Apocalypse: King of Zombies

”Mmm~~~ gotta say, that’s actually a damn good idea...” Nyssara nodded slightly, clearly pleased.

No doubt about it—Abyssion lived up to his reputation. The guy had real skills. No wonder the top brass in Heartland were backing him to become the Overlord of Frostmere.

”No time to waste. Let’s move out—fast. If that Wraithshade even gets a drop of Clearwater Lake on him, it’s on us for screwing up,” Nyssara said sharply.

Abyssion was just as anxious. He knew they had to act fast, so he didn’t hesitate any longer. His voice rang out with cold authority.

”Move out!”

Instantly, a deafening roar erupted from the heart of the zombie nest. A million undead surged to life, like a horde of killing machines suddenly switched on.

They moved with terrifying agility—some scaling walls, others crawling like insects—as they poured out of the nest.

From above, it looked like a black tidal wave flooding out across the land, spreading fast and wide.

The sheer malice radiating from the horde twisted the air above them into swirling black clouds, like demons clawing their way out of the sky.

...

Meanwhile, chaos still reigned on the other side. A massive number of zombies had been infected by parasitic bugs. One passed it to ten, ten to a hundred—it was spiraling out of control.

With Bloodleech’s abilities, and no high-tier Zombie King around to counter him, he could easily wipe out the entire nest.

But the Zombie Kings who had come to restore order? They were now under Wraithshade’s mental control—turned against their own, slaughtering fellow zombies without hesitation.

If energy consumption wasn’t a concern, Wraithshade and Bloodleech could keep this massacre going indefinitely.

”Wraithshade, this takes me back to the good old days!” Bloodleech’s eyes gleamed with manic excitement, his voice trembling with madness.

”Yeah,” Wraithshade murmured, his gaze distant. Back when they first awakened their powers, this was exactly how they rose—working in perfect sync, tearing through everything in their path.

Nearby, Hexarm stood guard, ever-vigilant. As a close-combat specialist, he stayed close to the two, knowing full well that while Wraithshade and Bloodleech packed a punch, their physical defenses were paper-thin. A sneak attack could end them in seconds.

Up on a distant ridge, Ethan watched silently.

That trio of zombies... they weren’t just lucky. They had real bite.

Their rise to power wasn’t some fluke.

But just then, something shifted in the sky. A dark cloud rolled in from the horizon, blotting out the sun. And from the shadows beneath it, wave after wave of zombies began to emerge.

They screamed like lunatics, sprinting on all fours, faster than Olympic sprinters.

In the blink of an eye, the Zombie Horde had flooded the hills—thousands upon thousands of them, and most weren’t just fodder. These were elite.

”They’re here...” Ethan muttered.

”Damn, Frostmere’s got some serious resources. Their zombies are way more evolved than ours in Eastreach...” Bloodveil said, eyes wide as he took in the scene.

Ethan just raised an eyebrow. ”You think so?”

”Uh...” Bloodveil hesitated. ”Okay, maybe not that much better.”

...

Hexarm, still on high alert, was the first to spot the incoming horde. ”Wraithshade, we’ve got company. Prey’s arrived.”

”Perfect,” Wraithshade grinned, both heads baring their teeth. His eyes burned with anticipation. ”Time to catch up with an old friend.”

Ever since he’d gained sentience, his goal had been clear—take down Abyssion and claim the throne of Frostmere.

Now, that moment had finally come.

Wraithshade pulled back his psychic control, releasing the other Zombie Kings. He needed to conserve his strength—for the real fight.

Bloodleech, meanwhile, sent out a signal. The bug-infested zombies turned as one, charging toward the incoming horde.

The zombies that had been under siege suddenly found themselves breathing easier. And when they saw the black cloud rolling in, their faces lit up with hope.

”Look! Boss Abyssion’s here!”

”Hell yeah! Time to strike back!”

”This time... we’re gonna rip that two-headed freak Wraithshade to pieces!”

...

The zombies surged forward with renewed fury, their bloodlust palpable as they launched a full-scale counterattack.

Abyssion’s elite horde was the first to clash with the parasite-controlled undead. The frenzied, high-tier zombies tore through the infected like paper, ripping them apart in a brutal frenzy.

But a few weren’t so lucky—some of the parasites managed to burrow into their bodies.

Abyssion narrowed his eyes. He’d seen this trick before. One word came to mind: disgusting.

Without hesitation, he unleashed a wave of psychic energy, sweeping it across the battlefield toward the infected zones.

A piercing screech filled the air.

One by one, the parasite-ridden zombies collapsed like puppets with their strings cut. Inside them, the leeches writhed violently before bursting apart, crushed by an invisible force.

There were a lot of infected, sure—but compared to the million-strong horde Abyssion commanded, they were nothing. The tide quickly swallowed them up.

”Hmph. Child’s play,” Abyssion scoffed. With his power, countering Bloodleech’s tricks was no problem.

Wraithshade, the two-headed freak, saw what was happening and immediately moved to back up his brother. His psychic energy surged outward, colliding head-on with Abyssion’s.

The clash was like two blades meeting tip to tip—neither giving an inch, both trying to grind the other down.

The air around them seemed to freeze.

Psychic combat wasn’t like fists and claws—it was far more dangerous, far more lethal.

Abyssion’s aura flared, his presence growing heavier by the second. ”You dare come back, after I crushed you once already?”

”If the Zombie Kings from Heartland hadn’t interfered back then, you’d be the one rotting in the dirt!” Wraithshade’s psychic pressure spiked, his rage boiling over.

When old enemies meet, sparks fly.

The two Zombie Kings locked into another deadlock, their powers clashing in a silent, invisible war.

But there was no denying it—Wraithshade’s trio was at a disadvantage. Abyssion wasn’t just powerful; he had an entire army behind him. A million zombies crashing down like a tidal wave.

Still, Abyssion played it up, sneering with theatrical flair. ”Wraithshade, it’s over. You’re finished. This is where your story ends. Stop struggling and accept your fate.”

”The only corpse getting buried today... is yours!” Wraithshade snarled.

Just then, a wave of green began to ripple across the battlefield, spreading out over the ground like a living tide. Wherever it passed, thick vines erupted from the earth.

”Vine Domain!”

Sprout had entered the fight.

The trio had been burning through energy fast, barely holding the line against the overwhelming horde. Their situation was getting worse by the second.

But now, the battlefield shifted.

The vines surged up around Wraithshade and the others, forming a protective barrier. Then, like a crashing wave, they exploded outward.

Any zombie that got too close was either impaled on the spot or yanked into the air, their necks twisted until they snapped.

”Is that... an Absolute Domain?” Abyssion’s brow furrowed. He was genuinely surprised. The sheer destructive power of the move was insane. He’d never seen a Zombie King like this in Frostmere—had to be from another region.

So Wraithshade really did bring backup...

That only confirmed Abyssion’s suspicions. Still, he wasn’t worried. Not yet. His horde was massive, and they were still pushing forward.

”Hmph. So, Wraithshade, it wasn’t enough for you to come here and die—you had to drag someone else down with you.”

”Don’t be so sure who’s dying yet!” Wraithshade shot back.

No sooner had the words left his mouth than another figure dropped from the sky, slamming down right in the middle of the charging horde.

Both hands lit up with a crimson glow, and from his palms, blood-forged chains shot out—stretching over a hundred meters in an instant. With a single sweep, they sliced through the zombies around him, cutting them clean in half.

Bloodveil had arrived.

The moment he landed, the area around him turned into a kill zone. Corpses piled up in seconds, blood and guts splattering across the ground in a grotesque display.

Abyssion’s eyes narrowed. He recognized him instantly.

”So it really is him...”
