Just a Useful Pawn in the Stain Sect

Chapter 274: Chapter 274: A Satisfying Slaughter

Outside the Four Seas Sect lay the Overturning Sea.

Legend had it that this place was not originally a sea, but a great island, almost a continent. However, during the last millennial calamity, it became a battlefield for the Overseas Perfected Lords.

The result, naturally, was cataclysmic. A magnificent island continent sank beneath the waves, and the tens of thousands of Cultivators and over one hundred Dao Lineages upon it were all wiped out. From then on, it was known as the Overturning Sea. Since it was adjacent to the Four Seas Sect, the residence of a Perfected Lord, few foolish demons dared to approach.

Now, however, the scene had changed entirely.

For a Divine Mountain had risen from the Overturning Sea, its Primordial Magnetic Divine Light illuminating the azure sky and throwing the Five Elements into disarray wherever it shone.

At this moment, just outside the Divine Mountain.

Cloud Whales parted the waves, their immense demonic qi converging into a sky full of dark clouds. They advanced slowly, encircling the entire Divine Mountain.

Then, the Cloud Whales opened their mouths.

Batch after batch of Shrimp Soldiers and Crab Generals, armed with various Law Enforcement Artifacts, emerged. The aquatic demons formed arrays, spreading across the sea until the surface seemed as solid as flat ground.

Amidst the Demon Soldier arrays, a woman in Light Armor stood proudly, her armor outlining a graceful figure. A pair of tender Dragon Horns sprouted from her long, black hair, glowing with Divine Power Radiance. She was the clear center of the vast army of Demon Soldiers, her pair of Golden Pupils shining like fire over the surrounding sea.

It was the Dragon King, Sui Ling.

Her Cultivation was not on par with Sui Ying’s; she was only at the Mid-phase of Foundation Establishment and had condensed a single Innate Divine Technique. However, she was well aware of this and had prepared accordingly.

Gazing at the vast army of Demon Soldiers surrounding her, Sui Ling narrowed her eyes in satisfaction.

’All that daily drilling wasn’t for nothing. I’ve finally gathered enough Soldiers and Generals for the Celestial Demon Sea Array. This is the perfect chance to show what I can do!’

Although Sui Ling intended to avenge Sui Ying, she knew her own Cultivation was inferior. Thus, she had deployed her entire force—a full four hundred ninety thousand Demon Soldiers. With the array now formed and her at its center, she was confident she could suppress anyone short of a Great Trueman.

’Unfortunately, my prestige still isn’t high enough.’

’If Big Brother had personally issued a Decree and summoned all the demons in the palace, we could have gathered a million strong. Even a Great Trueman would have had a fight on their hands!’

Beyond this, Sui Ling had other plans.

This endeavor wasn’t just about avenging Sui Ying. It was also an opportunity to make a name for herself, win the Dragon Monarch’s favor, and advance her position in the Dragon Palace.

Just then, a Demon Soldier rushed to report, ”Your Highness, a group of Monks has arrived outside the array. They say they want to enter the mountain.”

Sui Ling was taken aback. ”Monks? What are they doing here? Don’t tell me they’re here to grant my Dragon Palace disciples Enlightenment and take them to the Pure Land to become Dharma-Protecting Celestial Dragons again?”

At this thought, Sui Ling immediately opened a gate in the array.

A moment later, twenty-four Monks with compassionate faces strode in. The leader had a pair of white eyebrows and wore a Golden Jade Kasaya.

”Amitabha!”

Upon seeing Sui Ling, the old Monk in the lead immediately put his palms together, chanted the Buddha’s Name, and said with a light chuckle, ”This humble Monk, Hui Ku, greets Almsgiver Sui Ling.”

”Spare me the formalities.” Sui Ling waved her hand dismissively, staring intently at the old Monk. Upon realizing he was only at Mid-stage Foundation Establishment Perfection, she relaxed considerably.

’He’s not a Great Zhenren Level Venerable from the Pure Land. I doubt he can cause any real trouble.’

With this thought, Sui Ling became much calmer and said in a deep voice, ”Master, you’ve come a long way. For what purpose? Could it also be for this Divine Mountain?”

”Not at all.”

Hui Ku shook his head. ”We are here on the Bodhisattva’s Decree to respectfully invite the Vast Power Celestial Dragon Arhat to return to his rightful place. You cannot kill this person, Almsgiver.”

”...What?”

Sui Ling’s fingers flew as she performed a quick calculation, and her face instantly filled with rage. ”What Vast Power Celestial Dragon Arhat? That’s clearly Yuan Tu, the Saint Sect Zhenren who killed Sui Ying!”

”Are you trying to stop me from avenging my brother?”

”Amitabha,” Hui Ku said with a smile. ”An eye for an eye will make the whole world blind. Almsgiver, you are becoming attached to worldly forms. Perhaps you would also like to accompany us to the Pure Land to cleanse your spirit?”

These words instantly calmed Sui Ling down. She understood Hui Ku’s hidden meaning: he was clearly telling her to cooperate, capture Yuan Tu, and hand him over to the Pure Land. If she didn’t know what was good for her, she would likely be ”accompanying” them to the Pure Land to become a Dharma-Protecting Celestial Dragon herself!

”...Fine.”

At this thought, Sui Ling’s tone weakened considerably. ”Since the Pure Land wants him, then so be it. The Masters can make their move themselves when the time comes.”

Besides, entering the Pure Land was a fate worse than death. That could be considered revenge in its own way.

Only then did Hui Ku nod in satisfaction.

Following that, the twenty-four Monks took up their positions in a corner of the array. Twenty-one of them were Dharma Protector Vajras at the Final-phase of Qi Refining, each possessing a sacred Position.

Besides Hui Ku, there were also two Arhats at the Early Stage of Foundation Establishment.

At that moment, one of the Arhats sidled up to Hui Ku and whispered, ”Senior Brother, we’re not actually going to have to fight that Yuan Tu, are we?”

Lü Yang was now incredibly famous on the mainland.

Especially after he publicly surpassed Ye Guyue. Hui Ku had even witnessed it with his own eyes, and the memory was still fresh. He knew exactly how formidable this great Demon was.

But even so, facing the Arhat’s insecure question, Hui Ku remained calm. ”Rest assured, this Decree came directly from the Bodhisattva. All parties have already reached an agreement. Did you think that Yuan Tu is the same as before, with some big shot from the heavens protecting him? He’s a phoenix that’s shed its feathers—not even as good as a chicken now!”

”Without a Perfected Lord as his backer, who can he rely on?”

”We just have to wait for him to walk into the trap, let these demons take the brunt of it, and we’ll just sit back and reap the rewards!”

A smug look appeared on Hui Ku’s face as he finished. After all, he had pulled strings with several Venerables in the Pure Land to get this prime opportunity to earn merit.

.......

Meanwhile, outside the Overturning Sea.

Lü Yang and Suo Huan arrived on their Flying Lights, but they stopped far in the distance. They frowned as they gazed at the demonic clouds that blotted out the sky.

Immediately after, Suo Huan took out the Void Celestial Mirror.

The mirror’s surface faced the distant demonic clouds. A Splendid Light emerged, instantly revealing the scene within. In addition to the demonic qi, the brilliant Shixiu Buddha Light was also extremely conspicuous.

”It really is the Four Seas Sect...”

Lü Yang shook his head at the sight. The situation was much worse than he had anticipated. His previous plan to sneak in with his Dharma Body was clearly impossible now.

”And there are Monks, too.” Suo Huan’s expression also changed. He glanced at Lü Yang and said with a sigh, ”I’m afraid they’re here for you, fellow Daoist.”

”You don’t have it easy, fellow Daoist.”

Hearing this, Lü Yang stood with his hands clasped behind his back and gave a bitter smile.

’This damn place... I can’t fucking lay low at all! Why are you forcing my hand?’

For some reason, he suddenly recalled his earliest lives, the first time he had faced the Master of Heaven Mending Peak, drawing his sword to Slash the Heavens only to be crushed by a single finger.

’Is it truly impossible to defy the Celestial Will?’

’But how did Minor Metal survive back then?’

In an instant, his final conversation with Minor Metal in the Dongyang Blessed Land flooded his mind. He hadn’t thought much of it at the time, but now, it struck him with profound feeling:

’A person must rely on themselves!’

Lü Yang’s thoughts raced. He closed his eyes, then opened them again. A bone-chilling killing intent flashed in their depths as he stared off toward the Primordial Magnetic Divine Mountain.

’That’s right. I can only rely on myself! I’m a discarded piece now. Only by using my own power to Slash through all obstacles, achieve Mid-stage Foundation Establishment Perfection, and then use the Empowerment Divine Effect of the Tribulation Wave to master a third Innate Divine Technique ahead of schedule, can I feign the Position of a Great Trueman. Only then can I hope to break this stalemate and regain the favor of a Perfected Lord.’

At this point, neither he nor Suo Huan had any room for retreat.

The only way was forward.

”...So be it.”

At this thought, Lü Yang looked again at the monstrous demonic qi and the dazzling Buddha Light in the distance, and a cold grin spread across his face. ”Perfect. I won’t bother telling friend from foe. I’ll just have a good time killing them all!”
