Just a Useful Pawn in the Stain Sect

Chapter 115: Chapter 115: The Terror of the Myriad-Soul Banner

”Don’t panic! This is just an Artifact! No matter how powerful it is, it still needs enough Qi to activate it. In the end, he’s just one person!”

Guang Hui, also a Monk from Fulong Temple, was clearly far more capable and composed than Guang Ming. At the very least, he immediately stabilized the group, not resorting to lies and fleeing like Guang Ming. Soon, the group of Monks had formed a defensive line with him at its center.

The next second, thousands upon thousands of Wu Ghosts swarmed forward.

”Amitabha!”

The Monk at the very front let out a thunderous cry as his body erupted in golden light. He threw a punch, instantly clearing away the Wu Ghosts before him.

But it was all for nothing.

The Wu Ghosts behind them showed no hesitation, even devouring the corpses of their fallen kin to become stronger before charging once more.

BOOM!

The Wu Ghosts didn’t even seem to intend to fight the Monks. They simply self-destructed upon getting close. The resulting burst of Yin Fiend corroded the Monks’ Golden Bodies like a potent poison.

”When I achieve Buddhahood, if the people in my land are not all of true golden body, may I not attain supreme enlightenment.”

At the center of the formation, Guang Hui unleashed all his Qi, using the Golden Form Spell to bolster the surrounding Monks. A vast Buddha Light instantly evaporated all the Yin Fiend.

”Hold the line! These Wu Ghosts aren’t that strong!”

At this moment, Guang Hui couldn’t be bothered with compassion. His face was twisted into a ferocious snarl as he desperately tried to boost morale. And he wasn’t just spouting nonsense.

In truth, while the Myriad-Soul Banner contained a vast number of Wu Ghosts, only eight were comparable to the Final-phase of Qi Refining. Those eight were also crucial components of the Yama Hall, so Lü Yang would never send them into battle.

Thus, all the Wu Ghosts that had attacked so far were below the Final-phase of Qi Refining and no match for the Monks.

But... if they were empowered by a Position, that would be another matter entirely.

The next second, a Wu Ghost—only at the Mid-phase of Qi Refining—pounced on a Monk at the Late-phase of Qi Refining who was at the very front. A wave of Evil Qi, not particularly strong, surged forth.

RIP!

The Golden Body of the Late-phase Qi Refining Monk, which should have been indestructible, seemed to have been suddenly weakened a thousandfold. It shattered under the assault of that meager Evil Qi!

”Aargh!”

The Monk screamed and desperately unleashed his Qi, trying to shake off the Wu Ghost on him. However, a dozen more Wu Ghosts quickly swarmed in, instantly overwhelming him.

’How can this be...’

Seeing this, Guang Hui nearly shattered his Buddha’s Tooth. With his knowledge, he could naturally see that the supposedly weak Wu Ghost could easily break the Golden Body entirely because it had been empowered by a higher Position. Meanwhile, his own side’s strength was drastically reduced because their Position was insufficient.

At that moment, Guang Hui was utterly baffled.

’The Perfected Lord is watching. Perfecteds shouldn’t be allowed into the Secret Realm! At the very least, no Perfected could possibly fool the Lord’s Dharma Eye.’

’Does that mean... this Demon before me isn’t at Foundation Establishment?’

’How the hell is he not at Foundation Establishment!?’

However, the situation didn’t allow him to dwell on it. The Monks on the outer perimeter were already crumbling, their Golden Bodies collapsing one after another as the Yin Fiend ate away at them.

’The only way... is a decapitation strike!’

Guang Hui raised his head, his gaze falling upon Lü Yang behind the myriad Wu Ghosts. A bitter smile touched his lips, but it quickly vanished, replaced by resolve.

”When I achieve Buddhahood, if there are hells, hungry ghosts, or beasts in my land, may I not attain supreme enlightenment.”

”When I achieve Buddhahood, if the people in my land fall back into the three evil paths after their lives end, may I not attain supreme enlightenment.”

”When I achieve Buddhahood, if the people in my land are not all of true golden body, may I not attain supreme enlightenment.”

His lips parted and closed, and Guang Hui uttered three Great Spells. In that instant, a magnificent Buddha Light spread rapidly outward from him.

Within the Buddha Light, a temple faintly materialized.

Inside, a congregation of Monks held their morning session, a Thunder Sound expounding the scriptures.

It was a magnificent ancient temple filled with the chime of bells. Above the main gate, a plaque bore two large words, written in elegant, flowing calligraphy:

Fulong Temple!

The next second, all the Monks melted into the Buddha Light, vanishing without a trace. The myriad streams of Buddha Light gathered together, finally transforming into a towering Golden Body Dharma Appearance.

”Dragon Elephant Vajra!”

This was the strongest Combat skill of the Pure Land Monks.

The Pure Land cultivates the Joyful Nirvana Dao. This path is one of self-annihilation, of realizing one’s own ephemeral existence is merely another ”I” of the Bhagavat as he brings Enlightenment to the mortal world.

Therefore, the more a Monk comprehends this ”true self,” the closer they get to the Bhagavat who created the Joyful Nirvana Dao, and the stronger the Divine Power they command.

This characteristic also grants the Monks a Technique completely different from other Sects. When multiple Monks perform a Secret Technique together, unifying their consciousness into a single ”I,” they can transcend the limits of their cultivation stages and borrow a higher-level Position from the Pure Land!

The higher the Position, the greater the number of Monks required.

For example, Monks at the Layers of Qi Refining need to gather all Eight Legions of Monks just to borrow a single Foundation Establishment Position.

A single Legion of Buddha Followers, at most, can only gather a Position close to Foundation Establishment—that of a Dharma Protector Vajra, considered a high-Position holder within Qi Refining.

Now, Guang Hui had unified the entire Naga legion. Over a hundred Monks merged into one, and the resulting Dragon Elephant Vajra was a prime example of their power!

”Demons and monsters, you shall be purged!”

As his voice fell, the Vajra body that was Guang Hui revealed a wrathful visage. It then charged into the horde of Wu Ghosts, pushing through the tide of spirits to get to Lü Yang.

But in the next second, that wrathful visage twisted into one of unspeakable despair.

Because in the center of the myriad Wu Ghosts, a magnificent hall rose from the ground, commanding the spectral and the arcane. From within walked a graceful, noble, and peerlessly beautiful woman.

Guardian Su Nu!

Although Su Nu was not on the Skull Mountains and thus lacked the empowerment of its Lay Line, she still held a Foundation Establishment Position. She was not someone a mere Guang Hui could hope to challenge.

BOOM!

Su Nu lightly raised her jade-like hand and gently pressed down. The Dragon Elephant Vajra that was Guang Hui was instantly sent flying, crashing straight into the dust.

The Golden Body, once radiant with Buddha Light, was covered in cracks from that single palm strike. Buddha Light flowed from the wounds like blood. Every drop that trickled out transformed into a Monk who had died with grievances. Once all its ”blood” was spent, this Dragon Elephant Vajra would fall apart on its own.

For a moment, Guang Hui felt as if he had been plunged into an icy abyss.

He even felt a sliver of resentment toward the Buddhist True Monarch supervising from the outside. ’Rinima! What kind of watch are you keeping? How could you let a Perfected sneak into the Seizing Dao Battlefield?’

’That bastard!’

At this moment, Guang Hui couldn’t even see Lü Yang’s figure anymore. His vision was filled with nothing but the sky-blotting Yin Fiend, the Wu Ghosts, and the magnificent Yama Hall.

”Demon! Face me one-on-one if you have the guts!”

Beneath the Myriad-Soul Banner, Lü Yang listened to Guang Hui’s furious roar while calmly toying with the Sword Pill in his hand. Such final, defiant curses were merely the wails of the defeated.

’Besides,’ he thought, ’when he charged over with a hundred Monks, he didn’t seem to want a one-on-one fight. Now he suddenly wants one?’

”I am fighting you one-on-one right now.”

’You, alone, against my army.’

Soon, after a quarter of an hour, the Buddha Light was completely extinguished, leaving only a field of corpses.

’All of them are useful resources. I can’t let them go to waste...’

Lü Yang activated the Myriad-Soul Banner, and the dead Monks rose to their feet once more. Even Guang Hui, who had just been roaring at him, was among them, his face now etched with loyalty.

Meanwhile, from behind Lü Yang, Qin Tianhe came jogging over cheerfully, dragging a bald-headed man.

”Senior, I caught one that was getting away.”

After speaking, he glanced cautiously at the group of Monks who had risen again behind Lü Yang. He was awestruck and couldn’t help but marvel to himself:

’We’re so amazing.’

”...There was a runaway?”

Lü Yang paid no mind to Qin Tianhe’s self-congratulation and looked at the pathetic-looking Guang Ming in his grasp. Seeing Lü Yang’s gaze, Guang Ming didn’t hesitate to raise his hands.

”Don’t kill me! I have important information to offer!”

”Spare me, Upper Cultivator!”
