The Versatile Master Artist

Chapter 665: Chapter 305: The Cat’s Shadow (Part 2)

“Can it be like this?”

The assistant watched the magical turn of events in amazement.

This was like other invited artists, who cautiously comforted and nurtured Jean Arnou’s son, trying every possible way to make up stories to make him happy, even carefully considering their tone of communication, fearing to upset him.

Then there was this Detective Cat lady.

She just rushed in, swinging reality as if it were a slap to the face.

And what happened…?

Did she really manage to wake up this foolish young master a bit?

He glanced sideways at Tony, who was crying nonstop and at the illustration master who was apologizing while showing a look of satisfaction, then looked at the curling tail on the burning screen.

The assistant’s jaw almost dropped to the floor.

“Could it be that this guy really got lucky this time and latched onto Jean Arnou’s thigh?”

He suddenly thought that sometimes life is absurd.

When led, you won’t go, but when beaten, you retreat.

A real masochist.

“Truly outstanding technique, bold conception, a creation that hits the soul by uniting all three aspects. No wonder this illustrator has gained fame despite the malicious bias and suppression of ‘Oil Painting’ magazine. New talents emerge with each generation, and the new generation of illustrators is far more excellent than I was at the same age.”

Jean Arnou looked at his sobbing son and sighed.

The assistant’s eyelid twitched again.

He was just exploding with anger, and now he’s already praising?

The more you get along.

The assistant knew that in the public’s eyes, Jean Arnou is the kind of artist who is low-key and modest like Van Gogh, only caring about creation.

In reality, the old man is quite smart and shrewd.

Unlike the assistant, who likes socializing and is good at dancing, but he has his own life wisdom.

Whether it’s the publisher or cooperative galleries, anyone who dares to treat the taciturn Jean Arnou as a socially clueless idiot and fool, will definitely suffer a big loss.

Let me give an example.

Don’t be swayed by Jean Arnou’s appearance as a benevolent elder who appreciates Detective Cat at the dining table; in reality, he is very measured in his speech.

Especially when it comes to the conflict between ‘Oil Painting’ magazine and Detective Cat.

Lady Anya, moved by the booth at the art fair, harshly criticized the magazine’s behavior, expressing Sir Brown’s disappointment.

And Jean Arnou, who started the conversation, just smiled there cheerfully.

The illustrator at most and lightly mentioned that he was not an expert and only felt that ‘Oil Painting’ might be biased, and that’s it.

The probability of private dinner conversations being gossiped about by Borges or Anya is almost nil.

But this is just the cautious character of the top artist.

What can be said, what cannot be said, saying it will offend and make enemies.

What can be done, and to what extent.

The old gentleman knew it all well!

To become the first in an industry, there are too many nuances.

He can appreciate Detective Cat, but without kinship, he is absolutely unwilling to offend ‘Oil Painting’ magazine for this.

Even the assistant can guarantee.

If it weren’t for Detective Cat being related to Jean Arnou’s son’s condition, the illustrator wouldn’t have wanted to have any association with such a controversial name at all.

Even though Borges appeared to swear he would trample Detective Cat underfoot.

Among the three artists on the ranch, from the bottom of their hearts, the most aloof, most politically astute and smooth.

If not necessary, the one who most wanted to maintain a respectful distance with Detective Cat.

It would probably have to be this old gentleman, Jean Arnou.

The remark “the malicious bias and suppression of ‘Oil Painting’ magazine,” though likely just a slip of the tongue in excitement.

It probably also reflects a very subtle change in emotion.

“Alas, it seems I was too hasty back then. After today, it appears I really need to respect for Detective Cat in my mindset.” The assistant pondered the illustrator’s mindset in private, sighing softly.

“Alas, it seems taking Tony to the pet hospital for euthanasia was unnecessary, and spending that much might be less effective than having a small grave in the yard to bury Amy.”

The illustrator also sighed at the same time.

It was just over the top, had he not intended to protect his son, letting Tony face reality earlier, he wouldn’t be living in a false fantasy.

“At least one thing, he probably won’t be crying and clamoring for Amy anymore.”

“That’s also hard to say, choosing to escape is a conservative therapy, directly facing is like cutting the bone to cure the poison.” Dr. Jin watched the cat in the crematorium on the screen, sighing lightly, “Showing such a naked scene to Tony in his teenage winter, this child might not be able to bear it.”

“In the end, we still have to thank you, doctor. Before you, none of Tony’s psychologists probably understood this truth, but they never had the responsibility and courage to try letting him face reality.” Jean Arnou earnestly praised, “Whether it was the suggestion to invite the painting knife painter, or supporting the creation process of this painting, you are the most responsible doctor among all these people.”

“Thank you for my approval and support?”

Dr. Jin stared at the painting absentmindedly, not falsely disclaiming.

Having taken on the risk, naturally, one should reap the benefits.

“The one who should be thanked more is probably the mysterious Mr. Tree Sloth.”

The face of that middle-aged man, who inexplicably convinced him, speaking with both the eloquence of an ancient Greek philosopher and the Zen wisdom of an old monastic lecturer, appeared in Dr. Jin’s mind again.

Some people are truly naturally suited for speeches, brimming with charisma.

The audience knows they might be fooled, yet they still bravely follow his arrangement.

What kind of family education can cultivate such individuals, those kings, legislators, and generals who made a huge impact in history.

Probably much like this?

Dr. Jin even specially searched for the name Mr. Folivora on Google, curious to see who he might be.

The result only led to an arts salon audio program on Apple Podcasts.

Quite amusing if you think about it.

Besides daily consultation services, a professional ethic for excellent psychologists includes not having too much direct personal contact with employers and clients in human relationships.

Dr. Jin Anqing had been employed by the world’s most famous illustration artist, serving as a long-term doctor for several years, personally not very keen on art, quite an art layman.

This time, however, he couldn’t resist adding the podcast to his listening list.

Recently, while driving at night, the CARPLAY audio in the car replaced the usual rock music with Mr. Tree Sloth’s art salon programs.

“Art indeed has power, let’s continue to finish looking at the last few paintings. I only know a simple creative direction, and now I’m very curious about the story the painter will tell us after brutally tearing open reality.”

After the bone-cutting treatment, the bleeding wound always needs to be stitched closed again.

Dr. Jin was already prepared to take over, but he still wanted to know whether Detective Cat, with just the remaining few paintings, could stitch up the wound in Tony’s heart?

“I’m also curious. I’ve always believed that I’m the world’s best fairy tale artist who tells warm stories.” Jean Arnou wiped a bit of snot from his son’s collar, “Now, I just hope that this claim is not true, and Detective Cat should be the best of today.”

The assistant switched the file on the iPad.

So,

they saw the surging flow of colors.

Out of everyone’s expectations.

The last few drafts by Detective Cat were not, as Professor Borges predicted, works derived from fictional imagination in her mind.

Or rather, within Detective Cat’s collection of drafts, only the one named ‘Corpse Burning Furnace’ is a fictional piece.

After the boiling flames, Detective Cat returned to creation based on real photo themes.

It was a photo taken a year after Amy’s death, when Tony was taken to the Alps in Europe by Jean Arnou for a change of scene.

If there was any difference, it was that the light and brightness in her picture began to distort, transitioning from a realistic style to the decoration design of the Rococo style.

The picture was carved with an oil painting knife into a delicate, gorgeous, intricate, and exquisite artistic style.

Even the light formed S-shaped spiral curves under Detective Cat’s control…

In the sunset, the orange light refracted,

forming a cat’s shadow at Tony’s feet.
