Daily Intelligence System: Don't Kill Me, Honey!

Chapter 1335: Chapter 309: Invincible Posture, Chen Jiu Challenges the Mountain Descending Tiger with Four Spears

”Kill!”

The shouts of battle reverberated like thunder, and at this moment, the Gray Wolf Army charged down the hillside furiously, beginning an assault on the Left Army in front of them.

Chen Jie was observing everything from the center, watching the enemy charging down from a high ground.

Chen Jie ordered, ”Change formation, Single Line Formation, Python shape!”

This was a variation of the Single Line Formation, where shield bearers stood outside, forming the scales of a giant python.

Establishing an Absolute Defense, loose inside, due to the narrow gorge, the advantage of the python formation was that the outer layer was stationary while the inside was mobile.

In other words, the outer shield bearers formed the outer shell, allowing soldiers within to move back and forth, ensuring rapid support inside.

With the snake formation moving, it was like a giant python striking, its attacks sharp, with long spearmen hidden inside like the fangs of the python.

Should one get entangled by this python formation, both sides would close in, akin to a giant serpent biting, and once bitten, there’s no escape from death or severe injury.

Moreover, the interior of the python was interconnected, attack the head and soldiers from the tail would come for support, attack the tail and soldiers from the head would come to aid, complementing each other, forming a formidable whole.

At this moment, under the command of their leader, Gu Ge, a Mountain Descending Tiger, the Gray Wolf Army attacked Chen Jie’s Left Army like ferocious tigers descending from the mountain.

Chen Jie was at the center of the formation, with Jin Yanzi standing behind him, in full armor, holding the army flag.

”Gang Leader, the enemy is attacking.”

Chen Jie ordered, ”Contract!”

With one command, the formation immediately contracted, quickly forming a shell of shield soldiers on the outside, making the entire formation very compact.

It was as if a giant snake had contracted, ready to strike at any moment.

The Gray Wolf Army did not take Chen Jie’s Left Army seriously, as they were too familiar with the nature of Monk Peng’s troops. It wasn’t their first encounter, and for these former Maitreya Cult members, they could be said to completely lack understanding of military strategy.

According to King Qi, Zhao Pusheng fancied himself as capable in both literature and martial arts, but he was actually mediocre in strategy and even worse in writing. Even his saber technique barely caught King Qi’s eye.

But King Qi was renowned for his saber technique, known as the Sword God, and in his eyes, Zhao Pusheng’s saber skills were nothing but an amateur display, not worth mentioning.

The type of general dictates the type of soldiers. King Qi looked down on Peng Yingyu’s men, so these people also didn’t regard Peng Yingyu and his troops seriously, treating Chen Jie’s Left Army as experience fodder for gaining military merits.

Thus, with a command, these Gray Wolf soldiers howled as they charged, disregarding military strategy or formations.

All vying to rush down to kill, as the severed heads of the enemy could be traded for military merits, with promotions and wealth hinging upon it.

Truly like tigers descending the mountain.

Witnessing this scene, Chen Jie’s gaze sharpened, and he swiftly waved the flag again, instructing his soldiers to prepare their defense, while also transferring soldiers from the tail to the head of the snake, ensuring the snake head’s offensive power.

At this moment, the Gray Wolf Army charged directly at the head of Chen Jie’s snake formation.

”Kill!”

They charged straight at Chen Jie’s snake head. Seeing this, Chen Jie commanded, ”Lure!”

Upon hearing this, Jin Yanzi immediately signaled with flag language, and seeing this, Zeng Aniu at the head of the formation said, ”Retreat!”

Instantly, the formation made space, but the shield soldiers on both sides didn’t retreat, forming an H-shape inside the Single Line Formation, and the Gray Wolf Army, following the open top of the H-shape, delved deep inside.

They swung their blades at the surrounding shield soldiers, but these shield soldiers were armored, wielding heavy shields the size of doors. The thin blades of the Gray Wolf Army clashed against the shields, sparking flames, yet having no effect.

The Gray Wolf Army quickly realized something was wrong, and the leading soldiers wanted to retreat. But it was too late as the soldiers behind had pushed forward, causing a deeper entrenchment.

Seeing this, Chen Jie waved his hand and ordered, ”Kill!”

With the command, the retreating Left Army soldiers halted, and the giant shield soldiers blocked the path ahead.

Ha!

Shield upon shield joined together, forming a wall of steel. The Gray Wolf soldiers arrived at the front but were blocked by this steel wall. The Gray Wolf soldiers swung their Mulan Clan scimitars at the steel-forged shields, causing sparks to fly but to no avail.

Seeing this, the Gray Wolf soldiers became anxious but were helpless. They tried kicking forward but as soon as they raised their legs, long spears suddenly thrust out from the giant shields like King Yan demanding lives, and one thrust turned the foremost Gray Wolf soldiers into a beehive.

Screams of agony erupted, the dead fell.

But it didn’t end there. The military shield soldiers stepped forward with their shields, advancing against the Gray Wolf soldiers, with the long spears trained perfectly.

Every spear thrust pierced a Gray Wolf soldier.

The Gray Wolf soldiers fell like wheat being harvested, row after row, falling en masse, resulting in countless fatalities and injuries, a truly tragic sight.
