Soul Emperor Martial God

Chapter 642: Chapter 642: Conviction

”No need for the formalities,” the Divine Martial King said with a beaming wave of the hand.

”Here, sit beside me.”

”Uh,” Xiao Yi said, taking a seat to the Divine Martial King’s right with mild embarrassment.

His seat was positioned above those of the Eight Great Commanders.

The woman, on the other hand, casually found a seat for herself and took it.

”Good, everyone is present,” the Divine Martial King said, reclaiming his authoritative expression.

Listening from the side, Xiao Yi frowned.

The Abyss Beast Tide was over; what could be so important?

The next second, Xiao Yi noticed that several people were missing from the seats of the Eight Great Commanders and the Main Hall Master.

”It’s time to bring them up,” declared the Divine Martial King with dignity.

”Yes,” Emperor Yee rose from his seat, bowed, and then turned to leave.

It wasn’t long before he returned, accompanied by several figures.

They were the Poison Emperor, the Black Wood Palace Master, two leaders from the Ice Martial Fortress—Bing Wuying and Bing Xuantian—as well as two leaders from the Black Wood Fortress and two from the Heavenly Gold Fortress.

Those missing from their seats were precisely these individuals.

”Greetings, Divine Martial King, Hall Masters,” the Poison Emperor and the others bowed.

”Do you acknowledge your crimes?” the Divine Martial King asked solemnly.

”We acknowledge our crimes,” they said in unison.

”Then how should you be punished?” the Divine Martial King asked gravely.

”We are willing to die to atone for our crimes,” they stated without hesitation.

”Die?” the Divine Martial King’s face turned cold, ”Before the Beast Tide, you actually poisoned your former comrades-in-arms.”

”As a result, all the top warriors of the fortresses had their strength reduced by a notch.”

”This left the East Sea Fortress in a terribly passive position when facing the Beast Tide, almost leading to a disaster.”

”Fortunately, the twins turned the tide, and the disaster of the Beast Tide was averted.”

”Otherwise, even dying a million times would not make amends for your actions.”

Filled with guilt, the Poison Emperor and the others bowed their previously arrogant heads, their eyes full of self-reproach.

”Since you admit your guilt, I’ll make it quick for you,” said the Divine Martial King. His majestic aura erupted.

The Divine Martial King, having neutralized the poison, regained his full strength.

With his power, killing the Poison Emperor and the others would be a simple task.

”Wait,” Xiao Yi interjected timely.

”What is it?” The Poison Emperor and the others furrowed their brows.

”If Sword Sect’s Genius Xiao Yi does not wish to give us an easy death, then we are willing to die in agony,” the Poison Emperor said with a bitter smile, showing no resentment towards Xiao Yi.

Xiao Yi shook his head and spoke softly, ”The Beast Tide is over.”

”Our grievances are, frankly, nothing more than conflicts of pride.”

”This Beast Tide, the Abyss Demon Beasts suffered ninety percent casualties, but the Human Martial Artists also did not escape lightly; there’s no need for more deaths.”

”You are all Extreme Realm powerhouses, who have arduously cultivated for centuries to achieve your current Cultivation.”

”Why speak so lightly of death?”

”But...” the Poison Emperor and the others began remorsefully, attempting to say something.

Xiao Yi looked towards the Divine Martial King, ”I beseech the Divine Martial King to show leniency.”

”This...” The Poison Emperor and the others were stunned, not expecting Xiao Yi to plead on their behalf.

The Divine Martial King frowned.

At his side, another Hall Master spoke, ”Divine Martial King, as Sword Sect’s Genius Xiao Yi is ultimately your successor, perhaps you should consider his suggestion.”

”Moreover, the twins’ role in this Beast Tide was instrumental.”

”They are more entitled than any of us to judge the matters concerning the Poison Emperor and the others.”

Upon hearing this, the Divine Martial King pondered for a moment and nodded.

”Very well,” the Divine Martial King looked sternly at the Poison Emperor and the others, ”Since Xiao Yi has spoken for you, I will spare your lives.”

”However, though the death penalty is lifted, you cannot escape the punishment of life.”

”From this day forth, your positions as Commanders, leaders, and Main Hall Masters are revoked with immediate effect.”

”For the rest of your days, you shall reside beyond the Endless Black Sea.”

”Do you accept this?”

”We accept,” they said, bowing deeply in unison.

”For the rest of our lives, we shall stand guard outside the fortresses; we shall never set foot in a fortress again nor stray half a step from the Endless Black Sea.”

”Mhm,” the Divine Martial King nodded, ”You may leave on your own.”

”Yes,” the Poison Emperor and others paid their respects to the Divine Martial King and the Hall Master.

Then, they looked at Xiao Yi with grateful expressions.

Had it not been for Xiao Yi’s plea, they would already be dead.

Compared to death, perhaps spending a lifetime in isolation outside the Black Sea, contributing a bit more to the fortress defense, would better wash away the guilt and self-blame in their hearts.

The Poison Emperor and his party left.

But the meeting was not over yet.

The Divine Martial King glanced at Xiao Yi and then turned to Emperor Yee, speaking with authority, ”Bring them up.”

Emperor Yee rose and left, returning shortly after.

Behind him, he brought two people.

It was the Flame Martial King and Bai Mohan.

”Hmm?” Xiao Yi’s eyes narrowed, his eyes filled with an uncontrollable murderous intent.

Everyone present, from the Divine Martial King and Hall Master to all the Great Commanders and leaders, felt this earth-shattering murderous aura.

The Divine Martial King frowned and looked at the Flame Martial King and his companion, ”Do you admit your guilt?”

”We do,” the Flame Martial King nodded.

”I do not,” Bai Mohan shook his head.

”Ridiculous,” the Divine Martial King’s face turned cold, ”Even now, you don’t admit your guilt?”

”I truly do not know what crime the Divine Martial King wants to charge me with,” Bai Mohan said, puffing out his chest, looking directly at everyone present.

”The poison, it was laid by the Poison Emperor, the scheme was devised jointly by the Heavenly Gold Hall Master and the Golden Emperor.”

”The Heavenly Gold Hall Master and the Golden Emperor, these two cunning individuals, are already dead.”

”The Poison Emperor and the others have also been punished.”

”As for me,” Bai Mohan said with a light laugh, ”At most, I took the Palace Master Token only.”

”The Main Hall Token is an object left from ancient times, though it is in the custody of the Hall Master, it does not belong to the Hall Master.”

”I took it, if it is a crime, it’s not a major one.”

”You dare to argue,” the Hall Master’s eyes turned cold.

”As far as I know, during the banquet that day, it was the Flame Martial King who arranged the seats on behalf of the Flame Martial Fortress.”

”Only thus was the Poison Emperor able to poison the food and drinks easily; and the food and drinks laced with deadly poison were precisely segregated.”

”Hmph,” Bai Mohan let out a cold laugh, ”That should be the crime of the King, not mine.”

”You...” the Flame Martial King frowned at Bai Mohan.

Bai Mohan sneered, ”Since the King aided the Heavenly Gold Hall Master and others in poisoning, he should be punished.”

”And I, unaware of it, only knew to take the Hall Master Token.”

”If the Divine Martial King and the Hall Master wish to prosecute my crime, then follow the fortress’s laws.”

”If I’m not wrong, such a minor crime, at most results in expulsion from the fortress, and I will leave now.”

”Of course,” Bai Mohan scoffed sarcastically, ”If you two seniors insist on abusing private punishment and sentencing randomly...”

”In the Sixteen Flame Dragon Countries, I, Bai Mohan, am a Heavenly Talent with no small reputation.”

”If this were to get out, I’m afraid the East Sea Fortress would be a laughing stock; and the reputation of the two seniors, known for their impeccable integrity, might also be tarnished in their twilight years.”

”That would then be my fault.”

”You... How dare you,” the Divine Martial King became furiously angry, looking like he was about to strike.

Xiao Yi calmly stood up and said, ”Senior Divine Martial King, please calm down.”

”Leave these two to me to handle.”

”Hmm?” The Divine Martial King looked at Xiao Yi with puzzlement.

Xiao Yi spoke solemnly, ”It’s time to settle the debt between us.”

”The vengeance of my master, should also be addressed.”

”Grandpa Xuan, this mustn’t be.” The Flame Martial King turned pale with fear, ”If we fall into Xiao Yi’s hands, we are sure to die.”

”How is it, Divine Martial King, are you going to ignore the fortress’s laws?” Bai Mohan’s face also showed panic.

”Ignore the law?” Emperor Yee sneered.

”Bai Mohan, is it? Although I have not left the fortress for many years, the affairs you caused in the Flame Martial Kingdom and the reports from the Rock Family branch have not been few.”

”Crafting the Blood Intent Pill, slaughtering Martial Artists, these crimes aren’t difficult to uncover.”

”Furthermore, with the authority of the twins today, not to mention ignoring the law, even if they were to revise all the laws of the East Sea Fortress, the millions of strong within the fortress would not have any objection.”

”You...” Bai Mohan’s face turned pale.

The Divine Martial King looked at Xiao Yi, ”Then let’s do as you say.”

”First, take these two away and let them await Xiao Yi’s disposition at a later date.”

”Yes,” Emperor Yee answered and took the two men away.
