A-List Actress: Paper Marriage but Pampering Billionaire

Chapter 1059: Chapter 1059: Why Should I Keep Letting Them Take Advantage?

Mu Yan returned to the room, took off her down jacket, feeling her whole body relax as if her pores had opened up, finally able to breathe.

It’s minus ten degrees outside, over twenty degrees inside; the temperature difference is too big.

She sat on the bed, opening the red envelopes she just received, each one stuffed full; she counted them leisurely, each containing ten thousand yuan.

”I didn’t realize the New Year red envelopes had so much money,” she remarked, then reached out to Jiang Jingheng, ”Where’s my New Year red envelope?”

Jiang Jingheng held her hand and said, ”All the money is with you; there’s none left for red envelopes.”

”Talking so pitifully,” Mu Yan snorted lightly and handed him a red envelope, ”Here, your New Year red envelope.”

Jiang Jingheng chuckled softly, ”What’s mine is already yours, no need to give it to me.”

”Smart words,” Mu Yan put the red envelope back.

Jiang Jingheng looked at her with a greedy expression and asked, ”I thought you wouldn’t accept their red envelopes.”

”Why not accept?” Mu Yan raised her eyebrows, ”I’ve been missing out on red envelopes for more than ten years; why should I continue to let them off easily.”

Jiang Jingheng raised an eyebrow, ”Thinking this through?”

”Aunt was right; even if there are some things I don’t want, I can’t just let others profit from it.” Mu Yan snorted lightly, ”Even though this money isn’t much, if I don’t take it, it will end up with Liang Rong and Zhuang Chujiao’s mother and daughter. Why should I allow that?”

She realized now that Zhuang Shaoyang’s current company was one her mom had struggled to help establish, yet in the end, her mom didn’t receive anything, but Liang Rong and her daughter benefited considerably.

She stuffed the red envelopes into her bag, ”After the New Year, I’ll donate some money to the orphanage.”

”Okay,” Jiang Jingheng agreed; he knows she likes doing charity.

As long as spending a little money makes her happy, it’s all fine.

Soon, they heard a knock at the door.

Jiang Jingheng went to open it, finding Zhuang Yi.

Zhuang Yi looked at him, teasingly said, ”Brother-in-law, Happy New Year.”

Jiang Jingheng responded calmly, ”Happy New Year.”

”Aren’t you forgetting a title?” Zhuang Yi teased.

Jiang Jingheng ignored him, ”What’s the matter?”

”Nothing, just came to say hello. What secrets are you whispering here in the room?” Zhuang Yi said as he looked inside.

Mu Yan came out, meeting Zhuang Yi’s gaze, and said, ”Cousin, Happy New Year.”

Zhuang Yi’s smile froze for a moment; before she used to call him Brother directly, but now she addressed him distantly as Cousin.

He nodded and pulled out a red envelope from behind, handing it to her, ”Happy New Year!”

”Thanks,” Mu Yan accepted it.

Zhuang Yi felt a bit awkward, saying, ”Grandma asked you to come downstairs to talk.”

”Okay.”

”Alright, come down soon,” Zhuang Yi said, turning around and leaving.

Mu Yan watched his back, paused for a moment, then put the red envelope in her bag and went downstairs with Jiang Jingheng.

The old lady hadn’t seen her in a while and kept asking her questions non-stop, as if wanting to know everything she had done each day.

Mu Yan understood that she cared for her but only to a certain extent.

Ruan Xinyu noticed her son was sullen and said, ”You went to your uncle’s house early just to come back and see Nuannuan and Jingheng, why aren’t you talking now?”

Zhuang Yi glanced at Mu Yan and said, ”You all talk, I’m listening.”

”Our mischievous boy has grown up and settled down,” the old lady joked.

Ruan Xinyu sighed, ”He’s certainly less annoying, but he’s still not finding a partner. Look, Nuannuan is married, doesn’t it bother you as the elder brother?”

Zhuang Yi really didn’t respond now.

Suddenly, the old lady asked, ”Didn’t Jiaojiao say she would be back in the morning? Where is she?”
