Just a Useful Pawn in the Stain Sect

Chapter 289: Chapter 289: The Yun Family Sisters

’I’m not human this time?’

Lü Yang furrowed his brow as he observed Yun Miaozhen and Yun Miaqing, who were right in front of him. He scanned himself with his Divine Sense and quickly saw his current form.

He was a sword.

The blade was simple and ancient, engraved with numerous seal-script characters. However, they had no real meaning and seemed to be purely decorative. It even had jagged nicks and gaps.

Without a doubt, this was an ordinary Sword Embryo. Yet, this very Sword Embryo had instantly captured the attention of Yun Miaozhen and Yun Miaqing. Of course, this wasn’t due to some Spiritual Object concealing its own brilliance. The sword’s inherent Material and Divine Effect were unchanged. What truly made it different was—

’Me!’

Lü Yang withdrew his Divine Sense, finally understanding his situation. ’It’s different because I, an Immortal Spirit, was born within this Sword Embryo.’

’I haven’t even been born yet!’

An Immortal Spirit isn’t formed in an instant. It often requires a long period of nurturing, a time during which the Immortal Spirit also develops self-awareness.

’But my situation is special. As an Immortal Spirit, I developed self-awareness very early on, but I haven’t reached the point where I can emerge into the world. This is probably a unique case, one in ten thousand years, for an Immortal Spirit. Perhaps I can artificially increase my own foundation before I am born!’

Immortal Spirits are born at the Foundation Establishment Realm.

However, Foundation Establishment has many sub-realms. Most Immortal Spirits are only at the Early Stage of Foundation Establishment. The stronger their foundation before birth, the stronger the Immortal Spirit’s foundation will be.

The most powerful Immortal Spirits are even born at Foundation Establishment Perfection.

In that case, they could seek Gold as soon as they are born. If they were lucky enough to succeed, they would be a born Perfected Lord! Who knows if such an Immortal Spirit has ever appeared.

’After all, that kind of Immortal Spirit would probably have to have saved the world in their past life to get such treatment.’

’Born at Foundation Establishment Perfection... how profound a foundation and how great a fortunate destiny would that require? And to avoid being detected by Cultivators during the nurturing period... it’s simply a fantasy.’

’Good thing I have a cheat!’

Compared to ordinary Immortal Spirits, Lü Yang also had a Dharma Body that could move about freely. With the Tribulation Wave’s enhancement, he wasn’t completely without combat power.

’Even though I chose not to keep my Cultivation after restarting, I’m only at the Early Stage of Foundation Establishment now—the weakest kind, at that. I don’t even have an Innate Ability. But by using this Cultivation to support the [Heavenly Qian Totalizing All Manifestations Dharma Body], enhanced by the [Tribulation Wave], I should be unrivaled in the Early Stage of Foundation Establishment.’

’Unless someone else, like me, also had a Quasi-Essence Artifact and had mastered a Second-Grade Cultivation Skill.’

’But if I really ran into a chosen one like that, I could just lie low and not provoke them. After all, I, Lü Yang, am not the type to be aggressive and start fights.’

’At least with this Dharma Body, I can find resources to nurture myself.’

While Lü Yang was deep in thought, elsewhere...

”Sister, why don’t we try out this Sword Embryo?”

Yun Miaqing pointed to the Sword Embryo Lü Yang inhabited and said in a low voice, ”I have a good feeling about this Sword Embryo. If it’s forged well in the future, it might be used to refine a Flying Sword.”

As Qi Refining Disciples of the Sword Pavilion, and Direct Lineage members of the Foundation Establishment Immortal Race, the Yun Family, she and her sister Yun Miaozhen had come to this [Hidden Sword Manor] to select a suitable Sword Embryo. This was in preparation for cultivating the Flying Sword Technique in the future, a privilege that many ordinary disciples could not hope to receive.

”It is indeed a fine Sword Embryo.”

Responding to her younger sister Yun Miaqing’s question, Yun Miaozhen nodded with a placid expression. ”However, when choosing a Sword Embryo, you must also see if your affinities are compatible.”

”In other words, it depends on fortunate destiny.”

”I’ll go first.”

With that, Yun Miaozhen stepped forward, walking right up to Lü Yang. Yun Miaqing was not surprised by this, as she was long used to it.

After all, her sister’s Talent Skill was better than hers. It was also said that in her past life, she had been the disciple of a Foundation-Stage Cultivator within the sect. She had once cultivated to the Final-phase of Qi Refining, but sadly failed when trying to break through to Foundation Establishment and was forced to reincarnate. Although she had no memories of her past life now, her innate background remained, and that Foundation-Stage Cultivator was still around.

Compared to her, she herself was far inferior.

That was why she was long accustomed to letting her sister have many things. She even felt extremely proud to have such a powerful sister with a profound background.

”....Bind!”

Standing before Lü Yang, Yun Miaozhen formed a finger technique with both hands. A drop of blood seeped from her fingertip, and with a flick of her finger, it landed on Lü Yang.

Lü Yang instantly felt an alien power invade the sword’s body.

’Is this... the Blood Sacrifice Technique?’

Lü Yang shook his head. Clearly, Yun Miaozhen had no intention of checking for fortunate destiny or affinity. Instead, she planned to use her own blood essence and Mana to forcibly refine him.

’Such a familiar Sword Pavilion style...’

Lü Yang never took kindly to those who coveted his body. With a single thought, he directly refined Yun Miaozhen’s blood essence.

The next second, Yun Miaozhen’s face paled slightly.

’How can this be!?’

At this moment, the chosen daughter of the Yun Family gazed at Lü Yang, her delicate brows knitted in confusion. ’Could it be that the quality of this Sword Embryo is even higher than I had imagined?’

’Is it not something a Qi Refining Disciple can refine?’

Thinking of this, Yun Miaozhen shook her head and looked at Yun Miaqing. ”It seems our fortunate destiny is insufficient. This Sword Embryo is waiting for a more suitable Sword Master.”

Yun Miaozhen saw nothing wrong with her attempt to refine the Sword Embryo using the Blood Sacrifice Technique. The Blood Sacrifice Technique had been passed down to her by her master; it was part of her innate background, a part of her fortunate destiny. In comparison, Yun Miaqing had nothing, so her fortunate destiny was naturally inferior to hers.

”Oh, I see. What a shame...”

Yun Miaqing shook her head at this, then reluctantly stroked Lü Yang’s Enchanted Sword. It was such a large sword; she actually quite liked it...

CLANG! CLANG!

The next second, a scene unfolded that made Yun Miaozhen’s pupils shrink:

The Sword Embryo that she had been helpless against began to tremble violently under her younger sister Yun Miaqing’s touch, suddenly erupting with a dazzling Sword Light!

Immediately after, the Sword Embryo plunged into Yun Miaqing’s body!

”AH—!”

Yun Miaqing was completely defenseless. As she watched the sword’s blade enter her body, a feeling of perfect fusion, of her Heart Spirit becoming one with it, suddenly washed over her.

When the Sword Light dimmed, the Sword Embryo had vanished.

All that remained were a bewildered Yun Miaqing and a stunned Yun Miaozhen, her expression still frozen with a trace of disbelief. The two sisters stared at each other.

”Sister, this is...”

Yun Miaqing said timidly, not daring to finish her sentence. No matter how you looked at it, it seemed she had received the fortunate destiny while her sister had not...

Yun Miaqing didn’t quite dare to admit it, but subtly... it felt a little good.

However, Yun Miaozhen quickly took a deep breath and regained her composure. ”It seems this Sword Embryo is your fortuitous encounter. Keep it well. Don’t waste it.”

”Okay!”

Upon hearing this, Yun Miaqing broke into a smile. This was the first time she had ever ’won’ against her sister, obtaining something her sister couldn’t. She couldn’t help but feel a little excited.

However, she didn’t see that as she turned her back, her sister, Yun Miaozhen, revealed a somber and gloomy expression.

’Sword Fusion, a spontaneous response... That’s a Spirit Sword Embryo!’

’If I had asked Master to take action and refine this Spirit Embryo into a Flying Sword, it probably would have become a Spiritual Treasure, one I could have used all the way to Foundation Establishment!’

’Why did it choose Miaoqing... Is my fortunate destiny truly inferior to hers?’

’Impossible!’

Thinking of this, Yun Miaozhen immediately changed her line of thought. ’Having an Enchanted Sword acknowledge you as its master doesn’t count as fortunate destiny. Being able to keep it is the *real* fortunate destiny!’

Thinking of this, Yun Miaozhen immediately made up her mind.

Meanwhile, Lü Yang was resting in Yun Miaqing’s Dantian, engaged in Qi Communication with her. He smiled in satisfaction and then began to circulate his Cultivation Technique:

”Heaven-Mending Skill!”
