Just a Useful Pawn in the Stain Sect

Chapter 109: Chapter 109: Seizing a Star

Looking at the deeply respectful Qin Tianhe and Xu Xin before him, Lü Yang froze for a moment, then swallowed the words ”Senior Brother” that had almost escaped his lips.

At a time like this, revealing his identity would only make things awkward.

Lü Yang could guess why they had mistaken him for a Perfected Person. It was simply that his current Position was so high it had caused Qin Tianhe and Xu Xin to misjudge him.

After all, he now possessed three Legendary Techniques, in addition to Theft to Sainthood and the Ninefold Dragon Metamorphosis. His Position was so high that he was practically a step away from Foundation Establishment.

For those standing at the foot of a mountain, there was no real difference between someone halfway up and someone at the peak; both were equally and impossibly high.

So, it was perfectly normal for them to be mistaken.

Therefore, Lü Yang didn’t deny it. He said directly, ”I have come on official orders to request an audience with Perfected Chong Guang, but I do not know how to do so. I must ask you two Daoists to instruct me.”

Qin Tianhe and Xu Xin were immediately overwhelmed by the unexpected courtesy. After all, it was rare for a ”Perfected Person” in the Stain Sect to be so polite. Not daring to delay, they quickly said, ”Perfected Person, if you have come on official orders, the Array Spirit within Holy Fire Cliff will surely have a record of it. Once you announce your presence, it will guide you.”

”Thank you.”

Lü Yang nodded, then summoned a Flying Light and sped directly toward Holy Fire Cliff, quickly disappearing from their sight.

”Which Perfected Person was that?”

”I’m not sure...”

Xu Xin and Qin Tianhe looked at each other, both a little puzzled. After all, Lü Yang was a complete stranger, and his attitude was so polite it left them feeling unsettled.

”Looks like our luck is good.”

”Any other Perfected Person might not have bothered asking. They would have just performed Soul Searching...”

”I wonder which battlefield that Perfected Person came from. The Pure Land in the West, the Dao Court in the East, the Sword Pavilion in the South... none of those places have been peaceful lately...”

Lü Yang, of course, didn’t hear their musings. He had already flown into Holy Fire Cliff. Just as Qin Tianhe had said, the moment he set foot inside, streams of light gathered and transformed into a woman of peerless beauty in colorful robes, who landed gracefully before him.

Lü Yang quickly stopped and cupped his hands. ”Lü Yang greets you, Senior Sister.”

The woman paused at his words. A strange light flickered in her eyes before vanishing. She said flatly, ”Direct Disciple Lü Yang, please follow me. Do not wander.”

With that, she turned and left on her own.

Lü Yang hurried to follow, thinking to himself:

’So this is the Array Spirit of Holy Fire Cliff... I’ve heard that this is the secluded cultivation ground for all the Perfected Lords. The array must be at least Third Grade...’

So advanced!

As a Seventh Grade Array Master, Lü Yang couldn’t help but feel an itch to dissect the Array Spirit before him and study its structure in depth.

In the end, however, Lü Yang restrained himself.

Soon, under the Array Spirit’s guidance, Lü Yang arrived at a grand hall on the outskirts of Holy Fire Cliff. The hall was filled with celestial light, illuminating the entire dome of the sky.

Lü Yang strolled into the great hall and immediately saw the figure of Perfected Chong Guang on the main seat. His hands were clasped behind his back, and before him, a vast map was spread across the palace wall. It encompassed all four directions and reached far overseas, with every territory on it covered in dense annotations.

”Disciple Lü Yang pays his respects to Master Chong Guang.”

Without another word, Lü Yang first bowed. He then stood in place, silent, quietly awaiting a response from Perfected Chong Guang on the main seat.

After a long while, Perfected Chong Guang finally came back to his senses.

He turned around, opening a pair of dazzling, blazing white pupils. His gaze fell upon Lü Yang like a raging fire, seeming to burn him inside and out.

Seeing this, Lü Yang stood tall with his chest out, not the least bit guilty.

After a moment, Perfected Chong Guang retracted his gaze, a hint of surprise on his face. ”All these Legendary Techniques... were they taught to you by Junior Brother Yin Shan?”

”They were!”

At this moment, Lü Yang hid nothing. The Lunar Shedding Technique, the Soul Splitting Secret, Theft to Sainthood... he openly displayed every Legendary Technique he possessed.

Furthermore, he could guarantee that the origin of every Ability could be traced. They were all passed down to him by Perfected Yin Shan after his promotion to Direct Disciple at Skull Mountains. He had simply managed to master all of them on his way back to the Stain Sect; there was nothing suspicious about it.

’What? I mastered them too quickly?’

’Can’t be helped. With the blessing of a Foundation Establishment Guardian God’s Position, mastering Legendary Techniques is just this easy. If you don’t have one, it’s hard for me to explain.’

Looking at the confident Lü Yang, Perfected Chong Guang’s eyes gradually brightened. Perfected Yin Shan had already told him about Lü Yang.

Just now, he had personally divined the karmic links and inspected him inside and out, confirming that there were no issues. This was the limit for vetting a Direct Disciple; after all, he was only a Qi Refiner. No matter how great a stir he caused, it wouldn’t be enough to disturb a Golden-Core Perfected Lord.

”You are very impressive.”

At this thought, Perfected Chong Guang’s tone became inscrutable. ”With your cultivation, you could actually attempt to reach Foundation Establishment right now, and with at least an eighty percent chance of success.”

However, his tone quickly shifted. ”But I hope you won’t rush into Foundation Establishment.”

”The Battle for the Dao between the Righteous and Demonic is about to begin again. If you can join and help the Stain Sect win this battle, it will be of great benefit to you after you achieve Foundation Establishment.”

Perfected Chong Guang’s attitude could be described as nothing short of gentle.

Lü Yang could tell that even if he refused, Perfected Chong Guang likely wouldn’t hold it against him. But if he did, he would miss out on the opportunity to serve for the sect.

’Without the service, how can I get promotion in the Stain Sect?’

Therefore, Lü Yang didn’t hesitate for a moment. He immediately said, ”This disciple is willing to participate in the Battle for the Dao.”

”Good!” Perfected Chong Guang smiled with relief at his words, and his gaze toward Lü Yang became a little kinder. ”From this day on, you are a Direct Disciple of our Stain Sect.”

”Your generation is the ’Yuan’ generation.”

”You have inherited the legacy of the Wu Ghost Sect, so I fear you carry a heavy burden of slaughter. I will give you the character ’Tu’, which stands for massacre. From now on, your Dao name shall be Yuan Tu. What do you think?”

The moment Perfected Chong Guang said this, Lü Yang understood that he was basically making it clear he wanted to recruit him. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have personally chosen a Dao name for him.

Thinking of this, Lü Yang quickly cupped his hands. ”Yuan Tu pays his respects, Master.”

Only then did Perfected Chong Guang laugh heartily and wave Lü Yang over. ”Come here. When the Battle for the Dao begins, this will be the best place to observe.”

”A place to observe?”

”That’s right. The Perfected Lords are about to establish the battlefield for the Battle for the Dao.”

Lü Yang was puzzled, but he let none of it show on his face. He obediently walked to Perfected Chong Guang’s side. Before long, a soft cry reached his ears:

”It’s happening!”

Almost simultaneously, Lü Yang looked up at the sky.

At that moment, the ceiling of the great hall suddenly changed, as if transforming into a Round Mirror that pierced through illusion to reveal a vast and magnificent scene.

It was a boundless, vaulted sky.

And at this moment, the entire Stain Sect, the whole Sea of Clouds, began to tremble. The clouds churned like muddy waves surging through the air as a form rose, spanning heaven and earth.

The head tore through the Thirty-six Layers of Gang Cloud. Behind it, halos of round light rippled like waves. It stood with its hands behind its back, and the Stain Sect’s vast Sea of Clouds seemed to be nothing more than a chessboard beneath it.

The form was even still growing larger.

Its eyes merged with the sun and moon in the sky. Sunlight and Moonlight became Its gaze as It looked down upon the world, calmly sweeping over all living beings below.

Gradually, Lü Yang could no longer even see the whole form.

Everything about It overlapped with the heavens and the earth in Lü Yang’s field of vision, making it impossible to perceive Its full appearance. Only an indescribable shock washed over him.

Rivers and mountains for a body, the vault of heaven for a head!

The flow of great rivers for veins, the sun and moon for eyes!

The next second, Lü Yang’s view changed again. On the distant horizon, two more similarly magnificent forms were also slowly rising.

One had a constant, open smile, its heart full of compassion.

One wore an Official Uniform, attended by dragons and phoenixes in worship.

The three form each encompassed thousands upon thousands of miles of land. They interacted with one another, drawing a circle upon the vast earth and fixing the Lay Lines within it.

”Golden-Core Perfected Lords... So this is a Perfected Lord!?”

Lü Yang’s eyes bulged, and he nearly wept tears of blood just to be able to make out the movements of the three Golden-Core Perfected Lords—They slowly raised their hands.

Three palms aimed simultaneously at a single star in the vault of heaven.

Then, hands closed.

The next second, Lü Yang saw that brilliant star in the heavens get seized and dragged by the three Perfected Lords, then plummet thunderously toward the earth!
