Just a Useful Pawn in the Stain Sect

Chapter 611: Chapter 611: The Conditions for the Void Certificate

In the second year after Lü Yang entered the Celestial Mansion, the frenzy sparked by the Wuyou Talisman still showed no signs of stopping.

Two years ago, the exchange rate between the Wuyou Talisman and the Outer Dao Immortal Talisman was 1 to 5. Now, two years later, that rate had reached a staggering 1 to 482.

Almost five hundred times!

This exchange rate was enough to drive Cultivators who hadn’t bought in, or who had cashed out early, into a frenzy. It also prompted an increasing number of people to enter the market.

Then, a piece of news intensified the frenzy even further.

The Superiors from the Celestial Mansion Sixth Layer had entered the market. This was a place not even the Outer Dao Alliance could access, home only to Orthodox Immortal Monarchs, their Immortal Monarch Families, and their servants.

A large number of Orthodox Immortal Talismans flowed into the market to purchase Wuyou Talismans. This seal of approval from the upper echelons made everyone even more certain of the Wuyou Talisman’s value. People no longer saw it as merely an Immortal Talisman from an Outer Dao Immortal Monarch, but as something comparable to an Orthodox Immortal Talisman—a potential high-growth asset with even greater room for appreciation.

All of this was, of course, the work of Cyan Yang Immortal Monarch.

To this end, he contacted four other Immortal Monarchs he was friendly with. Together, they bought up Wuyou Talismans and manipulated public opinion, causing the bubble to expand even further.

500, 600, 700...

The ever-rising exchange rate and ever-increasing price further ignited the Cultivators’ passion. Countless people became convinced that the Wuyou Talisman’s value would rise forever.

Of course, there were also those who saw things clearly.

’The upper echelons are getting involved... This is a harvest.’

At the Outer Dao Alliance, Mountain Mover once again convened a high-level meeting. The seven Outer Dao True Monarchs gathered, a hubbub of discussion filling the room. ”Prepare yourselves,” he said. ”We sell immediately.”

”Alliance Leader, are we really selling?”

An Outer Dao True Monarch gritted his teeth. ”It’s been rising for two years straight. Even if there’s a chance it’ll fall, it shouldn’t drop for at least another month, right?”

”Shouldn’t we wait a little longer?”

”We can’t wait!”

Mountain Mover shook his head. ”We’re not part of the upper echelons. We don’t know what those Orthodox Immortal Monarchs are planning. We don’t have inside information. On what basis do you think you can speculate against them?”

”Sell now!”

”At least we’ve already made a lot in the past two years. If we sell it all now, we can buy back in when it crashes in the future. Then we can make another small profit when it recovers.”

As the Alliance Leader of the Outer Dao Alliance, Mountain Mover was no fool. When he was very young, the progenitor of his lineage had painstakingly taught him that as an Outer Dao True Monarch in a broken place like the Celestial Mansion, he shouldn’t waste time thinking about cultivation or Combat. Instead, he should focus all his energy on making Money.

”After all, you’re an Outer Dao True Monarch.”

”As long as you have that Position, mere Foundation Establishment and Qi Refining cultivators are yours for the taking. But against an Orthodox True Monarch, you’d definitely lose, even if you fought with your life on the line.”

”So what’s the point of trying so hard?”

”As for other Outer Dao True Monarchs like you, if you have more Money than him, rather than engaging him in Combat, isn’t it better to spend Money to hire an Orthodox Immortal Monarch to kill him?”

This was the true survival method for an Outer Dao True Monarch in the Celestial Mansion!

Thus, for a long time, Mountain Mover might have been trash at Combat, his Cultivation insufficient, and his foundation unstable, but when it came to profits and risks, his mind was always crystal clear.

”Listen to me! Sell all the Wuyou Talismans!”

Mountain Mover’s hardline decision made several Outer Dao True Monarchs frown. ”Shouldn’t we discuss this with Fellow Daoist Minghe first? Hear what he thinks?”

”Minghe? What could he possibly think?”

Mountain Mover gave a cold smile. ”Of course he’ll continue to hype up the Wuyou Talisman and refuse to let us sell. After all, the more valuable the Wuyou Talisman is, the more his assets are worth.”

”Don’t forget, he’s never been a member of the Outer Dao Alliance. He’s not on our side.”

”But it’s still rising...”

”No ’buts’!” As soon as the words fell, Mountain Mover slammed his hand down to finalize the decision. ”We’ll do as I say. Sell all the Wuyou Talismans held by the Alliance immediately.”

”Mountain Mover, you’ll regret this.”

”Gentlemen, I am the Alliance Leader!”

BANG!

...

Lü Yang, of course, knew nothing about the argument taking place within the Outer Dao Alliance. In fact, he hadn’t even spared much thought for the skyrocketing Wuyou Talisman.

At this moment, he was in the middle of something important.

「Inside the Banner of Righteous Teachings at the Zhengqi Dao Mountain Gate.」

Lü Yang and Progenitor Tingyou sat facing each other. While guiding his actions, Progenitor Tingyou whispered, ”Yes, right there... a little lighter. Don’t use too much force.”

”That’s right. You can go a little deeper here.”

”A little heavier is better here.”

”Right there! You’ve got it! You’ve got it!”

Under Progenitor Tingyou’s hands-on guidance, a multitude of concepts intertwined and stacked up before Lü Yang’s eyes, finally sketching out a vague shape.

But in the next second, with a soft CRACK...

The concepts collapsed. Illusionary Colors poured out like a flood from a broken dam, causing the nascent Profound Mysterious structure to disintegrate. Witnessing this, Lü Yang couldn’t help but frown.

’Still missing something.’

Lü Yang had not been idle these past two years.

With Progenitor Tingyou’s help, he had been experimenting with his idea regarding the ”Void Certificate,” and thanks to his world-shaking intellect, his gains had been considerable.

’The so-called Void Certificate is actually like weaving a net—weaving and combining different concepts together to ultimately form a completely new existence. However, the concepts easily conflict with one another. Finding complementary concepts is incredibly difficult, and formally weaving them requires heaven-piercing Cultivation.’

And that wasn’t even all of it.

’With my world-shaking intellect, I’ve spent two years and more or less solved these difficult problems. The problem is, it’s all like a castle in the air.’

The stacked concepts always collapsed.

No matter how many times he optimized it or revised the weaving plan, the result was always collapse. However, Lü Yang had some clues as to the reason.

’It’s most likely because I don’t have enough True Treasures... Just as a house needs several load-bearing pillars to stand, the Void Attainment Position also needs pillars. Perhaps those pillars are the True Treasures corresponding to the concepts. I only have one True Treasure right now, so I can’t support the Void Attainment Position.’

Furthermore, after lengthy experimentation, Lü Yang gradually developed an intuition.

’To achieve the Void Attainment Position, three True Treasures are probably not enough... Or rather, combining three True Treasures can, at most, only form a [Seeking Dao Immortal Technique].’

In Lü Yang’s view, the [Seeking Dao Immortal Technique] was a Lower Position to the Void Certificate.

To advance it further and reach the level of a Void Certificate, he had to increase the number of True Treasures... and that number, Lü Yang guessed, should be five.

’I need five True Treasures!’

’The Five Elements form Heaven and Earth, and five Abilities are needed for Perfection. The Void Certificate should be the same. It takes five True Treasures to support the framework of the Fruit Position!’

This was definitely not a coincidence.

In Lü Yang’s view, this was more like some deeper-level concept. The number five had corresponding manifestations in the Immortal Pivot, and even throughout the entire Outer Heaven Sea of Light.

’Unfortunately, it’s not as simple as devouring any Outer Dao Fruit Position to increase my Cultivation and refine True Treasures. I have to devour an Outer Dao that fits my own Fruit Position, like those from the Ten Thousand Martial Realm or the Profound Spirit Realm. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have to do anything at all. I could just swallow the few Outer Dao True Monarchs from the Outer Dao Alliance, run away, and have everything I need...’

Of course, nothing was absolute.

His idea that the Void Certificate required five True Treasures was just a guess. Although it was very reasonable, in cultivation, there are no small matters. Sometimes, the slightest deviation could lead to an error of a thousand miles.

’I should probably verify it.’

At this thought, a glint appeared in Lü Yang’s eyes. ’I’ve been away for two years; it’s about time I went back for a look... And it’s a good chance to find an experienced senior and ask a few questions.’

Although he was in the Celestial Mansion, Lü Yang’s heart was always with the Immortal Pivot.

And with his [Puppet] ability, even with the Boundless Void in the way, Lü Yang could cross the Outer Heaven Sea of Light and easily observe the happenings within the Immortal Pivot.

Thus, he knew very well what had happened since he left. The Old Dragon Monarch had intervened to protect the Righteous Qi Dao’s foundation in the West. Meanwhile, World Purger Fei Xue had built a straw hut in the South and was doggedly waiting for [True Monarch Gangxing]. These shifts in the situation had forced the three Bodhisattvas of the Pure Land to flee Overseas.

Two years had passed, and a new balance had been struck.

The storm Lü Yang had once stirred up had also gradually subsided.

’Although it would be better to ask World Purger Fei Xue about this sort of thing... someone from the Stain Sect... is unreliable. The Old Dragon Monarch, on the other hand, has no backing. He’s more worth talking to!’
