I Just Wanted to Teach Cultivation, But Goddesses Keep Coming!

Chapter 108: Chapter 108 Her Legs Go All the Way Up to the Immortal Realm

A dozen breaths passed.

Ning Xi waited, straining her ears, thinking that perhaps Lin Feng hadn’t heard her at all, that he was already asleep, indifferent to the questions and emotions swirling within her.

Then, just as her resolve began to falter, his calm, steady voice broke the silence.

“Why what?”

Her heart skipped a beat. Hearing him speak, so soft yet firm, sent a shiver down her spine.

She hesitated only briefly, then poured out the question that had been burning inside her.

“Why aren’t you like other men?” she asked, her voice soft, almost trembling with a mixture of awe and confusion.

“Other men would have easily taken me and Teacher Ye Jian tonight without even blinking. And yet you… you continue to keep your distance, to hold your boundaries.”

She waited, her chest tight, her gaze fixed on a shadowed corner of the ceiling.

The room fell silent again, the only sound the gentle rise and fall of Ye Jian’s breathing beside her.

Every heartbeat seemed impossibly loud, every second stretching endlessly.

Five breaths later, Lin Feng finally spoke.

“There’s no special reason,” he replied calmly.

“I’m not like other men, and I have certain principles I live by especially when it comes to choosing a dao companion. That isn’t something you decide lightly, is it? It’s not about attraction alone. It’s about compatibility, values, and the path one walks.” He paused briefly before continuing, his tone steady and unyielding.

“Falling in love with a teacher like me would also create a conflict of interest. I have no desire to spend my time and energy dealing with the complications and headaches that kind of life would bring.”

He didn’t move an inch, remaining sprawled lazily on the floor as if the conversation barely required effort on his part.

“What if I leave the academy?” Ning Xi asked softly, her voice trembling just slightly.

“What if I stop being a teacher altogether? Would you give me a chance then to look at me differently instead of rejecting me and my presence all the time?”

Lin Feng finally shifted his gaze toward her, studying her face carefully.

“Perhaps you would have a chance if that truly happened,” he said. “But I would also look down on you.”

His words struck harder than she expected.

“Teaching has clearly been your dream and passion since you were young,” he continued.

“I can see it in the way you carry yourself, in the patience you show your students, and in the dedication you pour into your work. You’re talented in the dao so you could have easily entered any sect in the Golden Lotus Empire. You had countless paths open to you, yet you chose the teaching profession instead. A thankless job.”

He shook his head slightly. “But I wouldn’t respect someone who gives up on their dreams so easily. Someone who abandons their calling just to chase after another person isn’t someone I could walk beside.”

Ning Xi stood there in silence, his words echoing in her mind.

For a long moment, she said nothing.

“You really make it so hard to chase you, Lin Feng,” Ning Xi said softly, her voice steady but filled with quiet determination.

“But it doesn’t matter. I won’t give up that easily. I love teaching children… they’re close to my heart, and I treasure every moment I spend guiding them. But that doesn’t mean I can only love one thing in this world. I love being a teacher, and I’ll also make it my passion to chase you. A person can have many passions, can they not?”

There was a faint, gentle sound in her voice, as though she were smiling while speaking.

For once, it was Lin Feng’s turn to fall silent.

He stared at her for a long moment before finally speaking.

“What do you even find special about me?” he asked.

“I’m strong and handsome, that’s all. There are countless men out there with far better qualities… men who are kinder, warmer, and more willing to open their hearts. And what if Teacher Ye Jian is right? What if I’m already a monster who’s lived for countless trillions of years, just hiding beneath a young face and skin? Could you really stomach kissing an old man like me?”

His words were sharp, but not cruel.

In truth, he was trying his hardest to push her away to sell himself short, to make himself unappealing, hoping she would back out and find someone else.

Anyone else. Anyone who wouldn’t be him.

“The old poets always said in their songs that love is blind,” Ning Xi replied calmly.

“I guess it really is true.” She took a step closer, her gaze unwavering. “I don’t care about your faults, real or imagined. I don’t care how old you are, or what you’ve lived through. You’re the only man who’s ever looked at me without lust. You’re the only one who’s treated me like a person instead of an object.”

She paused, her expression softening.

“I agree… you’re different, Lin Feng. And that’s exactly why I won’t give up. No matter how much you try to push me away, I’ll fight to win your attention.”

“Ohhhh shit! Is this woman for real? Where was she when I was confessing to a hundred women and getting rejected!? Being handsome really is such an unfair advantage in this world!” Lin Feng screamed inwardly, his mind spinning as he tried to process what he had just heard.

For the first time in a long while, he felt truly cornered.

“I need to kick her out of my life once and for all!” he roared inside his head.

If gentle rejection wouldn’t work, then he would have to go all out.

He would become so unbearable, so repulsive, that she would have no choice but to flee from him like he was the embodiment of disaster itself.

So he took a deep breath and unleashed his final, desperate attempt.

“This had better work!” Lin Feng mused internally, hoping desperately.
