The Versatile Master Artist

If it were Gu Weijing, she might hesitate a bit.

As for others, Mona is already very skilled at handling them.

Shh... A huge sigh of disappointment emanated from the auditorium.

”So Miss Sande Nu... you don’t have a boyfriend, right?”

Jerry wasn’t discouraged.

Mona looked up in Gu Weijing’s direction and saw that he finally stopped playing on his tablet and was looking at her.

”Finally realizing the urgency now?”

Miss Mona sneered internally, turned her head, and bit her silver tooth, saying, ”No.”

Jerry immediately handed the bouquet in his hand to Mona.

”Then after the recruitment fair, can I date you? Just as a prior agreement, I really like you.”

Boom!

The previously quiet auditorium once again became noisy.

Several girls thought this boy’s response was polite and courteous, adding to his appeal.

”How do you know you can get into the same university as me?”

Mona retorted.

”Whatever university you attend, I will apply to that university.” Jerry responded very straightforwardly, seemingly sincere.

His tone suddenly became somewhat sly: ”Besides, our school has a tradition... Miss Sande Nu shouldn’t be unfamiliar with it.”

Tradition?

Some freshmen who just enrolled didn’t understand the school’s tradition, and immediately someone explained the campus culture at their ears.

There is a rule in campus called King and Queen (King&Queen).

This isn’t unique to Fitz International Middle School; many historically rich private middle schools and universities in Europe and America have them. Every year they select a King and Queen within the school.

The specific selection process varies by school.

For example, at the University of Utah, the King is whoever leads the team to defeat their city rival Brigham Young University’s rugby captain, while the Queen is annually voted by students online as the most popular girl. Some schools of science and engineering might select the top student in a physics course or a calculus competition as King or Queen.

The King and Queen enjoy certain small privileges on campus, such as free lunch and the sunniest seats in the cafeteria.

At Trinity College, University of Cambridge, the King can choose the dorm room where Sir Newton once lived; legend has it that the apple tree in the yard is the one that once dropped an apple on Old Sir Newton’s head.

There is also one nearly universal privilege in all schools.

When you become the King or Queen of the school, the first boy or girl you pursue cannot be said No as per custom.

On today’s internet, people like to refer to the most sensational acts as obtaining priority choosing rights.

These age-old campus traditions are the same principle.

Of course, it’s just campus culture.

The willingness to comply depends on the other party’s willingness, and inviting someone who already has a clear partner is obviously shameless.

At Gu Weijing’s school, a blend of European and American campus culture and Asian traditions, the selection criteria imply a touch of ”a talent for boys and beauty for girls.”

Each year, the boy who can secure the most offers with his portfolio at the recruitment fair is elected as that year’s campus King.

The girl Queen is the girl most popular at the campus dance party.

Becoming the campus King isn’t easy.

The universities that Fitz International School cooperates with total twenty-six, with world rankings of Art Academies ranging from thirtieth to two, three hundred.

Differing from the admission model with clearly defined score lines, portfolios involve subjective judgment factors. Art Academies each have their characteristics, with their unique preferences and tastes in visual arts.

It’s possible that due to style reasons, you are accepted by a school ranked 150, but rejected by a university ranked 200.

Getting two or three offers at the recruitment fair is considered very good.

Typically, students would specifically prepare their portfolios targeting one school.

Unless very outstanding students with portfolios recognized as excellent, professors who like various styles can readily see you as a promising art student, thus securing offers from multiple universities.

The highest record in history was a senior who obtained offers from eight schools with a 140-page portfolio prepared all year.

I heard that senior is now a contracted artist of the famous French gallery Yvon, selling a painting for over ten thousand US Dollars, officially stepping onto the path of becoming a professional painter.

”How about this, I give you this opportunity.”

Mona glanced towards Gu Weijing once more, suddenly accepting the flowers from Jerry’s hand.

”I like persistent and serious people. If you want to impress me, fine. If you secure the most offers at the recruitment fair, I will agree to date you.”

”This invitation is valid for all the boys.”

She drew a flower from the bouquet and pinned it to the collar of her school uniform jacket, then like a little queen crowning her subjects, she tossed the rest of the bouquet towards the auditorium’s senior section.

Such explosive scene,

Quite a few boys were thrilled, even many girls thought Mona looked very cool.

Many classmates stood up from their seats, trying to capture the flying petals.

”Hey, what did you do to make your girlfriend upset?”

Koukou, chewing bubble gum, turned her head from the front row of seats, curiously gazing at Gu Weijing.
