Chapter 54: MSOC: Chapter 54

Jōnin Elite?

Kakashi and the others were stunned. Rin, in particular, couldn’t help but say, ”Minato-sensei, isn’t he wearing a Chunin headband? How did he become a Jōnin Elite?”

In the ninja ranks, there are Genin, Chunin, Special Jōnin, Jōnin, and Jōnin Elite.

Special Jōnin refers to those who have surpassed the strength of a Chunin but haven’t reached the level of a Jōnin. They have special individual skills, and their overall strength barely meets the Jōnin assessment. They are called Special Jōnin.

For example, in the original story, Gekko Hayate, who knew the Konoha-style Crescent Moon Dance swordsmanship, or a ninja who excels in a certain type of genjutsu, or perhaps has exceptional abilities in a certain field.

As for Jōnin Elite, they are the elite among Jōnin.

”He was specially promoted to Jōnin Elite by the Third Hokage yesterday. The announcement hasn’t been made yet, so he hasn’t had time to change his headband,” Minato Namikaze said helplessly.

He wasn’t good at explaining.

If the Third Hokage hadn’t issued a gag order, forbidding them from revealing Kai’s situation, Minato Namikaze would have been happy to spill the beans.

”The Third Hokage promoted him personally?” Uchiha Obito couldn’t contain himself.

”Kai, you didn’t awaken the two-tomoe Sharingan, did you? Or did you awaken the three-tomoe like the Clan Head?”

”Kakashi, look. This is the genius of our Uchiha clan. He’s much stronger than your Chunin.”

Looking at Uchiha Obito, who was full of himself and still trying to show off, Kai rolled his eyes helplessly. ”Kakashi became a Jōnin today too.”

His quiet voice stunned Uchiha Obito.

He had always regarded Kakashi as a rival. He thought that after awakening the Sharingan, he would be able to surpass Kakashi.

However, he was now being told that Kakashi had already become a Jōnin without even awakening the Sharingan.

However, this should have been great news. But compared to Kai’s Jōnin Elite title, it seemed a little less impressive.

”Obito, don’t you remember?” Rin quickly stepped in to ease the tension. ”We said we should get Kakashi a gift.”

”This is my gift. It’s a bit ugly, but it’s very useful in critical moments,” Minato Namikaze took out his Flying Thunder God Kunai.

Rin also quickly took out her specially made medical kit. ”Kakashi, I made this myself. I hope you can use it.”

Hearing this strange blessing, Kai wanted to pinch Rin’s nose.

However, before Kai could react, Minato Namikaze winked at him.

”Kai, as a senior, shouldn’t you show some appreciation?”

Kakashi was stunned. After taking the Flying Thunder God Kunai and the medical kit, he said, ”Minato-sensei, I don’t need anything from him.”

Looking at Kakashi, who was a little stubborn, Minato Namikaze couldn’t help but feel a headache. ”Kakashi, this is a rare opportunity. If I didn’t have a bit of a friendship with Kai, no one would be able to get anything good from him.”

”Good things?” Kakashi frowned. ”Minato-sensei, would his things be better than the Flying Thunder God Kunai?”

”If there really are, I’ll just take a look. I won’t take them.”

In Kakashi’s eyes, Kai was about the same age as him.

On what should have been a joyous occasion, he had been subdued by Kai in one move.

He had also been overshadowed by his Jōnin Elite title.

It was harder than climbing Mount Fuji to make him happy.

”Alright, since you’ve made up your mind, I’ll beg Kai to show you two.” Minato Namikaze looked at Kai helplessly.

”Minato, can’t you be more mature?” Kai couldn’t help but say.

However, he flipped his hand, and a sealing scroll appeared in his hand.

Bang!

White mist swirled, and the ferocious Samehada and Lightning Blade appeared in Kai’s hand.

”Haha, you start off with Samehada and the Lightning Blade of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen. You’re really generous, Kai,” Minato Namikaze’s eyes lit up. ”Why don’t you be a big man and forgive the little guy and give Kakashi a gift?”

”No way!” Kai flipped his hand and put Samehada and the Lightning Blade back into the scroll.

”I’m keeping them for my collection.”

Seeing the duck fly out of his grasp, Minato Namikaze felt helpless and a little regretful.

However, compared to him, Kakashi and the others couldn’t contain themselves.

The Seven Ninja Swordsmen’s reputation was well-known throughout the ninja world.

The seven swords were their lifeblood. It was always said that the swords and the people were inseparable.

However, now, Samehada and the Lightning Blade, two of the seven swords, were in Kai’s hands. This meant that two of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen had fallen.

Moreover, they had fallen at the hands of the young man in front of them.

”Teacher!” Uchiha Obito couldn’t contain himself.

Before he could finish, he saw Minato Namikaze nodding with a wry smile.

”Kakashi, you’re out of luck this time. I was planning to snatch something from you.”

”But you’re right. One of the reasons why Kai became a Jōnin Elite is that he killed two of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist.”

As he spoke, Minato Namikaze looked at Kai. ”This time, because the situation at Kannabi Bridge is urgent, we’ll be split into two teams to carry out the mission.”

”I’ll go alone. The three of you will be led by Kai.”

What?

Uchiha Obito and the others were stunned.

Kakashi couldn’t contain himself. ”Minato-sensei, teamwork is about cooperation. Kai might be strong, but forcing us to team up with him is probably not appropriate.”

Seeing Kakashi, who usually argued with Uchiha Obito, say this, Minato Namikaze knew that Kakashi didn’t want to be with Kai.

He sighed helplessly. ”Kakashi, this is the Third Hokage’s order. And it’s an emergency wartime deployment.”

Order?

Kakashi was stunned for a moment, then said expressionlessly, ”Since it’s the Third Hokage’s order, I will obey. But I want to remind you that no matter who it is, they absolutely cannot break the rules. Otherwise, they will be despised.”

Looking at Kakashi, who was looking like he had lost his father, Kai rolled his eyes helplessly. ”Don’t worry, I don’t usually follow the rules. The Third Hokage’s orders are no exception.”

”I don’t want to be the captain. In the following actions, the three of you will be a team, led by Kakashi. I’ll act independently.”

You’re going alone?

Uchiha Obito was stunned. He quickly said, ”Kai, this is the Third Hokage’s order. If you disrupt the rules, you’ll probably be despised when you return to the village.”

”Despised?” Kai smiled faintly and waved his hand. ”So what? Why should I care about what they think?”

”Forget about being despised. Even if the sky falls, I won’t care.”

”Minato, it’s getting late. Let’s go. I’m getting a headache from these little brats. You’re a great shirker. Why don’t we switch? You lead the team, and I’ll go kill people.”
