Soul Emperor Martial God

Chapter 748: Chapter 748: Killing the Wind Beast Emperor

Thousand Wind Sect, within the Council Hall, Ye Liu had already departed.

But the complexions of the Martial Artists inside the Council Hall were extremely somber, without the slightest relaxation.

The threat of the Wind Beasts still weighed heavily on everyone’s mind.

Once the Wind Beast Emperor led the vast army of Wind Beasts out of their lair, the consequences would be unpredictable.

After some discussion, the Sect Master of the Thousand Wind Sect finally slammed his hand down on the table and stood up.

”Then it’s settled,” the Sect Master of Thousand Wind Sect said in a deep voice.

”We will prepare the Thousand Wind Formation once again.”

”This time, with the assistance of the two commanders from the Royal Family, the power of the formation will surely increase significantly.”

”Additionally,” the Thousand Wind Sect Master looked at the Great Elder of the Thousand Wind Sect and said, ”Issue the order to be ready to activate the Sect’s Great Formation at any time.”

”If we cannot kill that accursed creature within the Thousand Wind Canyon.”

”Once that accursed creature breaks out of the Thousand Wind Canyon, immediately employ the Sect’s Great Formation, combining the full strength of our Thousand Wind Sect with all the prominent Martial Artists present, and fight it to the death.”

”Yes,” the Great Elder of the Thousand Wind Sect said, bowing and taking the command.

”My friends,” the Thousand Wind Sect Master said to everyone with a salute, ”We are indebted to you all for coming to assist us.”

”Once the menace of the Wind Beasts is thoroughly eliminated, our Thousand Wind Sect will surely offer a generous reward.”

”The Sect Master of Thousand Wind is too polite,” the crowd responded with a salute in unison.

The Sect Master of the Thousand Wind Sect said, ”Gentlemen, please rest first.”

”I will go with the elders of our Sect to prepare the materials needed for the formation.”

”In half a day, we set out for the Thousand Wind Canyon.”

”Yes,” everyone nodded.

...

Half a day’s time flew by in an instant.

A procession of Martial Artists from the Thousand Wind Sect traveled mightily towards the Thousand Wind Canyon.

”The time I’ve predicted for the Wind Beast Emperor to break through the formation should be about now,” the Sect Master of the Thousand Wind Sect said gravely.

The group stood atop a mountain peak.

Heavenly Extreme Realm, four people: the Sect Master of Thousand Wind, the Great Elder of the Thousand Wind Sect, and two commanders of the Imperial Guard from the Royal Family.

With such a lineup, everyone felt quite confident.

”Hm?” The Sect Master of the Thousand Wind Sect looked toward the depths of the canyon and suddenly frowned, ”What is that?”

Deep within the canyon, there was a faint glow of firelight, extremely weak.

”What’s the matter?” The other three Heavenly Extreme Realm individuals simultaneously looked perplexed into the canyon.

The Sect Master of the Thousand Wind Sect glanced at the Thousand Wind Sect Disciples around him.

A Disciple of the Thousand Wind Sect hurried over, bowed, and said, ”Reporting to the Sect Master, these faint glimmers of firelight have been appearing intermittently for the past day and a half.”

”A day and a half ago?” The Sect Master of the Thousand Wind Sect frowned and said, ”Wasn’t that right after our battle with the Wind Beast Emperor?”

”Yes,” replied the Disciple of the Thousand Wind Sect, ”Not long after the Sect Master and the elders returned with the other Martial Artists to the top of the peak.”

”Suddenly, a soaring firelight appeared within the canyon.”

”However, after just a few hours, the firelight became more and more faint; by now, it’s barely visible.”

”Soaring firelight?” The Sect Master of Thousand Wind seemed to realize something, and his face changed dramatically, ”Dammit, if there’s something unusual within the canyon, why wasn’t it reported immediately?”

That Disciple was shocked and hesitantly said, ”I intended to report it, but the Deacon said that the firelight was merely caused by a violent Fire Attribute Gang Wind within the canyon.”

”Thus, there was no need to disturb the Sect Master and the other seniors’ discussions.”

”Idiot,” the Sect Master of Thousand Wind said angrily, ”How many years have we been guarding this Thousand Wind Canyon?”

”How many times have we withstood the attacks of the Wind Beasts every five years?”

”When have you ever seen soaring firelight within the canyon?”

The Sect Master, with a livid face, clenched his teeth, with a surge of killing intent rising on his face.

That Disciple, trembling with fear, dared not say more.

Beside him, the Great Elder of the Thousand Wind Sect said gravely, ”Sect Master, what is so urgent?”

”Some minor anomalies within the canyon are nothing to be angry about.”

”You’re an idiot too,” the Sect Master of Thousand Wind Sect snapped coldly.

”Do you remember the Deacon from the First Main Hall of the Asura Hall?”

”That kid? I think his name was... Xiao Yi,” said the Great Elder of the Thousand Wind Sect, and suddenly something occurred to him, and his face went pale as well.

”Do you mean to say that those glimmers of firelight were produced by that kid?”

”No... it’s not possible,” the Great Elder of Thousand Wind Sect shook his head.

”According to the Third Elder, that kid is a Sword Dao Practitioner, and he follows the Cold Ice Dao. He has also cultivated some of the Wind Dao.”

”He isn’t a martial artist who practices the Fire Dao.”

”No,” the Thousand Wind Sect Master said gravely, ”as far as I know, that kid once sold a large quantity of high-grade elixirs to the Thousand Wind Trading Company.”

”That means, he is an alchemist.”

”An alchemist, even if not specializing in the Fire Dao, would at least have some exposure to it.”

”Moreover, being a high-grade alchemist, he must possess strong fire control techniques.”

”It must have been he who sent out that soaring fire signal.”

As soon as the Thousand Wind Sect Master finished speaking,

the expressions of many martial artists around shifted significantly.

The Great Elder of the Thousand Wind Sect grew pale, his steps involuntarily retreating one pace.

”If he was the one who sent out that soaring fire signal, it could very likely be a distress signal.”

”Even if it wasn’t, it also suggests that he is fighting a desperate battle against wind beasts at the bottom of the canyon.”

The Thousand Wind Sect Master nodded, his face grim, ”If he had died after falling to the bottom of the canyon, then so be it.”

”But he didn’t die, he fought alongside us, and yet we turned a blind eye to his plight.”

”You can imagine how he must feel, fighting alone in the dark depths of the canyon, with no one coming to his rescue.”

”Agony, despair, waiting for death!” the Great Elder of Thousand Wind Sect gritted his teeth.

”Damn it.”

”If we had known earlier, we might have been able to discuss what to do,” the Thousand Wind Sect Master said in a heavy voice.

”But now, after a day and a half, the firelight within the canyon has become very weak.”

”This indicates that he has already...”

The Thousand Wind Sect Master didn’t finish his sentence.

But all the martial artists surrounding him, especially those who had participated in the fight that day, began to show extremely troubled expressions.

They were unrelated to Xiao Yi.

But they had once fought the enemy together.

If Xiao Yi had already been dead, there would be nothing to say.

But Xiao Yi was not dead. Instead, he was struggling alone fighting demon beasts in the depths of the canyon, without any support, in complete desperation, waiting for death.

Anyone could imagine that feeling.

Crack, crack... the fists of the Great Elder of Thousand Wind Sect clenched tightly.

”Those cursed wind beasts, I must slaughter them all,” he said.

”It’s no use saying anything now,” the Thousand Wind Sect Master said gravely.

”All we can do is wait.”

”Wait for the Wind Beast Emperor to come out or to lure it out and kill it.”

The Great Elder of the Thousand Wind Sect nodded.

There was much discussion amongst the crowd above the canyon.

Meanwhile, at the bottom of the canyon, everyone thought that Xiao Yi had already perished. But in reality, he was still single-handedly facing off against the Wind Beast Emperor.

However, the current situation was not as grim as one might expect; in fact, it was quite relaxed.

The surrounding fire seas had long since vanished.

Only a few scattered remnants of the fire continued to burn.

Before him, the huge Wind Beast Emperor, although its eyes were fierce to the extreme, was completely unable to get the better of Xiao Yi.

No, to be precise, at this moment, the Wind Beast Emperor seemed very weak.

And in front of it, Xiao Yi was smiling coldly.

In his hand, he held something resembling a pot for wine.

The pot, shiny all over, was obviously no ordinary object.

It was the Wind Saint Pot.

”I knew long ago that without the ability for Wind Control, without the thousands of Gang Winds around, you are nothing but paper tigers,” Xiao Yi sneered.

”Only, I didn’t expect that the Wind Saint Pot could actually suppress the winds here.”

At that moment, all the Gang Winds around were continuously flowing into the Wind Saint Pot in Xiao Yi’s hand.

...

First update.
