Chapter 140: Chapter 106 Husband, today I’m truly, truly very happy_5

That was also after he became a disciple of Doctor Bai.

And such a copy of Grand Ancestor Long Fist, could sell for five silver taels in the Black Market of secret martial arts manuals.

And what does five silver taels mean to a farming family?

That is nearly two years’ income for a household; would they be willing to buy a secret manual for their child?

With that money, they would rather sell some grain to stave off their family’s hunger.

Some have asked why in the Martial World, only heroes can learn martial arts, and commoners cannot.

It’s simple!

They’re not qualified.

Ordinary people struggle just to eat, are busy farming, collecting grain, paying taxes, and even during slack farming periods, they have to work as laborers for wealthy households.

Which one of them has the time to practice martial arts?

Moreover, one of the prerequisites for practicing martial arts is that one must be well-fed, otherwise, it could harm the practitioner.

Then there is the difficulty of acquiring secret martial arts manuals.

The secret manuals in the Martial World are like books in the imperial examination world; they are generally monopolized. Even if low-level martial arts can be taught to outsiders, they come at a steep price.

The cheapest martial arts manual costs five silver taels. Isn’t that expensive?

But for the average commoner, they can’t even afford one tael of silver. Where would they find five spare taels to buy a secret martial arts manual?

This society’s distribution of wealth determines that some people can become superior to others, while some have to toil their entire lives.

Is it because those who toil are not working hard?

No, it’s that they’ve worked too hard and don’t even have the time to stop and think if what they’re doing is right.

Everyone knows the saying ”No wealth without investment, no fat horse without night grazing,” but who knows the next line: ”Investment without wealth is a poor fate, night grazing without fattening is a toiling horse!”

It’s exceedingly difficult for those at the bottom to change their destiny against all odds.

Chen Jie’s success can be attributed to his opportunities and his information system.

Even his transmigrator status couldn’t help much; this world’s restrictions on the lower classes are even more terrifying than in his former life.

Chen Jie had made it out of the mire; he wanted to help those still struggling in it, the youths who still had dreams.

And if they succeeded, they would become a strength for him in the future.

In essence, Chen Jie was investing in talent reserves.

He taught these dream-filled youngsters Grand Ancestor Long Fist; he didn’t teach them martial arts that were too profound.

At this stage, Grand Ancestor Long Fist was sufficient for them.

Chen Jie felt that if someone managed to reach the Skin Buff Realm within two or three years and found him, it would show talent, and then he would increase their training so he could cultivate his own direct lineage.

He also told them that if they met someone with good talent, they could teach them the Fist as well.

If they could help cultivate three martial artists in the Skin Buff Realm, even if they themselves lacked martial arts talents, Chen Jie would find a job for them at the fishery.

From then on, the fishery would take care of them!

This mechanism, currently unassuming, would in the future provide Chen Jie with a series of direct followers.

Fifteen people might not cultivate one or two qualified martial artists, but as long as they are willing to promote it and teach the Fist, they could bring more talented individuals to Chen Jie.

And their disciples would also teach, perpetuating the cycle.

Based on the chances of one in fifteen, what if the number was expanded to fifty, a hundred fifty, or fifteen hundred people?

Those from later generations would understand this technique; it’s remarkably effective.

This is the so-called person-to-person phenomenon.

Chen Jie has sown the seeds and hopes to grow the flowers he desires.

And so, Chen Jie spent the afternoon teaching the Fist; everyone was very diligent. This was their chance to defy fate, who would slack off at a time like this?

Bear in mind, this lesson is worth at least five silver taels.

Moreover, having a Refining Body Realm expert personally directing the class made it even more valuable.

Only a fool would fail to seize such an opportunity; such chances are incredibly rare, and no one would be unmoved.

Chen Jie taught them earnestly. He knew that while they might not become key talents under his guidance in the future, they could very well become the cradle for future talents.

As long as they laid a solid foundation, in the future, they could cultivate talents for him.

This is part of a grand scheme for talent development, and all Chen Jie had invested was Grand Ancestor Long Fist.

The reason Grand Ancestor Long Fist could sell for five silver taels is, in fact, due to human greed: if one person is willing to spend five silver taels for a manual, and then the whole village shares it, no one would mind.

But who would be foolish enough to spend their own money for others to enjoy?

Human selfishness prevents this martial art from being widely propagated, although there are exceptions like insightful clans that buy manuals to train their descendants, which is more cost-effective.

The way Chen Jie teaches is still very rare.

The training lasted until the evening, and as Chen Jie was about to dismiss everyone.

Su Yunjin pulled Chen Jie aside.

”Jiu Si, I’ve made food with the family’s salted meat and sorghum rice. Let’s have them stay for a meal.”

Chen Jie looked at Su Yunjin.

”Do you understand what I’m trying to do?”

Su Yunjin smiled and said, ”Although I might not be completely correct, I understand a bit. In ancient times, Mengchang bestowed kindnesses upon the world, to be celebrated for millennia...”

”Today, what my husband is doing should be another form of ’nurturing scholars’!”

Su Yunjin said, smiling. Seeing her appreciate the depths of the strategy, Chen Jie couldn’t help but feel moved. It seemed his little young lady was no ordinary person either.
