too!

Sheyan could already imagine the role the equipment would play during the breakthrough trial in preventing crushing damages and attributes. The problem that Sheyan needed painstaking effort and preparation to solve would not even be a problem that Sanzi would notice!

Sheyan once again looked at Sanzi’s tear-stained pillow and said quietly, ”You should be crying because you finally realised the cruelty of the nightmare realm, right? Although you’re a Chosen who’s heavily favoured by the realm, it’s impossible for your journey to be smooth sailing all the way. After your romantic and lucky encounters on the Titanic, you should have experienced the torment and despair of life and death. Am I right?”

”You’re right, brother.” Sanzi’s face was contorted. He suddenly yelled in indignation, ”But! I wasn’t crying because I was afraid of death. I...I really regret joining my current party! At first, I thought that woman truly loves me, but it turns out she was only using me. When I found out that she had another man, she immediately turned against me. What’s worse, she orders me around like a slave afterwards!”

Sheyan’s eyes flashed with a fierce killing intention, but they returned to normal almost instantly. He patted the shoulder of Sanzi while he laughed and said, ”So it’s women problems. Sanzi, listen to me. Your problem is really common. It’s nothing. There are people whose experience were a lot more miserable.”

When Sanzi was interrupted by Sheyan, he immediately forgot his sadness. ”There are people who had it worse than me?” he exclaimed in surprise.

Sheyan shrugged and said, ”You don’t believe me? Do you know that the realm has a function to alter appearances? ”

”I do. So?” asked Sanzi.

Sheyan said mysteriously, ”So, sometimes the beautiful women you meet are men who had put on a disguise....and you won’t know it until they strip naked.”

”That would be worse than my case,” Sanzi could not help laughing.

Sheyan saw that he had successfully diverted Sanzi’s attention. In order to not let Sanzi wallow in his grief, he asked, ”I guess your party was attracted to your special effect of +3% absolute drop rate?”

Although the increase in absolute drop rate was a meagre 3%, but it’s actually a terrifying effect. For example, if a boss had a 3% probability of dropping dark gold equipment, 10% probability of dropping silver storyline equipment, and 15% probability of dropping black equipment, the 3% increase in probability would apply to all the drop rates. 3% wasn’t much for those with high probability, but when it applied to the drop rate of equipment with very low probability of dropping, it’s an astonishing increment.

Sheyan was about to say something when his phone suddenly rang. He could tell that it was Zi from the ringtone. He thought about it, then picked up the call.

”Hello, this is Sheyan.”

The voice of Zi transmitted over. Although her voice was calm, it carried an ounce of guilt.

”Seaman....we suffered heavy losses in the last world. I’ve let you down. ”

Sheyan’s heart sank. If Zi said they suffered heavy losses, then the loss must be quite considerable! Their last world was the world of Resident Evil and they probably fought around Raccoon City, so there shouldn’t have been much risk.

Sheyan took a deep breath and asked what he most wanted to know.

”How heavy is the loss?”

Zi answered after a moment’s silence, ”Someone died. We failed all our main mission and side missions. Everyone has their base attributes and achievement points deducted. Our utility points are in the red.”

Sheyan closed his eyes and asked with some difficulty, ”How did this happen?”
