Just a Useful Pawn in the Stain Sect

Chapter 521: Chapter 521: Fight! Don’t Be a Coward

Golden light filled the sky as auspicious clouds billowed forth, showering down a vibrant rain. At last, a magnificent Pure Land materialized, with a great Buddha seated within.

DONG!

A melodious bell toll came from the deepest part of the Pure Land, yet only Lü Yang could hear it. Even Empress Xiao, who was lying right beside him, was completely unaware.

In a daze, he seemed to see the Cloud Sea Golden Buddha within the Pure Land, looking toward him from across an immeasurable distance. Its body was formed from a dense, endless multitude of Monks, who now all shared the same expression, performed the same action, and spoke with the same voice:

”Amitabha!”

The Buddha’s Name reverberated, striking Lü Yang’s head like a great hammer. Yet he stood his ground, his expression completely unwavering.

’The five-thousand-year taboo... It’s poisonous, but it’s also a truly great opportunity.’

Sometime after the last great calamity five thousand years ago, a period of at least three thousand years had mysteriously vanished from history, suspected to have been severed by the Bhagavat.

Why would the Bhagavat do that?

Where did the missing three thousand years go?

’The Bhagavat wouldn’t do something so laborious for no gain... An act of this magnitude must be crucial. It might even be connected to the secret of his Nascent Soul!’

If not, why would the Bhagavat be so wary of anyone who discovered this taboo?

This suggested that perhaps this taboo hadn’t truly touched upon the Bhagavat’s core secret, but it was, at the very least, a key clue to unlocking it.

Such knowledge was poison to a Foundation Establishment cultivator.

But to a Perfected Lord, it was an undeniable opportunity. After all, it concerned the Nascent Soul Path—a path so many Perfected Lords sought but could never find.

Thinking of this, Lü Yang considered another question:

’The taboo, the knowledge I just discovered... Ang Xiao clearly knew about it too, or he couldn’t have used it to set me up. So why is he fine?’

Ang Xiao’s true body was far away in the Netherworld, unable to interfere with the Current World.

A single wisp of his spiritual perception could, at best, cling to existence by relying on the Veil of the Trees, which was hardly enough power. If I couldn’t evade this backlash, how could he possibly have escaped it?

What was the difference between him and me?

And then there was Primal Daoist Mu Changsheng... a five-thousand-year-old taboo that even few Perfected Lords were likely aware of. How could he know about it?

In a flash, Lü Yang arrived at the answer:

’It’s... the Simulation Realm!’

’That’s it! It’s because of the Simulation Realm created by the Saint Sect Ancestral Master. One is probably immune to the influence of the forbidden knowledge while inside it!’

At this thought, Lü Yang had a sudden epiphany:

’Of course. Ang Xiao didn’t know about the forbidden knowledge from the start... Initially, he was just tricked by me into looking for Primal Daoist Mu Changsheng.’

’At most, he knew the Simulation Realm was special and might hide a great opportunity.’

’But after seeing Mu Changsheng, things changed.’

’He knew more secrets than I did. The very existence of Mu Changsheng allowed him to deduce the truth behind the five-thousand-year taboo!’

’Because he was in the Simulation Realm, the Bhagavat didn’t notice. But I’m different... I’m in the Current World. The moment I learned of the taboo, the Bhagavat immediately sensed it. As for Ang Xiao... if I’m not mistaken, that wisp of his Divine Sense is now just a shell of its former self.’

Now, Ang Xiao could only remain in the Simulation Realm.

The moment he left the Simulation Realm, the Bhagavat would sense him, and that wisp of his spiritual perception would undoubtedly perish. He could now be considered Mu Changsheng’s fellow inmate.

’This is truly...’

At this thought, Lü Yang couldn’t help but laugh. It might have looked like Ang Xiao had set him up again, but the situation was different depending on your point of view.

From Ang Xiao’s side, he was probably at his wit’s end.

After all, he had tried so hard, used every trick in the book, and even resorted to self-destructing in the end, but I just wouldn’t die, like a cockroach.

Even now, while this piece of forbidden knowledge was giving Lü Yang a headache, the solution was simple—just sever the related memories.

Ignorance is bliss.

The waters in this damn place were simply too deep. Sometimes, not knowing made it easier to succeed. The more you knew, the faster you tended to die.

With this thought, Lü Yang immediately operated his Divine Sense.

The next moment, the forbidden knowledge he had just deduced—the problem with the five-thousand-year timeline—vanished completely. A trace of confusion appeared in his eyes.

’What was I just thinking about?’

’No, I shouldn’t dig any deeper.’

Lü Yang abruptly stopped his divining fingers. Although he didn’t know what he had forgotten, the lingering sense of fortune and misfortune told him it was a good thing.

Looking into the distance, he saw that in the direction of the West, the magnificent Pure Land and the Cloud Sea Golden Buddha within it seemed to have changed. The Buddhist Destiny and karmic links that had settled upon Lü Yang gradually dimmed. Clearly, as long as Lü Yang didn’t delve into the taboo, he would be fine. However, in the very next second—

BOOM!

The Immortal Dao Law descended! A massive amount of knowledge flooded into Lü Yang’s mind, restoring the very memories he had just intentionally forgotten.

In an instant, everything fell deathly silent.

In the direction of the West, the smiling Cloud Sea Golden Buddha’s movements seemed to freeze for a moment, and the compassionate smile on its face stiffened for an instant.

”Holy shit!?”

Not even Lü Yang had expected this. His mouth fell slightly agape as he subconsciously looked at the Immortal Dao Law, only to find it shining with unprecedented brightness.

’This... Don’t tell me they’re about to fight!’

Lü Yang lowered his head, trying his best to keep a straight face so he wouldn’t laugh out loud. For the Immortal Dao Law to activate under these circumstances, there was only one possibility:

’The Master of the Dao Court!’

Lü Yang’s expression turned odd at this thought, yet it also felt perfectly natural. After all, if things continued this way, everyone would start thinking the Bhagavat was number one in the world!

At that moment, dark clouds inexplicably gathered over the entire East, blotting out the sky. Furious thunder rumbled, as if reflecting the thoughts of Heaven and Earth itself.

Meanwhile, in the direction of the West, the once magnificently splendid Pure Land fell into silence. The chanting ceased, and the Buddha Light seemed to congeal. Only the Cloud Sea Golden Buddha remained seated, its once compassionate and serene smile replaced by a Vajra’s wrathful glare, as if staring down some formless entity across the void.

’Is the Master of Dao here in person? No, that’s not quite right.’

Lü Yang had personally witnessed the Master of Dao descend upon the world before. At that time, the Bhagavat had truly cast his gaze down, and Lü Yang still vividly remembered the Mighty Power that made Heaven and Earth tremble.

This current display was far inferior.

’This doesn’t feel like the Master of Dao’s true self. It feels more like a shift in his mood, a single thought that has triggered a head-on confrontation between their two Dao Lineages...’

But there was no doubt that in the face of the Bhagavat raising the stakes, the Daoist Court Daoist Lord had shown His attitude:

Bring it. Don’t back down!

Lü Yang instantly straightened his back.

’I knew it. My cultivation of the Fruit of Celestial Fire in this life is actually a great thing for the Dao Court. The Daoist Court Daoist Lord should be happy to see it.’

Besides, the Dao Court had already had the Fruit of Rampart Earth snatched away by the Bhagavat once. Now he wanted to come and snatch the Fruit of Celestial Fire, too? No one would stand for that.

At this thought, Lü Yang’s eyes lit up.

At this moment, a bold idea formed in his mind:

’Since I have the Master of Dao backing me, and that Buddha’s Son isn’t the real Bhagavat, why not go for broke... directly assume the Fake Golden Position and go all-out against that damn Bhagavat?’
