A-List Actress: Paper Marriage but Pampering Billionaire

Chapter 1179: Chapter 1179: I’m Sorry!

Lin Jiamu did not refuse; he noticed that Mu Yan’s emotions were off all night and was just about to ask her what was wrong.

The two walked forward together, the streetlamp’s light pulling their shadows long.

Not many people were around this area, only a few pedestrians late at night, strangely desolate.

After a period of silence, Lin Jiamu took the lead and asked, ”Have you been alright recently?”

Mu Yan did not answer; she seemed lost in thought.

Lin Jiamu assumed she hadn’t been happy lately, tentatively asking, ”Is it convenient for you to tell me? Maybe I can help you.”

Mu Yan suddenly stopped walking and looked at him, ”Recently, I’ve been thinking about when I first met you.”

”Huh?” Lin Jiamu looked at her, puzzled.

Her gaze seemed unfamiliar, yet an indescribable unease grew in his heart.

Mu Yan smiled slightly, ”In my moment of despair, you pulled me out of the abyss, thinking about it carefully, it truly feels like destiny.”

Lin Jiamu didn’t understand why she mentioned this, and following her cue, he responded, ”Yeah, it’s fate.”

”The question is whether this fate is predestined or orchestrated.”

Lin Jiamu’s expression stiffened, realizing that her words carried deeper meaning, and asked, ”Do you have something you want to say to me?”

Under the streetlamp, the two stared at each other; perhaps the light was too dim, Mu Yan felt Lin Jiamu’s face appeared somewhat blurred.

She remained silent for a moment, then took a document bag from her purse and handed it to him, ”Recently, someone has been sending this to me frequently, take a look.”

Lin Jiamu took the bag from her hand and opened it, finding some photos that appeared quite old.

The light was too weak, so he simply used his phone to illuminate them.

However, seeing that youthful version of himself in the photos made his heart instantly sink to the bottom.

”Do you have something to say to me?” Mu Yan suddenly asked.

Lin Jiamu closed his eyes briefly, ”You know everything.”

Mu Yan chuckled softly, ”I wonder if you mean I know you’re a lackey of Long Xiao, or something else.”

Lin Jiamu felt his heart clench tightly, unprecedented panic washed over him, ”Mu Yan, I...”

”Hmm?” Mu Yan calmly looked at him.

Lin Jiamu looked into her eyes filled with expectation, his throat felt choked, unable to utter a word.

What to say? Say he wasn’t involved in that incident?

No, he couldn’t bring himself to say it; he didn’t want to lie to her.

Mu Yan looked at him, her clear eyes shimmering under the light.

She asked, ”Won’t you explain? Explain that all this is just a coincidence, that you didn’t intentionally get close to me.”

Lin Jiamu clasped the photos tightly, bowed his head, and said, ”I’m sorry.”

Mu Yan closed her eyes, suppressing the anger simmering within her, and said, ”Sorry for what? You appeared like an angel in the darkest moment of my life, saving me from peril, giving me hope to live anew, you’re a benefactor to me.”

Lin Jiamu raised his eyes to look ahead, a hint of wistfulness in his eyes, ”We all know Brother Long became infatuated with a woman, that woman worked at the nightclub, and Brother Long often went there for her; can a woman working at a nightclub be a good woman? Of course, we aren’t good people either, but people always think highly of themselves; we all felt she wasn’t worthy of Brother Long, so I wanted to teach her a lesson.”

Mu Yan clenched her hands, tears streaming down, ”So you locked her in the storage room and set a fire?”

Lin Jiamu replied in a muted voice, ”Yes, I lied to her, saying there was a mouse in the storage room, she believed it and went in, then I closed the door and left; when we came back down, that’s when we realized there was a fire inside.”

And then, he saw her nearly unravel.
