A-List Actress: Paper Marriage but Pampering Billionaire

Chapter 1370: Chapter 1370: Concealment

After sending Qin Xi off, Mu Yan no longer had the desire to go shopping.

The address given to her by Song Cheng’an was not nearby, so she left the mall and directly hailed a cab.

About an hour and a half later, the car stopped at the entrance of an alley.

Mu Yan paid the fare, got out of the car, and was met with a view of dilapidated residential buildings. Around her were residents dressed simply; the area was practically the border of Upper City, and these houses were dubbed farmer houses.

The ground was uneven and somewhat damp, and the air seemed to carry a faint musty smell.

Mu Yan followed the house numbers forward, attracting the curious gaze of many residents.

After walking for several minutes, Mu Yan finally found house number 45, but unfortunately, the door was closed.

Are they out? Mu Yan slightly frowned.

Just then, a resident walked by, and Mu Yan immediately asked, ”Hello, do you know when the people here will return?”

The person gave her a once-over, found her somewhat familiar, and asked, ”Who are you?”

”I’m his friend, planning to visit him,” Mu Yan replied.

Seeing her clean and elegant appearance and well-dressed demeanor, the wariness in the person’s eyes dissipated, and they said, ”Ah Nan went out for work, he won’t be back until evening.”

”Do you know where he’s gone for work?” Mu Yan asked.

”Just over in Lotus Village. It’s tough to do business now, and Ah Nan has had a hard time,” the person sighed.

Business? Mu Yan’s eyes flickered with surprise, and she asked tentatively, ”Do you know what business he’s involved in?”

”What other business could it be? Shoe repair—he’s continuing his father’s trade. Their family has been making shoes for people since his grandfather’s time, and their craftsmanship is top-notch.”

Mu Yan was increasingly surprised, ”Isn’t he a doctor? Why isn’t he working at the hospital?”

”Miss, have you not contacted him for a long time?”

Mu Yan’s expression turned a little awkward, ”Yes.”

”That kid keeps everything to himself, unwilling to talk to others. He lost his job as a doctor long ago. I heard from people that he offended some rich person—you know how cruel those rich people can be, a single casual remark can ruin someone’s future.”

Mu Yan awkwardly kept silent, without commenting.

”Miss, if you have time, you should reach out to Ah Nan more often. He really has it tough, with his family gone now and he’s alone. Recently, nobody knows who he offended again, but he was beaten up, and now his leg is still crippled.”

Mu Yan’s face changed slightly, ”What happened?”

”Who knows,” the person sighed, ”It’s feared that it’s the person Ah Nan offended before, coming back to make trouble again. Can you believe those rich people have nothing better to do than constantly hassle Ah Nan?”

Mu Yan tightly furrowed her brows, her rationality reminding her not to believe everything she hears.

”Miss, why don’t you come to my place and wait for Ah Nan to return? Otherwise, you’ll be standing here for quite a while.”

Mu Yan snapped back to reality and quickly said, ”No, no, thank you.”

”You’re not waiting for Ah Nan to come back?”

”Since he’s not home, I’ll come next time,” Mu Yan nodded slightly to her, then turned to leave.

At the alley entrance, Mu Yan waited half an hour before another cab arrived, and on the way, she received a call from Jiang Jingheng.

”No need to pick me up, I just finished shopping with Qin Xi and am on my way back now.”

Mu Yan hung up the phone, looking at her mobile, and ultimately, she didn’t dare to ask him about Xiao Nan.
