Soul Emperor Martial God

Chapter 2009: Chapter 2009: Protection and Guardianship

”You...”

The Heavenly Mechanism Palace Master was evidently somewhat exasperated.

But after a while, he sneered, revealing a smug expression.

”Old Man Soul, calling that boy back won’t help.”

”I already told him long ago, someone is already chosen to inherit your Soul Hall.”

”You’ve cherished that chosen boy greatly and pinned great hopes on him.”

”A few days ago, because of this, you have bullied Xiao Xun so much, even resorting to murderous intent.”

”Tsk tsk.” The Heavenly Mechanism Palace Master chuckled smugly, ”For the sake of that boy, you’ve spared no effort to turn around and oppress Xiao Xun like this.”

”Do you think Xiao Xun will care about you?”

”Old Man Soul, every Heavenly Talent and Monster has pride. Xiao Xun’s pride, you’ve witnessed it.”

”For the sake of another boy, you bullied him like this, how do you think he perceives you as the Soul Hall Master?” Tsk tsk.”

The Soul Hall Master frowned immediately, then relaxed after a while.

He shook his head.

The Soul Hall Master said solemnly, ”Though he is proud, he may not be unreasonable.”

”I can persuade him with emotion and reason, it might work.”

”On the contrary, it’s you.” The Soul Hall Master chuckled softly.

”If I’m not mistaken, you secretly gave him that Vice Hall Token, without letting him know your intent, right?”

”Half a year ago.” The Soul Hall Master recounted slowly.

”That Purple Flame Yi Xiao shocked the continent, such a monster that anyone would covet.”

”Especially now that the world is increasingly changing, we old ones are increasingly impatient.”

”Yet, such a terrifying monster was already taken in by the Demon Hunting Hall.”

”Unfortunately, later it was rumored that Purple Flame Yi Xiao didn’t care for even the position of Hall Master, never intended to inherit the Three Halls, leaving those three old ones angry for a long time.”

”And you.” The Soul Hall Master said coldly, ”Cunning as you are, upon seeing Xiao Xun, you decided not to let this happen again.”

”First gave the Token, concealed the purpose.”

”These days, you’ve been preparing for matters within the Heavenly Mechanism Hall Inheritance Land.”

”You’re thinking, when Xiao Xun returns, you’ll let him enter and receive the inheritance.”

”Then, having obtained the token and the inheritance in him, he would have no possibility of refusal.”

”Though out of good intentions, calculating him like this, as you said, how would he with such pride think?”

”That’s none of your concern.” The Heavenly Mechanism Palace Master replied coldly.

”I don’t care.” The Soul Hall Master shook his head, ”As I said, the decision is in the hands of that boy.”

”Moreover, he has already returned.” The Soul Hall Master chuckled.

The Heavenly Mechanism Palace Master squinted his eyes, his figure flickered, and he left.

Beside him, Senior Luoo’s face had already turned unsightly.

”Perhaps, you two will soon regret today’s argument.”

Senior Luoo said coldly as always.

The Soul Hall Master shook his head, ”Your judgment has always been more accurate, never flawed.”

”You should know, Xiao Xun indeed is outstanding.”

Senior Luoo squinted his eyes, ”He is indeed outstanding, far surpassing any monster I’ve seen.”

”But perhaps the more outstanding, the more likely to fall.”

The Soul Hall Master frowned, ”He is the heavenly talent of our Three Halls.”

”Perhaps not.” Senior Luoo said indifferently.

”Again, you might soon regret.”

The Soul Hall Master shook his head, ”I still stand by my words, I no longer have a choice.”

”Besides, the choice now is very good, no, excellent, much better than before.”

As his voice fell, the Soul Hall Master flickered and departed too.

...

Meanwhile, high above the Heavenly Mechanism Region, a black light flashed by.

The light was precisely Xiao Yi rushing back at high speed.

Swoosh...

Xiao Yi took several steps in mid-air, landing steadily within the Main Hall.

Just as he landed, in front of him, a figure materialized out of thin air.

It was the Heavenly Mechanism Palace Master.

”Greetings, Palace Master.” Xiao Yi quickly bowed.

”Not sure if the Palace Master’s urgent summons for me to return is due to a pressing matter?”

In fact, Xiao Yi hurried back without understanding why the Palace Master summoned him urgently.

If it’s something significant, his meager strength couldn’t possibly assist the Palace Master.

And if the Palace Master simply wanted to see him, there was no need for an urgent summon.

The Heavenly Mechanism Palace Master sniffed in response.

He wasn’t the one who sent the urgent summons.

Just then, beside them, the Soul Hall Master appeared.

”Xiao Xun, perhaps we can talk.”

The Soul Hall Master said directly.

”There’s nothing to discuss.” The Heavenly Mechanism Palace Master interrupted first.

”Kid, come with me.”

”Yes.” Xiao Yi nodded, following the Heavenly Mechanism Palace Master, ignoring the Soul Hall Master.

The Soul Hall Master frowned deeply.

Up ahead, the Heavenly Mechanism Palace Master smiled with satisfaction.

In the study room.

The figure of Senior Luo had already disappeared.

The Heavenly Mechanism Palace Master sat down at the desk, then gestured for Xiao Yi to sit down casually.

Xiao Yi nodded.

”I wonder what matter the Palace Master has called me for?” As soon as Xiao Yi sat down, he asked.

In fact, if there was nothing major, he would rather wait in Guisha City.

Once the three days are over, he would get the Ten Thousand Poison Fruit first.

”It’s nothing big,” the Heavenly Mechanism Palace Master waved his hand and said, ”I just prepared something for you, and it’s almost ready now.”

”That’s why I called you back earlier.”

”In another day or two, you can directly enter our Heavenly Mechanism Hall’s Inheritance Land.”

”Enter the Inheritance Land?” Xiao Yi frowned.

At other times, it would be fine.

But three days later, he still had to make a trip to the Heartless Inn.

Entering the Inheritance Land for reflection on the inheritance could take an unknown amount of time.

”Palace Master.” Xiao Yi stood up, cupped his hands, and said, ”I still have some matters, could I first complete them and enter the Inheritance Land three days later?”

The Heavenly Mechanism Palace Master saw Xiao Yi suddenly act in this way, slightly surprised, then smiled after hearing him, ”Of course, a few days won’t make a difference.”

”Finish your business, and then return.”

Hearing this, Xiao Yi breathed a sigh of relief, ”That’s good.”

”Of course, I have something else to discuss with you,” the Heavenly Mechanism Palace Master said with a light smile.

”What is it?” Xiao Yi asked.

”You should now know the significance of the Vice Hall Token I gave you, right?” the Heavenly Mechanism Palace Master asked.

”I know,” Xiao Yi nodded.

”Hm,” the Heavenly Mechanism Palace Master nodded, ”The Vice Hall Token, unique within the entire hall, is an item that only the next successor can receive.”

”In terms of significance, it even surpasses the two Main Hall Tokens.”

”Like the one I’m carrying now, I can give it to anyone I want to look after, but the Vice Hall Token can only be given to you.”

”Of course, the Vice Hall Token itself holds the rights of the General Order, as if the Palace Master himself were present, so I won’t elaborate much.”

Xiao Yi nodded, knowing that the Heavenly Mechanism Palace Master had already been favoring and valuing him.

He just hadn’t discussed it openly before.

After all, he had long inherited several martial arts inheritances from the Heavenly Mechanism Palace Master, so he could not refuse even if he wished to then.

This favor was acknowledged long ago.

Since Xiao Yi had been willing to accept it, even the various spirit veins, protective items, and so on from the Heavenly Mechanism Palace Master, he had accepted gladly.

”There’s one more thing I want to discuss with you,” the Heavenly Mechanism Palace Master said with a light smile, ”Do you know what status Array Masters have among various professions?”

”This...” Xiao Yi hesitated, there are many ways to answer such a question.

The Heavenly Mechanism Palace Master did not intend for Xiao Yi to answer but spoke first, ”It is an extremely safe profession.”

”Array Masters inherently don’t have strong direct combat capabilities.”

”Therefore, no one would let them confront the enemy first.”

”Of course, if the array of an Array Master truly takes shape, it becomes invincible, even stronger than body cultivation martial artists.”

”Thus, Array Masters are nearly always the most protected existence among any martial artists.”

The Heavenly Mechanism Palace Master smiled, ”Back during the ancient war.”

”Array Masters often hid in the back, while the ghost soul masters with strange means and the black mages with endlessly emerging techniques faced the front.”

”Once the Array Master’s great formation formed, it marked the end of the battle, even potentially turning the tide.”

”That’s why Array Masters are safer than anyone else.”

The Heavenly Mechanism Palace Master smiled again, ”I still remember, I don’t know how many millions of years ago.”

”Old Man Soul and I were still young, about your age now.”

”We ventured together, every time it was Old Man Soul who went up to fight, getting beaten up with a bruised face, getting wounded all over, it was him.”

”While I, on each occasion, remained unscathed.”

”Uh.” Xiao Yi awkwardly said, ”Palace Master, please speak frankly.”

The Heavenly Mechanism Palace Master nodded, smiled smugly, ”I told you so much just to advise you that it’s better not to become something like a ghost soul master or a black mage.”

”Array Master is the safest profession.”

”Of course, the decision rests in your hands.”

The last sentence, the Heavenly Mechanism Palace Master’s tone was exceedingly earnest and solemn.

Xiao Yi heard this, gave a faint smile but also shook his head.

”The only things that can make me fight are the people and things I wish to protect.”

”Rather than being protected, I prefer to protect myself.”

Xiao Yi’s tone was equally serious.

Upon hearing this, the Heavenly Mechanism Palace Master frowned slightly, but the admiration in his eyes became more pronounced.

”Very well, that’s your own decision, I won’t press you.”

”Alright then.” The Heavenly Mechanism Palace Master resumed his light smile, ”Our conversation is over here.”

”Old Man Soul is still waiting for you outside, if you don’t go find him soon, he’s likely to throw a fit.”

The Heavenly Mechanism Palace Master knew very well that for countless tens of thousands of years, his old partner had always worn an expression as calm as a still lake, indifferent to everything.

But today, that calm lake has rippled countless times.

”Oh right.” The Heavenly Mechanism Palace Master smiled knowingly, ”That Emperor Soul Fruit is quite a treasure, don’t forget it.”

...

Third update.

Today’s updates, done.
