The Versatile Master Artist

”Koukou, even Mona said she doesn’t have a boyfriend.” The round-faced girl beside Koukou, with an affectionate expression, blew a big bubble.

Koukou is a girl who loves to get close to pretty girls, gossip and stick together.

Anyway, you often see her paired with those girls.

During her high school years, she went through at least three or four boyfriends, along with twice as many girl pals who shared all sorts of campus gossip.

She’s quick-witted and very personable.

She could always get along well and warmly with most people, whether they were boys or girls.

In this regard, she’s more popular among classmates than Miss Mona.

This round-faced girl with a silver nose ring looked like Koukou’s current ”new flame” in quotes.

”Tch, still too naive.”

Koukou smiled and pinched her girlfriend’s cheek.

As a high-level player in the field of romance, a little gossip queen, Koukou was ready to catch on to Mona’s subtle facial expressions thanks to her naturally sharp intuition among pretty girls.

This student council president surely still had feelings for Gu Weijing.

...

The event at the opening ceremony was just a small episode amidst the noise.

The students’ lives, however, were anything but idle.

For the students in the graduating class of the art program, the school basically no longer had fixed courses, and the cultural subjects were already over.

The portfolio became the sole theme of life.

A standard portfolio generally needs to include more than thirty mature works including life drawing, creative works, and free-topic works, in order to fully showcase one’s artistic character and painting skills to the admissions teachers.

There were only a little over three months left until the admissions conference at the end of May.

On average, at least ten pieces need to be completed each month.

Everyone was basically busy as a dog.

The public studios in the school often stayed open until nine or ten in the evening.

Gu Weijing, not planning to create a traditional portfolio, was not influenced by the fervent atmosphere in the school when school was over.

He took a cab straight to the Good Fortune Orphanage.

Now, Gu Weijing was quite familiar with the staff in the orphanage.

He would come every week.

After discussing a few things with the female director of the orphanage, a room was cleared out to serve as his studio.

Gu Weijing felt this was much better than the studios at the school or at home.

He always remembered that there was one final step to complete in his professional task.

[Serial Task: Initial Glimpse - The Path of the Profession (Final Task)]

[Current Task: Complete a work of any theme measuring over 8 inches, and achieve an emotion rating of Heartfelt or above.]

[Ultimate Reward for Serial Task: One Random Legendary Skill]

A classic quote from Qing Dynasty poet Zhao Yi echoed, ”When the country suffers, poets thrive, transforming sorrows into sophisticated verses.”

Whenever Gu Weijing entered the Good Fortune Orphanage, his emotions were often moved by the various human tragedies he encountered.

The realist painters of the late Tsarist Russia believed that depicting simple realities had more depth than portraying illusionary classical myths, great heroes, romantic literary legends, and the ethereal allure of foreign lands.

The dark side of society is the best teacher for artists.

This statement makes a lot of sense.

As Gu Weijing understood more about the lives of those unfortunate children, whenever he was able to change their living conditions bit by bit through his efforts,

he found it easier to inject his emotions into his works.

Gu Weijing felt that

the distance from creating a painting that met the task requirements was only a thin layer of parchment away.
