The Versatile Master Artist

Host Mr. Tree Sloth, Curator Tangkis, Detective Cat, whether they are excellent or not, among the three of them, only Detective Cat can be called a painter.

The title isn’t the painting light and shadow world from the perspective of an art critic or curator, but from the perspective of a painter?

As the assistant pressed play,

amidst a gentle violin background music, Mr. Tree Sloth’s voice quickly emerged.

”Hello everyone...”

Van Doorn snatched the phone from the female assistant and quickly dragged the timeline forward a bit.

Then he heard a female voice, which most likely belonged to Detective Cat, saying.

”... The painter suggests a biting cold winter day with irregular shapes and sharp strokes. We can see in the upper-middle part of the painting, the dry brush technique was skillfully used to create a foggy effect. I guess a bit of olive green was added to the paint mix here, with the relatively rough fan-shaped edge of a round-headed brush, restoring the sparse texture of branches and undergrowth reflected on the lake surface...”

What the fuck,

Upon hearing the first earful, Van Doorn subconsciously cursed in his heart.

He didn’t download the electronic album from the podcast, didn’t know which painting Detective Cat was talking about, and saw no need to.

Evaluating a zither master only requires a few complex chords.

To understand a person’s artistic education, just listening to a few pieces of conversation gives a general idea. You can’t expect ivory from a dog’s mouth.

As soon as the other party opened their mouth,

Van Doorn knew that being able to dissect an oil painting to this extent, Detective Cat was quite professional.

Of course,

after all, Van Doorn hadn’t seen the painting yet, so Detective Cat could also just be pompously bluffing, but that would be self-deceiving.

Whether Mr. Nanguo is being pretentious, the other two guests aren’t fools either.

Quickly, Van Doorn heard Gu Weijing give the judgment that ”White Lake Baikal” was painted in the studio based on a photograph.

”Pretentious.”

The assistant barely managed to curve her lips into a smile.

To become Van Doorn’s assistant, even if she was just a pretty face, having been in the high-class art circle for so long, she was more professional than most ordinary people.

She also realized at this point that Detective Cat indeed did not sound like an amateur.

More than just not an amateur.

For an online illustrator, her skill level was excessively high.

Those complex color mixes and paint glazing on the oil painting were neatly analyzed by Detective Cat, as if she was watching the painter paint in person.

But even so,

the assistant still didn’t believe anyone could analyze the painter’s painting environment just by looking at an oil painting.

”Who does she think she is, a mind-reading witch?”

The assistant noticed Van Doorn’s left fingers turning white, clutching the phone screen tightly, and her gaze fell on the phone, where there was a not-so-long reader comment under the podcast.

”I am Tom Remond, owner of the German Remond Gallery, and the creator of the oil painting ’White Lake Baikal’. Detective Cat Teacher’s commentary is quite professional, which benefited me greatly, thank you Mr. Tree Sloth, thank you Detective Cat Teacher. By the way, the original of this painting is a photographic image in issue 206, page 53 of ’Polar Geography’ magazine, which I’ve always found very beautiful.”

”Is this... fake?”

The assistant covered her mouth.
