A-List Actress: Paper Marriage but Pampering Billionaire

Chapter 1384: Chapter 1384: Birth Control Pills

In the villa, Mu Yan woke up and went downstairs for breakfast.

Breakfast was as lavish as always, but today Mu Yan didn’t have much of an appetite. After just a couple of bites she couldn’t eat anymore, and on top of that she felt nauseous, like she was going to throw up.

Yu Ma walked over and asked with concern, ”Young Madam, are you feeling unwell?”

Mu Yan shook her head. ”I’m fine, maybe my stomach got chilled. I just don’t feel like eating.”

”But you can’t skip breakfast.” Yu Ma frowned. ”How about I make you some plain congee?”

Mu Yan thought for a moment, then nodded. ”Okay then.”

”Please wait a bit.” Yu Ma turned and went to the kitchen.

Mu Yan glanced at the breakfast on the table, but really had no appetite. She pulled out her phone and checked the news.

About half an hour later, Yu Ma came out carrying a bowl of plain congee.

Mu Yan still didn’t feel like eating, but she forced herself to drink a few spoonfuls. After all, Yu Ma had hurried to cook it for her; she had to show some appreciation.

Yu Ma stood beside her, watching her drink, and said casually, ”Just now when I saw you feeling sick, my first thought was maybe you’re pregnant.”

Mu Yan’s heart gave a jolt. Pregnant?

She suddenly stared at her own belly, then quickly shook her head. She’d just had her period not long ago; how could she be pregnant?

Yu Ma went on talking to herself, ”But then I thought about it and felt like it’s impossible.”

A hint of surprise flashed in Mu Yan’s eyes. She looked at Yu Ma. ”Why do you say that?”

Yu Ma realized she’d misspoken and hurried to say, ”No, I was just talking off the top of my head.”

Mu Yan frowned, instinctively unconvinced.

She’d been around Yu Ma for over two years and knew she wasn’t a talkative person, and definitely not someone who spoke without a reason.

She asked tentatively, ”Yu Ma, are you hiding something from me?”

Yu Ma smiled. ”It’s nothing really, just that I feel this is something between you and Young Master, and I shouldn’t butt in.”

”Yu Ma, don’t be so distant. You’ve been taking care of me for so long, you’re pretty much like family to me.” Mu Yan said with a smile.

Yu Ma looked at her, her eyes full of emotion. ”Young Madam, hearing you say that really humbles me.”

”Alright, Yu Ma, don’t start with those empty formalities.” Mu Yan scolded playfully.

”Okay!” Yu Ma nodded.

She looked at Mu Yan, hesitated a bit, then said, ”Young Madam, I don’t know if I should say this or not.”

”It’s fine, go ahead.” Mu Yan smiled.

Yu Ma said in a low voice, ”Even though you and Young Master have a good relationship and you’re still young, you’ve been married for over two years now. You really should have a child—first, to satisfy the elders, and second, to secure your position. After all, no one can tell what might happen in the future. If, by any chance...”

”There won’t be any ’by any chance,’ Yu Ma, you’re overthinking it.” Mu Yan smiled. ”Besides, I actually do plan to have a child.”

Yu Ma looked at her, completely puzzled. ”Then why are you still taking birth control pills?”

Birth control pills? Mu Yan froze for a second, staring at Yu Ma, her eyes full of shock and doubt. ”When did I ever take birth control pills?”

”You didn’t? Then that wasn’t birth control?” Now it was Yu Ma’s turn to be confused.

Mu Yan was even more baffled.

”Yu Ma, what exactly is going on?”

Yu Ma simply laid everything out. ”There were a few mornings when I saw Assistant Lian bring something over. I was curious what it was. One time I saw Young Master throw a pill into the trash. I noticed you hadn’t gotten pregnant, so I assumed you were taking birth control.”

”I didn’t take anything.” Mu Yan frowned. She also didn’t believe Jiang Jingheng would secretly make her take birth control pills behind her back.

She asked again, ”You said you picked up that pill—did you throw it away?”

”No, I still kept it.” Yu Ma said quickly.

Something stirred in Mu Yan’s heart. ”Show it to me.”
