You call this a projection?

The Holy Grail War taking place in Romania was a very peculiar ”Great Holy Grail War,” in which a total of fourteen Masters and fourteen Servants participated.

Moreover, because the Yggdmillennia clan had long since rigged the system by ensuring all Master spots fell into the hands of their own family members, this Great Holy Grail War was divided into a factional battle between ”Red” and ”Black.”

The ”Black” faction represented by the Yggdmillennia clan, and the ”Red” faction represented by the Mage’s Association.

Therefore, it was perfectly normal for two Sabers to exist in this war.

Mordred, who had been summoned as the Saber of Red, naturally assumed that the Saber appearing before her was the ”Saber of Black” summoned by the Yggdmillennia clan. After all, given the legend of King Arthur and the fame of the holy sword, how could she be summoned as anything other than the Saber class?

Mordred, having never played Fate/Grand Order, cried out the name ”Saber of Black” with absolute certainty. Empowered by the Command Spell, she confidently swung her sword down at Saber with all her might.

Much like Saber’s own informational advantage, which allowed her to wage psychological warfare against Mordred, Mordred also possessed an informational advantage. Unlike other Servants who encounter Saber for the first time and find the holy sword—its true form hidden by the [Invisible Air]—deeply troublesome, Mordred was no stranger to its specific parameters. After all, she had been a Knight of the Round Table under Saber and had successfully rebelled against her.

Combined with her own innate, ancestral [Instinct: B], she could estimate the reach of the holy sword even without seeing it.

To such an extent that Mordred was actually succeeding in suppressing Saber!

”What’s wrong? What’s wrong!? Saber of Black, is that all you’ve got!?”

Despite being the one with the advantage, Mordred wore no expression of joy. Instead, she put on a look of disappointment, as if Saber had failed to live up to her expectations: ”The power of the King of Knights should absolutely be more than just this!”

To this, Saber replied sternly: ”Save those words for when you have truly defeated me, Sir Mordred.”

However, this could not change the fact that Saber was indeed currently on the back foot.

It wasn’t that the legendary bonus Mordred carried against Saber was truly that absurd. As the Servant who destroyed Britain and ended King Arthur’s reign, Mordred was like Diarmuid and Lancer-class Lancelot in the Fourth Holy Grail War. While Lancelot had higher numerical

stats, and while Diarmuid’s [Gae Dearg] was a hard counter to Lancelot’s [Knight of Owner], Lancelot—who also possessed [Arondight]—would still seem to have the stronger Noble Phantasm, even if he couldn’t fire its beam and was limited to melee combat due to his Berserker class. Furthermore, in terms of combat skill, Lancelot had elevated his swordsmanship into the skill [Eternal Arms Mastership: A+], a feat other Servants could not replicate. It was a comprehensive victory for Lancelot.

Yet, because the story of Diarmuid and Fionn was the prototype for the story of Lancelot and Arthur, the influence of that legend allowed Diarmuid—despite not seeming to have the advantage—to have a significant chance of victory when facing Lancelot.

The same was true for Mordred now.

However, the things truly putting Saber at a disadvantage were not just the limitations imposed by this legend. There was also...

”This is becoming a bit difficult.”

”Because the Holy Grail War that actually summoned Saber into this world has already ended, it is impossible for the Grail to provide Saber with magical energy. Consequently, Saber’s mana is entirely dependent on me.”

”Although the life force enhancement from the Ripple (Hamon) breathing, combined with the projection of the [Six Eyes] and the reversal of cursed techniques, allows me to carefully calculate and avoid wasting mana...”

Shirou Emiya, while thinking this to himself, simultaneously used the technique reversal he had activated early on. After merging the projected [Six Eyes] eyeballs into his own body as ornaments, he used the unique perspective granted by the [Six Eyes] to observe the magical connection between himself and Saber.

”But without the support of the Holy Grail, the mana supply for a Servant is undoubtedly a massive burden for any magus.”

”It’s fine when not fighting, but the consumption skyrockets the moment combat begins.”

”Saber has sensed this, which is why she is blocking Mordred’s attacks with the minimum amount of output possible.”

”But this protective approach of hers is, without a doubt, the wrong move at this moment.”

Even though Shirou held a different perspective on Saber’s fight, his face remained emotionless. Kairi Shishigou, who was watching Shirou while their respective Servants battled, could discern nothing from him.

’This Holy Grail War is not the ordinary one we have experienced before.

It is a 7-versus-7 factional battle, and we do not belong to either of those two factions.

In a normal Holy Grail War, one could interpret this as a tactic of not exposing too much power, but in this factional war...

The ’Black’ faction representing the Yggdmillennia clan and the ’Red’ faction representing the Mage’s Association will undoubtedly prioritize expelling us—the intruders—the moment they realize we are participants who crashed the party.

Just like what they did to Jeanne d’Arc, the Ruler, in the original story.

However, we do not possess the [God’s Resolution] that comes with the Ruler class, which would allow us to constrain or deter other Servants and their Masters with Command Spells...’
